<p>An <em>earlier collection</em> of Jâmî’s minor poems, after-wards embodied in the <em>first dîwân</em>.</p>
<p>This copy, which is unfortunately defective, is of quite an exceptional value, as it was written ten years before the final redaction of the <em>first dîwân</em>, dated, on fol. 219<sup>b</sup>, the 10th of Sha’bân, A.H. 874 (A.D. 1470, Feb. 12), by Darwîsh ‘Alî, known as Waisî (درويش على المعروف بويسى), and must contain therefore that earlier collection of lyrical poems which Jâmî, when about fifty years old, dedicated to Sulṭân Abû Sa’id, and which he afterwards included in <em>both parts</em> of his first dîwân; the usual preface: موزون ترين كلامى الخ, is wanting here (see the following two copies), but the contents quite agree with those in the best copies of this earlier collection in Rieu ii. pp. 644 and 646; Bodleian Cat., No. 947 (there incorrectly represented as <em>first dîwân</em>); G. <p>The usual initial ghazal of the <em>second part</em> of the first dîwân, on fol. 1<sup>b</sup>:</p>
<p>بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم – اعظم اسماء عليم حكيم</p>
<p>The second poem corresponds to the usual second one; the third is headed: فى نعت نبى الخ, and begins: اى ذات تو الخ, agreeing with fol. 192<sup>a</sup>, l. 10, in No. 2628 (1301 in this Cat.); with the sixth bait of this poem the copy breaks off, on fol. 2<sup>b</sup>, in consequence of a lacuna between ff. 2 and 3; on fol. 3<sup>a</sup>, l. 2, appears the tarji’band : ماء معين چیست الخ , corresponding to fol. 36<sup>a</sup>, l. 7 ab infra, in No. 2628; the next following poem, on fol. 6<sup>a</sup>, is a ḳaṣîdah, چو پیوند با دوست الخ, agreeing with fol. 23<sup>a</sup>, l. 11, in the same copy; these poems therefore were afterwards included in the <em>first part</em> of the first dîwân.</p>
<p>The usual alphabetical ghazals of the <em>second part</em> begin here, on fol. 7<sup>b</sup>: يا من بدا جمالك الخ.</p>
<p>Another set of tarjî’ât and marâthî (later included in the first part), on fol. 202<sup>a</sup>, beginning:صبحدم بادۀ شبانه زدیم الخ ; corresponding to fol. 41<sup>a</sup> , l. 3 ab infra, in No. 2628; on fol. 209<sup>a</sup> the usual musammaṭ of the <em>second part</em> : الا اى ماه الخ.</p>
<p>Muḳaṭṭa’ât, on fol. 213<sup>b</sup>; the first is not a proper ḳiṭ’ah, but a short ghazal; the second is the initial ḳiṭ’ah of the first dîwân : دلا منشين الخ .</p>
<p>Rubâ’îs, on fol. 216<sup>a</sup>, beginning: يا من ملكوت كلّ شئ بيده الخ, corresponding to fol. 321<sup>b</sup>, l. 4, in No. 2628.</p>
<p>On ff. 1<sup>a</sup>, 220<sup>a</sup>, and 220<sup>b</sup> there are written by the same hand some abrupt pieces in prose and verse, probably belonging to Jâmî also.</p>
