Location and time of DCI events identified on Hainan Island and Leizhou Peninsula during MJJAS of 2016–2022

This dataset provides the location and time of the 10731 deep convection initiation (DCI) events occurring over Hainan Island and Leizhou Peninsula in Southern China during the summer season (May to September) of 2016 to 2022. The dataset was collected by an automatic DCI identification method using the high-resolution (2 km, 10 minutes) visible and infrared data of satellite Himawari-8. Note that the time in the dataset are represented in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). For instance, the value "720" corresponds to the time "07:20 AM UTC".
