EOSC Task Force on FAIR Metrics and Data Quality: FAIR Evaluation community survey 2023
<p>The EOSC-A FAIR Metrics and Data Quality Task Force (TF) supported the European Open Science Cloud Association (EOSC-A) by providing strategic directions on FAIRness (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and data quality. The Task Force conducted a survey using the <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/">EUsurvey tool</a> between 15.11.2022 and 18.01.2023, targeting both developers and users of FAIR assessment tools. The survey aimed at supporting the harmonisation of FAIR assessments, in terms of what it evaluated and how, across existing (and future) tools and services, as well as explore if and how a community-driven governance on these FAIR assessments would look like. The survey received 78 responses, mainly from academia, representing various domains and organisational roles. This is the anonymised survey dataset in csv format; most open-ended answers have been dropped. The codebook contains variable names, labels, and frequencies.</p>

<p>This is the data set of the annual survey on National Contributions to EOSC 2022 for the EOSC Steering Board</p><p>The annual survey on National Contributions to EOSC was developed by the EOSC Future project and EOSC Steering Board to monitor policies, practices, and impacts related to EOSC and Open Science at national and institutional levels in Europe</p><p>The annual survey for 2022 was published in the EOSC Observatory on 19 January 2023 and ran until 09 June 2023 whereby 32 member states and associated countries in Europe responded to the survey</p><p>The data of the annual survey for 2022 is now available and exploitable in the online dashboard of the EOSC Observatory developed by Technopolis Group and OpenAIRE: [<a href="https://eoscobservatory.eosc-portal.eu">https://eoscobservatory.eosc-portal.eu</a>]</p><p>Disclaimer: The annual survey on National Contributions to EOSC is in an initial stage of implementation and will be improved in future iterations whereby the data should for now be taken as a best-effort attempt by participating countries</p>

<p>This is the data set from the EOSC Steering Board pilot survey on National Contributions to EOSC 2021</p> <p>The annual survey on National Contributions to EOSC monitors policies, practices, and impacts related to EOSC and Open Science at national and institutional levels in Europe</p> <p>The pilot survey for 2021 was published and the data was collected and is now available in the online dashboard of the EOSC Observatory: [<a href="https://eoscobservatory.eosc-portal.eu">https://eoscobservatory.eosc-portal.eu</a>]</p> <p>This data set has removed confidential information on financial estimations in questions 4-14 and also descriptions of use cases in question 19 which will be presented in an EOSC Catalogue of Best Practices</p>
Demo showing what RELIANCE project has achieved on Open Science, FAIR and EOSC
<p>This demo shows what we have achieved on Open Science and FAIR. </p> <p> </p> <p>- Starting from <a href="https://beta.explore.openaire.eu/">OpenAIRE EXPLORE</a>, we search for "Copernicus air quality" and find lots of resources, mostly publications and only 2 software. The reason is that to be "classified" as "Software", we have to add specific metadata when publishing.</p> <p>- The "Software" we found is a "EOSC Jupyter notebook" created by <a href="https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3979-3645">Simone Mantovani</a> with a DOI and additional metadata so that OpenAIRE explore can "associate" it to a specific EOSC service, namely <a href="https://www.egi.eu/services/notebooks/">EGI Notebook</a>. </p> <p>- When we click on "<a href="https://marketplace.eosc-portal.eu/services/egi-notebooks?q=EGI+Notebook">EOSC Service: EGI Notebook</a>", we are re-directed directly to the service that has been used to generate the original scientific results we found in OpenAIRE explore.</p> <p>- Any EOSC service needs to be requested and you have to plave an "order" to get access to it, where you may have to explain why you would like to access this EOSC service. To authenticate to any EOSC service, you can use for instance your <a href="https://orcid.org/">ORCID </a>identifier. if you do not have one, we suggest to register: this is very handy for EOSC services and you keep your ORCID identifier when you move from one institution to another (in addition, your institutional login may not work).</p> <p>- You will get notified by email (check your SPAM folder!) when you got access to an EOSC service.</p> <p>- We login to EGI notebook using ORCID identifier and upload (manually) the jupyter notebook we found in OpenAIRE (following the link e.g. from zenodo (<a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5554786">https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5554786</a>)</p> <p>- The Jupyter notebook uses CAMS European air quality analysis from Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service. The input data is accessible through an external service called the <a href="https://reliance.adamplatform.eu/">ADAM platform</a> (Advanced geospatial Data Management platform). It hosts datacubes (easy and fast access to large amount of data).</p> <p>- We can re-execute the Jupyter notebook but more importatnly we can create derivative work. However, make sure you check the license of the original result you find in OpenAIRE explore: it needs to have a license that allows you to create derivative work. Also make sure the Jupyter notebook is well documented.</p> <p>- We duplicate the Jupyter notebook and customize it. To bring the Open Science aspect from the beginning and not only when publishing the Jupyter Notebook, we need to use storage that can be shared. We use another service called "<a href="https://www.egi.eu/services/datahub/">EGI datahub</a>".</p> <p>- As when collaboratively writing scientific papers, we agree on how to organize the data: we create an "input folder" (containing all the input datasets used in the Jupyter notebook), an "output" folder with all the outputs we generate and a tool folder with the Jupyter notebook.</p> <p>- The new analysis is very similar to the previous one but over a different geographical area (France). </p> <p>- Finally, we create a Research Object that aggrgate all the resources. We use another external service called <a href="https://reliance.rohub.org/">RoHub </a> (Research Object Hub) and create and "executable Research Object" which we hope will be found, accessed and reused!</p> <p> </p>
Onboarding to EOSC Portal introduction video for PolicyCLOUD
<p>This presentation video is a first stop for any organisation interested in becoming a European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) resource provider. We will see what are the key components of EOSC, the benefits to onboard Providers and Resources to the EOSC Portal, what is the criteria to be validated as a resource provider, and links to additional step by step instructions to complete your onboarding as a resource provider. </p>
EOSC Providers and Resources data-dump
<p><span><span>The EOSC Providers and Resources dataset contains the metadata descriptions (EOSC Profiles) of the EOSC Providers and the Resources (e.g</span>. catalogues, services, data sources, training material and interoperability guidelines) they onboarded to the EOSC Catalogue and Marketplace during the <a href="https://eoscfuture.eu">EOSC Future project</a>.</span></p> <p><span>The dataset is based on a data extraction, provided by the ATHENA Research Center, using the public API of the EOSC Service Registry, which is part of the EOSC Resource Catalogue. The information provided here is a snapshot: a historical record of (a subset of) the information about various providers and resources recorded within the EOSC Catalogue and Marketplace at the end of the EOSC Future project in April 2024.</span></p> <p><span>A curation process, using a <a href="https://gitlab.desy.de/paul.millar/eosc-datadump">publicly accessible data curation workflow</a>, designed and implemented at DESY, was used to remove all known personal or sensitive data in line with GDPR and the <a href="https://eoscfuture.eu/privacy-policy/">EOSC Future Privacy Policy</a>. This process is described in the <code>methodology.md</code> file within this dataset.</span></p> <p><span>From April 2024, the EOSC Portal was phased out. On 24th April 2024, the European Commission <a href="https://open-science-cloud.ec.europa.eu/news/commission-announces-eosc-eu-nodes-web-presence">announced</a> the next phase of EOSC with the launch of the initial web presence of the <a href="https://open-science-cloud.ec.europa.eu">EOSC EU Node</a>. The goal of publishing this dataset is to enable other EOSC-related projects such as <a href="https://oscars-project.eu">OSCARS</a>, <a href="https://www.eosc-beyond.eu">EOSC Beyond</a> as well as researchers more broadly, to both reuse and build further on this work.<br></span></p>

ESFRI thematic cluster view on EOSC
<p>The illustration visualizes the view of the five ESFRI cluster projects EOSC-Life, ENVRI-FAIR, SSHOC, PANOSC and ESCAPE on the emerging European Open Science Cloud. Particular focus is put on the three building layers of consolidated e-infrastructures, open science, and scientific communities' content and users which the ESFRI cluster projects bring to the EOSC. The three layers identified by the cluster projects provide an "alternative" interpretation of the acronym EOSC.</p>
EOSC-Nordic climate 14 years dataset (generated from CESM 2.1.0) to test owncloud (WP5)
