Giraffe kimberlite pipe core GDGT fractional abundance
<p>Database for the fractional abundances of GDGTs present in the Giraffe kimberlite pipe core (paleolatitude ~63o N). Dataset contains depth, in vertical-equivalent meters, of each sample, as well as the fractional abundance of each of the analyzed lipids. This is part of the Martínez-Sosa, et al., <em>in prep</em> manuscript.</p>
75-kyr paired mean summer temperature (MST) and moisture balance (BIT-index) data for eastern equatorial Africa based on GDGT distributions in the DeepCHALLA sediment sequence
<p>The DeepCHALLA (DCH) GDGT-based climate proxy data series consist of paired measurements on 373 discrete 2-cm-thick sediment samples, represented by their DCH event-free depth in meter (mefd). Section depth center refers to the distance (in cm) of the sample’s center from the top of the individual core section as represented by its DCH core code. Sediment age is based on the age model as presented in Fig. 2 in Baxter et al. (2023). Mean Summer Temperature (MST) was calculated from the distribution of sedimentary brGDGTs according to Pearson et al. (2011) and rescaled using an ensemble reconstruction for eastern Africa covering the last 25 ka (Extended Data Fig. 4 in Baxter et al., 2023). The branched versus isoprenoid tetraether (BIT) index of sedimentary brGDGTs from Lake Chala, reflecting lake water-balance variation, was calculated according to Hopmans et al. (2004).</p>
Sediment geochemistry, archaeal abundance and GDGT data from methane seep sediments offshore Southwest Taiwan
<p>Dataset for manuscript "Methane Index and TEX86 values in cold seep sediments: implications for paleo-environmental reconstructions" currently under review in Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta. Parameters include methane gas concentration, sulfate concentration, total organic carbon, dissolved inorganic carbon, stable carbon isotopes of total organic and dissolved inorganic carbon, the abundances of archaea and ANME-1, glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs) and their associated indices including the Methane Index, Branched Isoprenoid Index, Ring Index and TEX86. ANME1_gdgt_calculation datasheet shows the calculations based on which the ANME-1 GDGT relative distribution was inferred. Datasheets Flux Dive1, Flux Dive3 and Flux MD10-3280 contain the calculations of sulfate and dissolved inorganic carbon fluxes.</p>
