(Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1,</strong></a>&nbsp;<strong>number 2232 here with notations and hyperlinks].</strong></li> </ul> <p>1111</p> <p>The same.</p> <p>A very old and large, but unfortunately somewhat confused and extremely defective copy of Jal&acirc;l-ald&icirc;n R&ucirc;m&icirc;&rsquo;s d&icirc;w&acirc;n, consisting of several sections, each of which is arranged alphabetically.</p> <p><em>First section</em>, ghazals intermixed with Tarji&rsquo;&acirc;t, on fol. 5<sup>b</sup>, beginning, like the preceding copy, with the unalphabetical poem: الحمد لله الذى الخ.</p> <p>The second ghazal (the first alphabetical one) begins: داد و گفت ای پادشا چون بی نیازی تو زما الخ.</p> <p>A few other ghazals in the middle and also the last one are unalphabetical; two lacunas after ff. 26 and 32, the former breaking off with the fifth bait of a ghazal in ت, beginning: باز رسيديم زميخانه مست الخ, corresponding to No. 203 (1109 in this Cat.), fol. 81<sup>a</sup>, last line; the latter with the second bait of a ghazal in د, beginning: رفتيم و بقيّه را بقا باد الخ, corresponding to No. 203, fol. 100<sup>b</sup>, margin, l. 6 ab infra.</p> <p><em>Second section</em>, of similar contents, on fol. 210<sup>b</sup>, beginning: عقل در يابد ترا يا عشق يا جان صفا الخ.</p> <p>Lacunas after ff. 266 (267<sup>a</sup> filled with a horoscope), 298, 328, and 366; the first breaking off with the second bait of a ghazal in د, beginning: در تابش خورشيدست الخ, corresponding to No. 203, fol. 124<sup>a</sup> margin, l. 19; after the second all ghazals in ر and a number of those in ز are missing; the first complete ghazal, on fol. 299<sup>a</sup>, begins: ساقئ روحانيان روح شدم خيز خيز, corresponding to No. 203, fol. 200<sup>a</sup> margin, l. 1; the third breaking off with the fourth bait of a ghazal in م, beginning : از اصل چو حور زاد باشيم الخ, corresponding to No. 203, fol. 261<sup>b</sup>, l. 5 whilst fol. 329<sup>a</sup> opens with a poem in ن : اى زهجران تو مردم طرب و راحت من الخ; the fourth breaking off in a ghazal in ى, beginning: اگر آب و گل ما را چو جان و دل پری بودی الخ, which cannot be traced in No. 203, nor in any of the other copies.</p> <p><em>Third section</em>, of ghazals, on fol. 373<sup>a</sup>, beginning with a poem in د : اى كه بر روى تو خورشيد فلك كرده سجود الخ, after which at once ghazals in ر follow. A large lacuna after fol. 387 (fol. 388 filled with scribbling), which breaks off with the second bait of a ghazal in ر, beginning: اى دلير مهروى من الخ, which cannot be traced in the other copies; fol. 389<sup>a</sup> begins in the middle of a ghazal in ى. On fol. 407<sup>a</sup> sq. a series of rub&acirc;&rsquo;&icirc;s; at the end some poems without alphabetical order, again with lacunas after ff. 419 and 424.</p> <p>Ff. 1-5<sup>a</sup> contain a story in prose (حكايت) not connected with the d&icirc;w&acirc;n at all. At the end of the first section appears the date A.H. 825 (A.D. 1422), and the name of the traoscriber of that part of the MS., Muḥammad &lsquo;&Acirc;dil Ḳ&acirc;simkh&acirc;n, of Har&acirc;t. On fol. 1<sup>a</sup> among other entries the date A.H. 1022 (A.D. 1613).</p> <p>College of Fort William, 1825.</p> <p>No. 2232, ff. 425, 2 coll.
