EPMA dataset - Tso Morari granites

Accompanying datatset for publiication entitled "The emplacement, alteration, subduction and metamorphism of metagranites from the Tso Morari complex, Ladakh Himalaya"

Thin sections were made from 11 macroscopically undeformed granite samples from the Tso Morari complex. Samples 11-01, 11-02, L08-04 and a05-10 were selected for detailed petrological analysis. Major element compositions of minerals that exhibit solid solutions were measured using a Cameca SX-5 field emission electron microprobe (EMPA) at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford. All EMPA analyses were conducted with 15 keV acceleration potential, 20 nA beam current. For all major elements, the on-peak count time was 30 seconds with 30 seconds background count. Ti was measured with a 60 seconds on-peak count time and 60 seconds background collection. A range of natural and synthetic oxide standards were used including albite (Na, Al, Si), MgO (Mg), wollastonite (Ca), andradite (Fe), Mn (Mn) and TiO2 (Ti) and analyses were verified against secondary mineral standards. Raw analyses were automatically corrected for atomic number, absorption and fluorescence using the phi-rho-z matrix correction routine (Merlet, 1994). Mineral spot analyses and line profiles were taken across white mica and garnet to determine the extent of intracrystalline compositional variation.
