Stakeholders of the EU ETS - Interviews

The interview were realised in the context of the PLATO project. PLATO investigates the legitimacy of the EU’s responses to the financial crisis. It uses the example of the financial crisis to build and test theory of what would amount to a legitimacy crisis in the case of a multi-state, non-state political system such as the EU. PLATO generates new understandings of the EU’s legitimacy crisis through multiple, connected case studies undertaken by 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs).

Project flyer: https://www.plato.uio.no/plato-itn-flyer.pdf

In my PhD project I examine how stakeholders involved in the public debate on the EU’s emissions trading scheme (ETS) justify, criticise and legitimise it.

The data is semi-structured interviews with stakeholders. The interviews aim at collecting data on the stakeholders’ position in the negotiations and on their organization’s viewpoints.

Personal information (such as age, gender, professional position or political opinions) were not collected.

The objective of this interview is twofold:

- Understanding the ETS negotiations and the stakeholders’ interests

- Identifying the social norms the stakeholders use to justify the ETS and the EU

- Identify how stakeholders criticise the ETS

The Emerging Endgame: The EU ETS on the Road Towards Climate Neutrality - figure raw data

This file contains the data from all figures shown in the paper "The Emerging Endgame: The EU ETS on the Road Towards Climate Neutrality". They are all based on results from the model LIMES-EU, whose documentation (for this specific paper version) is available at: https://www.pik-potsdam.de/en/institute/departments/transformation-pathways/models/limes/documentation-of-limes-202411_vf-1.pdf
Each sheet of this file relates to a specific figure, except for the last one ("Sensitivity"), which shows EUA prices and invalidations reported in Section B.3, specifically in Figures B2, B3, and Tables B1, B2.
Most tables in this file present information for a specific scenario(s), whose assumptions are described in the table columns. scenario_ETS refers to the EU ETS ambition and design, namely the Reference and Reform scenarios. These determine the cap and the MSR configuration; scenario_fam refers to the scenario family, that is, the parameter whose value was varied for the sensitivity analysis, e.g., fuel prices and MSR thresholds.
