There is an index, on fol. 2b, according to which this collection is to be divided into seven ris&acirc;las and sixteen kit&acirc;bs, the latter consisting of The preliminary words of this index (comp. on the various modifications of the text, Rosen, Persian MSS., pp. 176-180) run here in a very short and inconsistent way, thus, on fol. In the copy itself no trace of this division is found, beyond the seven ris&acirc;las, the Gulist&acirc;n, and B&ucirc;st&acirc;n.</p> <p>2.Seven ris&acirc;las, i.e. the usual <em>six</em> and the مجلس هزل, or the first of the three mock homilies counted as seventh; <em>first</em> ris&acirc;lah, on fol. 2b margin; <em>second</em> (here must be read رسالۀ دوم instead of رسالۀ اوّل ), in five majlis, on ff. 5b, 7a margin, 10a, 11a, and 13a; <em>third</em>, on fol. 17a margin; <em>fourth</em>, on fol. 18b (در عقل و عشق, or as it is styled in the index: در عقل و عشق و رجحان عشق بر عقل) ; <em>fifth</em>, on fol. 20a; <em>sixth</em>, containing in this copy the <em>second story</em> only, در نصيحت انكيانو, on fol. 26a; <em>seventh</em>, on fol. 27a margin, beginning (as in No. 683 in the Bodleian Cat., col. 530, No. 7): چنین فرماید صاحب السیف و الفرس الخ.</p> <p>3.Gulist&acirc;n, on fol.30b.</p> <p>4.B&ucirc;st&acirc;n, or Sa&rsquo;d&icirc;n&acirc;ma, on fol. 86b, beginning: بنام جهاندارجان آفرين الخ.</p> <p>5.D&icirc;w&acirc;n (ديوان), consisting of:</p> <p><em>a</em>.Ḳaṣ&icirc;das, the first of which is an Arabic one, beginning, on fol. 167b: . الحمد الله ربّ العالمين على الخ</p> <p>The second, or first Persian one, begins in the usual way: شكر و سپاس و منّت الخ</p> <p><em>b</em>.Mar&acirc;th&icirc;, on fol. 191b, beginning like the Tarj&icirc;&rsquo;&acirc;t in the preceding copy: غريبانرا دل از مهر تو خونست الخ.</p> <p><em>c</em>.Tarj&icirc;&rsquo;&acirc;t, on fol. 200a, beginning: .اى زلف تو الخ</p> <p><em>d</em>.Ghazals, in alphabetical order, comprising the Ṭayyib&acirc;t, B&acirc;d&acirc;&rsquo;i&rsquo;, Khaw&acirc;t&icirc;m, and early ghazals, exactly as No. 8 in the preceding copy, on fol. 206b margin.</p> <p>Beginning: سپاس و حمد بى پايان خدارا الخ (which is usually the initial bait of the Khw&acirc;t&icirc;m, see No. 1118 in this Cat., fol. 412b).</p> <p><em>e</em>.Muḳaṭṭa&rsquo;&acirc;t, in alphabetical order, on fol. 338b, beginning:</p> <p>سخن بذكر تو آراستن مراد آنست</p> <p>كه پیش اهل ادب منصبى بود ما را</p> <p>This poem is included in some copies in the Ṣ&acirc;ḥibiyyah, see, for instance, No. 694 in the Bodleian Cat., col. 540, and W. Pertsch, p. 97, No. 70. The initial ḳiṭ&rsquo;ah of No. 1117 in this Cat., is found here on fol. 340a, l. 3 sq.</p> <p><em>f</em>.Rub&acirc;&rsquo;&icirc;s (not separated by a special heading from the Muḳaṭṭa&rsquo;&acirc;t), beginning apparently, on fol. 348b margin, with a quatrain in the metre of هزج ( مفاعيلن مفاعيلن فعولن ) :</p> <p>جهانرا الخ تدبير ( خداونديست) خداوندى است (see the same initial rub&acirc;&rsquo;&icirc; further down in No. 1127 in this Cat.); the first rub&acirc;&rsquo;&icirc; , in the orthodox metre, begins, on fol. 349a, as in No. 687 of the Bodleian Cat., col. 535, No. 23:</p> <p>اسيرند بيا الخ (read according to metre بدرگهت)عشّاق بدرگۀ تو.</p> <p><em>g</em>.Muṭ&acirc;yah&acirc;t or Khabith&acirc;t (here incorrectly styled فى الهزل و المزاخ), on fol. 356a margin; beginning of the prose-preface:قال السّعدى الزمنى بعض الخ. The first poem is identical with that in No. 1117 in this Cat.: خوش بود عيش الخ.</p> <p><em>h</em>.Short mathnaw&icirc;s (see No. 1120 in this Cat., in the part of the Mulamma&rsquo;&acirc;t and the remark there-upon) here styled Naṣ&acirc;&rsquo;iḥ (نصائح), or admonitions, and beginning, on fol. 360a margin:</p> <p>پيرى اندر قبيلۀ ما بود &ndash; كه جهان ديده تر زعنقا بود</p> <p>There are wanting in this copy the Arabic ḳaṣ&icirc;das, except the one at the beginning of No. 5, the Mulama&rsquo;&acirc;t, the Ṣ&acirc;ḥibiyyah, the Hazliyy&acirc;t, the Mufrad&acirc;t, and the Muḍḥik&acirc;t. It is dated the 20th of Ramaḍ&acirc;n, A.H. 1039 (A.D. 1630, May 3), by Ḥasan Muḥammad ibn Sh&icirc;r Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad Jiw ibn Y&ucirc;suf.
