Europa Chaos Block Shapefiles and Geojson Files in Lower RegMap Images

The included dataset includes the raw polygon shapefiles of the outlines for chaos blocks on Europa in the lower half of the RegMap images. The outlines were generated using the standard definitions of blocks and further subdivision in morphology of plates and knobs based on those previously published by Leonard et al. (2022) in which the author of this dataset is the same that created the majority of the Leonard et al. (2022) dataset. Images used to generate the outlines were the RegMap images within the Photogrammetrically Controlled Galileo Image Mosaics of Europa, produced by the USGS Astrogeology (Bland et al., 2021). The shapefiles do not include the entire metadata and will be uploaded at a later date, but information about chaos block morphology, area in sq km, lon/lat location of center, and chaos terrain location are included. Also included within this dataset are the Geojson files (produced by Marina Dunn) that complement the ArcMap shapefiles, so they could be implemented into other programs more easily. Both datasets have yet to be peer reviewed.

References

Leonard, E.J., Howel, S.M., Mills, A., Senske, D.A., Patthoff, D.A., Hay, H.C.F.C., and Pappalardo, R.T. Vedlegg til "Endonymiprinsippet og flerspråklige stedsnavn i Europa"

The dataset consists of one PDF document and one spreadsheet workbook, which contain the complete results of the article "Endonymiprinsippet og flerspråklige stedsnavn i Europa" [The endonymic principle and plurilingual toponyms in Europe].

Explanations and references are provided in the PDF. All text is in Norwegian, but the maps in Appendix 1 of the PDF (pp. 34–45) are intelligible without knowledge of Norwegian. They show the geographic distribution of regional and minority languages in Europe (most recent estimates available of standardised languages). In several cases, distributions should be regarded as approximate, partly because no detailed or recent estimates are available, partly because coloured areas follow administrative borders (provinces, municipalities etc.), which are not always congruent with linguistic borders. Countries are abbreviated following ISO 3166-1 (two uppercase letters), languages following ISO 639-2/T or ISO 639-3 (three lowercase letters). Please note that national languages, which are emphasised using boldface, did not normally get a colour of their own, so that the light grey background colour can represent different languages in different countries. Also the remaining colours may represent different languages, but the same language has always the same colour. The intensity of a colour indicates the proportion of users of the language in the local population (using three intervals: 5%–25%, 25%–50% og 50%–100%).

Juno Plasma Wave Observations at Europa

This is the supporting data set for the paper by the same title published in AGU JGR Space Physics.

Abstract
Juno passed by Europa at an altitude of 355 km on 29 September, day 272, 2022. As one of Juno's in situ science instruments, the Waves instrument obtained observations of plasma waves that are essential contributors to Europa's interaction with its environment. Juno observed chorus, a band at the upper hybrid frequency providing the local plasma density, and electrostatic solitary structures in the wake. In addition, impulses due to micron-sized dust impacts on Juno were recorded with a local maximum very close to Europa. The peak electron density near Europa was ∼ 330 cm−3 while the surrounding magnetospheric density was in the range of 50 to 150 cm−3. There was a significant separation between the Europa flyby and Juno's crossing of Jupiter's magnetic equator, enabling a unique identification of effects associated with the moon as opposed to magnetospheric phenomena normally occurring at the magnetic equator near 10 Jovian radii.

Europa spectral images of HCN, SO2, H2CO and CH3OH observed using ALMA

This dataset contains observations of Europa carried out using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) on four dates in 2021, using the Band 7 receiver. The targeted spectral lines included HCN ($J=4-3$; 354.505 GHz), H$_2$CO ($J_{K_a,K_c}=5_{1,5}-4_{1,4}$; 351.769 GHz), SO$_2$ ($J_{K_a,K_c}=5_{3,3}-4_{2,2}$; 351.257 GHz), observed at 122~kHz resolution, and CH$_3$OH ($J_K = 4_0 - 3_{-1}\ E$; 350.688 GHz), observed at 61 kHz resolution. The interferometric data were cleaned and imaged using CASA, with a pixel size of 0.02'' and a clean mask of 1.1''. The resulting spatial resolution is ~0.15 arcseconds.

The data includes FITS image cubes and PDF spectral maps for each molecule, on each observing date. See FITS headers for further details. For each PDF, the ALMA beam FWHM is indicated lower left (dot-dashed ellipse); upper right axes show physical distances in the plane of the sky, while lower left axes show the spectral units for each sub-panel.
