ENERGISE Living Lab country report - Denmark
<p>The Danish ELLs were conducted in Roskilde, where ELL1 was situated in Viby Sjælland, and ELL2 was situated in Trekroner. In ELL1 18 participants were involved, and in ELL2 20 participants were involved. In ELL1, participants mainly lived in detached, privately owned houses, where as participants in ELL2 primarily lived in privately owned terraced hoses. The buildings in ELL1 are older than the buildings in ELL2, and the houses in ELL2 are slightly smaller than the houses in ELL1. There is a mix of household sizes and compositions in each ELL, where the average age of participants in ELL1 is slightly older than the average age of ELL2 participants. ELL1 can be considered a community of place, whereas ELL2 can be considered a community of interest, as ELL2 participants consider themselves to community-builders and to be slightly greener than the average population. This is, however, not necessarily so, as this report will also demonstrate.</p>
ENERGISE Living Lab country report _ Netherlands
<p>ENERGISE Living Labs (ELLs) employ practice-based approaches to reduce energy use in households while co-creating knowledge on why energy-intensive practices are performed and how they depend on the context in which they are performed. Altogether 16 living labs were implemented in eight European countries in 2018.</p> <p><br> The Dutch ELLs were led by the ENERGISE team from Maastricht University, in Maastricht in the Netherlands. The ENERGISE Living Labs were implemented in the Southern most province in the Netherlands, Limburg – in two municipalities. Maastricht for ELL1 and Roermond for ELL2, the community-based ELL. Participants were recruited with the help of a local implementation partner Op het Zuiden.</p>
ENERGISE Living Lab Country Report - Switzerland
<p>In Switzerland, the two ENERGISE Living Labs (ELLs) took place in the City and Canton of Geneva, in the French-speaking region of the country. The first Living Lab (ELL1) included 20 households with diverse profiles, from one- and two-person households to families with two or three children, and with participants of all age groups. A large majority of them lived in multi-family houses or larger apartment buildings, reflecting the housing situation in Switzerland. The second Living Lab (ELL2) was organised in a community of place, a housing cooperative located in the Geneva city center. The participants' profile was also varied in terms of age group and type of households.</p>
ENERGISE Living Lab Country Report - Hungary
<p>The ENERGISE Living Labs in Hungary were located in the town of Gödöllő in Central Hungary in order to provide a better opportunity to make comparisons between the individual (ELL1) and the community or group approach (ELL2). Thus, while an attempt was made to recruit a socio-economically diverse group of participants, the two ELLs had a similar make-up in terms of household types. The final number of households participating in the ENERGISE Living Labs in Hungary was 41. Out of this number 21 participated in ELL1 and 20 in ELL2. It is notable that all 41 households remained engaged in the ELLs up until the end. This report provides a summary of the qualitative and quantitative data as well as a country-level analysis of outcomes.</p>
ENERGISE Living Lab country report - United Kingdom
<p>This national country report describes the two living labs run in the United Kingdom for the pan-European ENERGISE (European Network for Research, Good Practice and Innovation for Sustainable Energy) project funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 framework programme for 36 months (December 2016 - November 2019). The report discusses the main findings arising from the living labs. It also considers some of the implications for policy-making and future research of the project.</p>
ENERGISE Living Lab country report - Finland
<p>ENERGISE Living Labs (ELLs) employ practice-based approaches to reduce energy use in households while co-creating knowledge on why energy-intensive practices are performed and how they depend on the context in which they are performed. Altogether 16 living labs were implemented in eight European countries in 2018.</p> <p>The Finnish ELLs were implemented in two different sites. ELL1 for individual households took place in a Porvoo region, about 50 kilometres from Helsinki and engaged 19 households living mainly in single-family homes. ELL2 (with collective elements) was implemented in Merihaka, urban district close to Helsinki city centre, and 18 households living in apartment buildings in Merihaka joined the ELL challenges and community activities.</p>

<p>ENERGISE Living Labs (ELLs) employ practice-based approaches to reduce energy use in households while co-creating knowledge on why energy-intensive practices are performed and how they depend on the context in which they are performed. Altogether 16 living labs were implemented in eight European countries in 2018.</p> <p>The Irish ELLs were led by the ENERGISE team from the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG). The ENERGISE Living Labs were implemented in one county (Tipperary) in the midlands of Ireland, approximately 150 kilometres from Galway City.</p>
ENERGISE LIVING LAB COUNTRY REPORT – GERMANY
<p>The German ENERGISE living labs were rolled out by the LMU ENERGISE team to 40 participant households over the course of eight months from August 2018 to April 2019 in the Oberland region of Bavaria. During that time, over the course of a number of interviews and surveys households in and around the towns of Weilheim (ELL1) and Murnau (ELL2) were asked to do a thorough examination of their practices in the areas of heating and laundry with a specific focus on trying to encourage households to reduce the energy use associated with those practices by means of finding sufficiency focused strategies to enable them to heat less and launder less.</p>
