The first principal component (PCI) accounts for 54.95 % of total variance, and bears loadings mostly along the axis defined by shell length; the second principal component (PCII) explains 44.97 % of total variance, and its loadings are mostly along the axis perpendicular to shell length. Both components reflect changes with size, larger shells scoring higher on PCI and lower on PCII.
