<p>Dîwân-i-Ḥâfiż (ديوان حافظ)</p>
<p>The collected works of the greatest lyrical poet of Persia, Shams-aldîn Muḥammad Ḥâfiż of Shîrâz, who died, according to the best authorities, and the date engraved on the poet’s tombstone, A.H. 791 (A.D. 1389); see Haft Iḳlîm, No. 200, col. 393 above; a less trustworthy date is A.H. 792, an absolutely wrong one A.H. 794, found in Daulatshâh. <p>The preface of Muḥammad Gulandâm, who was a friend of Ḥâfiż, and collected after the poet’s death his scattered works, on fol. 1<sup>b</sup>, beginning: حمد بيحدّ و ثناى بى عدّ و سپاس بيقياس خداوندى را الخ.</p>
<p>Ḳaṣîdas, on fol. 6<sup>b</sup>, beginning:</p>
<p>جوزا سحر نهاد حمائل برابرم</p>
<p>يعنى غلام شاهم و سوگند میخورم</p>

<p>The second ḳaṣîdah corresponds to Brockhaus, No. 692:. زدلبرى نتوان الخ</p>
<p>One tarjî’band (entitled ساقى نامه), on fol. 14<sup>b</sup>, beginning: ساقى اگرت هوای ماهی الخ, see Bodleian Cat., No. 818.</p>
<p>One mukhammas, corresponding to Brockhaus, No 693, and Rosenzweig iii.p. 534, on fol. 18<sup>b</sup>, beginning: در عشق تو اى صنم الخ.</p>
<p>A short mathnawî of ten baits, on fol. 19<sup>b</sup>, beginning: هر كه آمد در جهان پر زشور الخ.</p>
<p>Ghazals, in alphabetical order, on fol. 20<sup>b</sup>, beginning with the usual bait:الا يا ايّها السّاقى الخ.</p>
<p>Muḳaṭṭa’ât, on fol. 175<sup>b</sup>, beginning: دل منه بر دنيى و اسباب وى الخ (Brockhaus, No. 574).</p>
<p>Mathnawîs, the first of which, on fol. 180<sup>b</sup>, styled ساقى نامه, begins: بيا ساقى آن مى الخ<strong>, </strong>comp<strong>. </strong>Bodleian Cat., No. 816. The second, on fol. 183<sup>a</sup><strong>, </strong>begins: سر فتنه الخ, see ibidem (printed in Wahl’s Arabische Anthologie ii. 38; in the Lucknow edition of 1285, p. 347 sq., it is styled, like the previous one, ساقى نامه; in Rosenzweig’s edition iii. p. 500, it forms part of the مغنّى نامه; comp. W. Pertsch, Berlin Cat., p. 850, note 5). The third, on fol. 184<sup>a</sup>, corresponds to Brockhaus, No. 685, beginning: الا اى آهوى الخ.</p>
