<p>Nella web app ‘e-archeo’ quattro diversi punti di vista esterni e interni all'abitazione indigena, la prima indagata stratigraficamente ad Egnazia per questo periodo, sono accompagnati da uno storytelling incentrato sulle attività e sui diversi aspetti della vita che quotidianamente si svolgeva in questi spazi. La vista dall'esterno (V01) permette di cogliere l'organizzazione del complesso nella più antica città, organizzata tra la fine del IV e il III sec. a.C., mentre dal centro cortile , su cui si imposta l’atrio della domus romana (V02), si entra nel vivo delle attività dell'abitazione. Spazio specifico, nella ricostruzione e nella narrazione, è riservato al recinto sacro a cui si sovrappone il sacrario di età romana (V04) e al vano produttivo che accoglie una fornace (V05) e gli spazi di lavoro, sostituiti nella domus romana dalla dispensa (V06). La narrazione, in italiano e inglese, accompagna sia lo stato attuale sia la ricostruzione e può essere fruita in forma scritta e come audio dalla voce di attori professionisti che hanno registrato in studio.</p>

Psoriasis is associated with elevated gut IL-1α and intestinal microbiome alterations
<p>Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition that predominantly affects the skin and is associated with extracutaneous disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease and arthritis. Changes in gut immunology and microbiota are important drivers of proinflammatory disorders and could play a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Therefore, we explored whether psoriasis in a Central Asian cohort is associated with alterations in select immunological markers and/or microbiota of the gut. Methods: We undertook a case-control study of stool samples collected from outpatients, aged 30-45 years, of a dermatology clinic in Kazakhstan presenting with plaque, guttate or palmoplantar psoriasis (n=20), and age-sex matched subjects without psoriasis (n=20). Stool supernatant was subjected to multiplex ELISA to assess the concentration of 47 cytokines and immunoglobulins and to 16S rRNA gene sequencing to characterize microbial diversity in both psoriasis participants and controls. Results: The psoriasis group tended to have higher concentrations of most analytes in stool (29/47=61.7%) and gut IL-1α was significantly elevated (4.19-fold, p=0.007) compared to controls. Levels of gut IL-1α in the psoriasis participants remained significantly unaltered up to three months after the first sampling (p=0.430). Psoriasis was associated with alterations in gut Firmicutes, including elevated Faecalibacterium and decreased Oscillibacter and Roseburia abundance, but no association was observed between gut microbial diversity or Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratios and disease status.<br> Conclusions: Psoriasis may be associated with gut inflammation and dysbiosis. Studies are warranted to explore the use of gut microbiome-focused therapies in the management of psoriasis in this under-studied population.</p>

The methodology employed was based on a systematic review of documents and scientific publications related to the study object from 2004 to the present utilizing the Scopus database and the 'bibliometrix' package in the R programming language. Several decision steps were followed to ensure the reliability and validity of the analysis. The findings allowed for the identification of the most cited journals, the most prominent authors, and the most common affiliations among the authors of the analyzed documents. Additionally, different models of learning style preferences and their impact on the teaching process were explored. The findings contribute significantly to understanding the dynamics of research in the studied discipline. Regarding the most cited journals, "Computers & Education" was found to be the leading journal in terms of the total number of citations, followed by "Educational Research Review" and "Learning and Instruction". As for the most prominent authors, several relevant names were identified, such as David Kolb, Richard Felder, and Peter Honey. Regarding the most common affiliations among the authors, it was found that several Spanish universities lead this list. On the other hand, this study explored different learning style models and their impact on the educational process. It was found that there is a wide variety of theoretical models on learning style, but there is no clear consensus on which model is best to apply in an educational context. However, the importance of considering students' learning styles to adapt the educational process to their individual needs was highlighted. In conclusion, this bibliometric analysis provides an overview of the current state of ILS research and can be useful for researchers, educators, and professionals interested in this field. The obtained results can also be used to identify current trends in ILS research and to guide future investigations in this area.</span></p>

<p>Nei sei punti di vista della web-app lo storytelling accompagna virtualmente il visitatore partendo dall’esterno, dove si coglie il rapporto con il mare di questo santuario che era il simbolo della città, il primo a renderla riconoscibile da tutti coloro che raggiungevano Egnazia entrando nel porto ai piedi dell’acropoli. Passando all’interno, lungo il percorso seguito anche dai fedeli, il racconto si sofferma sui rituali e sul culto della divinità, con ogni probabilità Venere, alla quale erano affidate le speranze per il successo degli affari e per la riuscita dei passaggi essenziali della vita. Come la piazza del mercato, anche al cospetto della dea si infittivano incontri e scambi che segnano l’apertura e il tratto multiculturale tipico delle città di mare, in antico come oggi. <p>Lo storytelling accompagna la vista della piazza in età messapica, uno dei primi spazi collettivi realizzati alla nascita della città, tra la fine del IV e il III sec. a.C. Per i sei punti di vista della piazza di età romana, che copre quella più antica, si raccontano diversi aspetti della vita quotidiana di questo spazio che diventa il mercato, uno dei luoghi più affollati della città, scenario privilegiato per l’incontro di etnie differenti e di gruppi sociali eterogenei e per lo scambio di saperi e di idee, che rappresenta il tratto distintivo del paesaggio culturale di Egnazia, oltre che una delle cifre essenziali dell’impianto narrativo del progetto ‘E-archeo’. La narrazione, in italiano e inglese, accompagna sia lo stato attuale sia la ricostruzione e può essere fruita in forma scritta e come audio dalla voce di attori professionisti che hanno registrato in studio.</p>
Egnazia, Fasano (BR). Il santuario di Venere sull'acropoli, ricostruzione virtuale e backend scientifico
<p>Il progetto della ricostruzione di questo complesso monumentale, particolarmente rappresentativo per la città in età romana, è stato realizzato da Altair4 Multimedia sulla base dei dati di rilievo e di scavo sistematizzati dal team della Università di Bari guidato da Gianluca Mastrocinque. La definizione degli elementi architettonici e dello sviluppo in altezza degli edifici è stata elaborata per la prima volta dalla ricomposizione di frammenti reimpiegati in diversi settori della città antica, attraverso considerazioni metrologiche e strutturali sostenute da confronti tipologici con altri edifici di culto di età imperiale meglio conservati. La ricostruzione tridimensionale è stata realizzata con software Blender 3.0, per la realizzazione delle texture ci si è basati sulla documentazione fotografica fornita e sui rilievi fotografici effettuati sul posto. Sono stati prescelti 6 punti di vista privilegiati per visualizzare la ricostruzione del santuario, che ne evidenziano le caratteristiche salienti: la posizione panoramica in rapporto con la città e soprattutto con il mare (V01), l’accesso al santuario (V02), l’altare e la gradinata di accesso al tempio (V03), il podio e l’accesso alla cella (V04), la piazza solo in parte lastricata (V05), il portico con le nicchie votive (V06). Sono incluse nel dataset le immagini panoramiche a 360° dello stato attuale dei 6 punti prescelti realizzate con camera INSTA360 PRO2 per le riprese a terra, e i rendering a 360° realizzati dai medesimi punti di vista realizzati con Blender 3.0. A ciascuno dei 6 punti di vista panoramici sono associate le immagini di backend, con le informazioni relative alle fonti e ai processi interpretativi che hanno supportato l'ipotesi ricostruttiva</p>

<p>This record contains data related to article “The soluble glycoprotein NMB (GPNMB) produced by macrophages induces cancer stemness and metastasis via CD44 and IL-33"</p> <p> </p> <p>Abstract</p> <p>In cancer, myeloid cells have tumor-supporting roles. We reported that the protein GPNMB (glycoprotein nonmetastatic B) was profoundly upregulated in macrophages interacting with tumor cells. Here, using mouse tumor models, we show that macrophage-derived soluble GPNMB increases tumor growth and metastasis in Gpnmb-mutant mice (DBA/2J). GPNMB triggers in the cancer cells the formation of self-renewing spheroids, which are characterized by the expression of cancer stem cell markers, prolonged cell survival and increased tumor-forming ability. Through the CD44 receptor, GPNMB mechanistically activates tumor cells to express the cytokine IL-33 and its receptor IL-1R1L. We also determined that recombinant IL-33 binding to IL-1R1L is sufficient to induce tumor spheroid formation with features of cancer stem cells. Overall, our results reveal a new paracrine axis, GPNMB and IL-33, which is activated during the cross talk of macrophages with tumor cells and eventually promotes cancer cell survival, the expansion of cancer stem cells and the acquisition of a metastatic phenotype.</p> <p> </p>

Data from: Offspring behavioral outcomes following maternal allergic asthma in the IL-4-deficient mouse
<p>Background: Maternal allergies and asthma during pregnancy have been associated with increased risk of ASD and ADHD to the child. Previous rodent studies have demonstrated that inducing a T helper-2 (Th2)-mediated allergic response during pregnancy leads to an offspring behavioral phenotype characterized by decreased social interaction and increased stereotypies. Interleukin-4 is a key signal in the Th2 immune cascade, but its role in fetal brain development and subsequent impacts of maternal allergic asthma (MAA) on offspring behavioral deficits have yet to be determined.</p> <p>Objective: In this study, we investigated whether the absence of IL-4 signaling would mitigate MAA-induced behavioral changes.</p> <p>Methods: C57BL/6J and Interleukin-4 knockout (IL-4 KO) mice were sensitized to ovalbumin and exposed to repeated allergic asthma aerosol inductions throughout pregnancy. Offspring were assessed on Juvenile Reciprocal Social Interaction, Elevated Plus Maze, Open Field Exploration, Novel Object Recognition, Forced Swim, Marble-burying, and Grooming tasks.</p> <p>Results: MAA during pregnancy resulted in decreased social interactions in male C57 offspring and impaired memory performance in both male and female C57 mice. These deficits were not observed in IL-4 KO mice exposed to MAA. However, we observed genotype effects in IL-4 KO mice including altered motor performance and anxiety-associated responses.</p> <p>Conclusion: MAA-induced social and cognitive behavioral alterations are IL-4 dependent. IL-4KO offspring display genotype-specific differences suggesting IL-4 signaling is important for typical developmental processes.</p>
Data from: Repeated sensitization of mice with microfilariae of Litomosoides sigmodontis induces pulmonary eosinophilia in an IL-33-dependent manner
<p><strong>Background:</strong> Eosinophilia is a hallmark of helminth infections and eosinophils are essential in the protective immune responses against helminths. Nevertheless, the distinct role of eosinophils during parasitic filarial infection, allergy and autoimmune disease-driven pathology is still not sufficiently understood. In this study, we established a mouse model for microfilariae-induced eosinophilic lung disease (ELD), a manifestation caused by eosinophil hyper-responsiveness within the lung.</p> <p><strong>Methods:</strong> Wild-type (WT) BALB/c mice were sensitized with dead microfilariae (MF) of the rodent filarial nematode <em>Litomosoides sigmodontis </em>three times at weekly intervals and subsequently challenged with viable MF to induce ELD. The resulting immune response was compared to non-sensitized WT mice as well as sensitized eosinophil-deficient dblGATA mice using flow cytometry, lung histology and ELISA. Additionally, the impact of IL-33 signaling on ELD development was investigated using the IL-33 antagonist HpARI2.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> ELD-induced WT mice displayed an increased type 2 immune response in the lung with increased frequencies of eosinophils, alternatively activated macrophages and group 2 innate lymphoid cells, as well as higher peripheral blood IgE, IL-5 and IL-33 levels in comparison to mice challenged only with viable MF or PBS. ELD mice had an increased MF retention in lung tissue, which was in line with an enhanced MF clearance from peripheral blood. Using eosinophil-deficient dblGATA mice we demonstrate that eosinophils are essentially involved in driving the type 2 immune response and retention of MF in the lung of ELD mice. Furthermore, we demonstrate that IL-33 drives eosinophil activation <em>in vitro</em> and inhibition of IL-33 signaling during ELD induction reduces pulmonary type 2 immune responses, eosinophil activation and alleviates lung lacunarity.</p> <p>In conclusion, we demonstrate that IL-33 signaling is essentially involved in MF-induced ELD development.</p>

<p>This dataset is used in the analyses reported in the review entitled "Interleukin (IL)-1 blocking agents for the treatment of COVID-19 A living systematic review"</p> <p>IL-1 blockers are beneficial in inflammation-associated pathologies, such as rheumatoid arthritis (Mertens 2009) and possibly also in the subgroup of patients with severe sepsis where the inflammasome pathway is involved (Shakoory 2016). Similar benefits were reported in children with secondary macrophage activation syndrome, including cases triggered by viral infections (Mehta 2020b).</p> <p>In this review we aimed to assess the effectiveness of IL-1 blocking agents compared to placebo, standard of care or no treatment on outcomes in patients with COVID-19.</p> <p>This review is part of a larger project: the COVID-NMA project. We set-up a platform (<a href="https://covid-nma.com/">https://covid-nma.com</a>) where all our results are made available and updated bi-weekly. </p>
