Dataset from "In silico assessment of collateral eddy current heating in biocompatible implants subjected to magnetic hyperthermia treatments"

<p>This dataset from the publication entitled &quot;Dataset from &quot;In silico assessment of collateral eddy current heating in biocompatible implants subjected to magnetic hyperthermia treatments&quot; contains simulated data of magnetic hyperthermia treatments for three different indications: colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and head &amp; neck cancer. Since the aim of the study is to evaluate the risk of thermal damage caused by the collateral heating of two common types of passive prostheses (hip and dental implants), eddy currents induced in these implants upon interacting with the externally applied ac field during treatment have been computed for all the evaluated regions. Two different&nbsp;alloys for the implants have been considered for each case as well: Ti6Al4V and CoCrMo. At the same time, besides temperature, the specific abosorption rate (SAR) have been also computed to work out the energy deposition in tissues.</p> <p>Calculations have been carried out using a het exchange model with and without thermoregulation.</p> <p>log-log SAR vs T plots have been obtained and proposed as a quick means to pre-check treatment feasibility in each patient. These graphs are thought to be included in treatment planning prior to the clinical procedure.</p> <p>Other parameters taken into account have been the treatment time (5 and 30 minutes), and the maximum tolerable temperature threshold (1 or 5 &ordm;C, as indicated by the ICNIRP commission), all for three main types of tissues, namely fat, bone and muscle. Each tissue have been simulated using three&nbsp;different field intensities&nbsp;(5, 10 and 15 mT).</p> <p>The field frequency has been 300 kHz in all cases.</p> <p>The files &quot;Dataset_description.doc&quot; and &quot;file_scheme.txt&quot; contain&nbsp;the structure and description of the files that make up the dataset.</p> <p>UPDATES FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS: simulations of the dental implant without&nbsp;thermoregulation have been added.</p>

Data from: Testing the heat treatment dose for Agrilus planipennis prepupae using the Humble water bath

<p>The lethal heat treatment dose (time and temperature) for the pre-pupal life stage of <em>Agrilus planipennis</em> Fairmaire (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), emerald ash borer, was determined through an in vitro application using a carefully calibrated heat treatment apparatus. The lethal and sublethal effects of heat on A. planipennis prepupae were assessed through a ramped heat delivery application, simulating industrial kilns and conventional heat chamber operations, for treatments combining target temperatures of 54 °C, 55 °C, and 56 °C, and exposure durations of 0 min (i.e., kiln temperature ramp only), 15 min, or 30 min. Prepupal emerald ash borer larvae did not survive exposure to 56 °C for 15 min or longer, or to 55 °C for 30 min. Sublethal effects were observed for all other treatments. Sublethal effects included delayed development and failure to complete the pupal and adult life stages. The datasets and associated R statistical computing langauge code are deposited here.</p>

As built and post heat treatment residual stresses in 316L stainless steel additively manufactured benchmark arches

<p>The data presented is the residual stress in three orthogonal directions determined by neutron diffraction (SALSA at ILL) and synchrotron X-ray diffraction (P07 and P61A at Desy operated by Hereon). The data is for residual stress in a benchmark 316L stainless steel arches manufactured by laser powder bed fusion using MetalFAB1 and EOS M290 additive manufacturing machines. These arches are square topped with dimensions of nominally 20 mm in both the x and y direction (in plane). The overhang which creates the arch shape runs parallel to the y direction. The height of the arch is nominally 10 mm with the ligament above the over hang being of 2 mm nominal thickness.&nbsp;</p> <p>Data for part in both an as built and after a 700 &deg;C 2 hour heat treatment are presented. The measurement &nbsp;line runs from the centre of the top surface (defined at the origin) down into the arch (defined as positive z direction).</p> <p>The stress-free reference used was a reference comb cut from an identically made arches. For heat treated samples, heat treated combs were used.</p> <p>Different gauge volume sizes and shapes were defined at each institution, all measurement locations indicate the centre of the gauge volume during each measurement. gauge volumes were: P07 200 x 200 &micro;m2, ~1.9 mm, P61A 150 &times; 150 &micro;m2 ~2.9 mm, ID15A 200 x 50 &micro;m2 ~1.7 mm, SALSA 0.6 x 0.6 x2 mm3.</p>

Data for: Evidence to support phytosanitary policies - The minimum effective heat treatment parameters for pathogens associated with forest products

<p>Research on reducing the movement of pests on wood products has led to several options for safer trade including heat treatment of wood to mitigate pests. In this study, pathogenic organisms commonly regulated in the trade of forest products were tested to determine the minimum heat dose (temperature and time) required to cause mortality. The mycelial stage of tree pathogens, <em>Heterobasidion occidentale</em>, <em>Grosmannia clavigera</em>, <em>Bretziella fagacearum</em>, <em>Phytophthora cinnamomi</em>, <em>P. lateralis</em>, <em>P. ramorum</em> and <em>P</em>. x<em>multiformis</em>, which may be found in wood products, were tested in vitro using the Humble water bath with parameters simulating the rate of heat applied to wood in a commercial kiln. The lethal temperature for the pathogens ranged from 44 to 50°C for a 30-minute treatment duration. A molecular diagnostic method to confirm pathogen mortality was available for five of the species heat treated. RNA detection using reverse transcription real-time PCR was used to validate pathogen mortality following treatment for: <em>P. ramorum</em>, <em>P. lateralis</em>, <em>P. cinnamomi</em>, <em>P</em>. x<em>multiformis</em> and <em>G. clavigera</em>. The heat treatment data set is deposited here.</p>

Data from: The effect of heat treatments on the phase composition and diffraction patterns of goethite to α-Fe2O3/γ-Fe2O3 transformation

<p class="Body"><span>Recovered iron hydroxides from Electro-coagulated (EC) sludge collected from the textile wastewater treatment plant and heat treated forms of iron oxides on phase composition properties and phase identification were reported. EC sludges containing iron hydroxides were examined with heat treatment at a temperature of 100, 300, 500 and 800 <sup>0</sup>C.  The raw and analyzed data of the x-ray diffraction examinations of the raw iron hydroxides containing EC sludge and transformed iron oxides were reported. X- ray <em><span>Diffraction </span></em>(XRD) analytical techniques were used for both raw EC sludge and transformed iron oxides, hematite,  characteristic determination. Iron oxide (Hematite)  diffraction pattern as comparative to International Central Diffraction Data (ICDD) from heat treated at high temperature EC sludge were evaluated and confirmed.  Raw and analyzed data of XRD analysis for both recovered iron hydroxides and transformed iron oxides is uploded in the  data repository as PDF and XPS viewer.</span></p>
