<p>A defective copy of the same.</p>
<p>This excellent but defective copy contains:</p>
<p>1.Arabic ḳaṣîdas ( كتاب القصائد العربى), on fol. 1<sup>b</sup>, beginning as usual; they break off on fol. 8<sup>b</sup> in consequence of a lacuna after that page, in a poem rhyming in ١, which corresponds to the ḳaṣidah, on fol. 345<sup>a</sup>, in No. 1117 in this Cat., beginning: يا ملوك الجمال الخ.</p>
<p>The last bait here is the last on fol. 345<sup>a</sup> in that copy.</p>
<p>2.Some ghazals, on ff. 9 and 10, defective both at the beginning and end; the first bait:</p>
<p>گرما مقصّريم تو بسيار رحمتى</p>
<p>عمرى كه ميرود باميد وفاى تست</p>
<p>corresponds to No. 1121 in this Cat., fol. 230<sup>a</sup>, l. 4, and belongs in fact to the usual initial poem of the ‘early ghazals’ (which begins: اى يار ناگزير الخ); it would seem, therefore, as if these two leaves were part of a fuller collection of the غزليّات قديم , but, strange to say, these very ‘early ghazals’ follow further down, on fol. 145<sup>b</sup> sq., in an absolutely complete form with no visible lacuna, into which these stray leaves might fit.</p>
<p>3.Mulamma’ât and Muthallathât, on ff. 143<sup>a</sup>-144<sup>b</sup> and 11<sup>a</sup>-13<sup>a</sup>, beginning as in No. 1125 in this Cat., fol. 189<sup>b</sup>: .وقتها يكدم الخ</p>
<p>4.Tarjî’ât (or Murabba’ât, as they are called at the end), on fol. 13<sup>b</sup>, beginning; .اى زلف تو الخ</p>
<p>5.Ṭayyibât, in alphabetical order, on fol. 19<sup>b</sup>, beginning: .اوّل دفتر الخ .There is a lacuna after fol. 27; the last bait on fol. 27<sup>b</sup> corresponds to No. 1121 in this Cat., fol. 221<sup>a</sup>, l. 3 ab infra, the first complete poem, on fol. 28<sup>a</sup> to fol. 220<sup>b</sup>, last line, in the same copy. Ff. 50 and 51 are turned upside down, and must be read from 51<sup>b</sup> backward to 50<sup>a</sup>.</p>
<p>6.Badâ’i’, likewise in alphabetical order, on fol. 83<sup>b</sup>, beginning: الحمد لله ربّ العالمين الخ (see No. 1117 in this Cat.). There is a lacuna after fol. 84; the last bait on fol. 84<sup>b</sup> corresponds to No. 1117, fol. 247<sup>a</sup>, l. 5 ab infra, and the first complete poem, on fol. 85<sup>a</sup> to fol. 263<sup>a</sup>, l. 17 in the same copy. There is a second lacuna after fol. 92; the last bait on fol. 92<sup>a</sup> corresponds to No. 1121 in this Cat., fol. 286<sup>b</sup>, last line but one (in No. 1117 it cannot be traced); the first complete poem, on fol. 93<sup>a</sup> to No. 1117, fol. 253<sup>a</sup>, l. 14 (this again cannot be traced in No. 1121).</p>
<p>7.Khawâtim, on fol.96<sup>b</sup>, beginning: سپاس و حمد الخ.</p>
<p>8.Ṣâḥibiyyah, on fol. 108<sup>b</sup>, with the usual prose-preface, beginning here thus: الله الكافى حسب الخلائق وحده الحمد لله نعمه الخ. The first poem begins here (as in Rosen, Persian MSS., p. 196): ما هذه الدنيا بدار مخلّد الخ.</p>
<p>9.Muḳaṭṭa’ât, on fol. 123<sup>b</sup>, beginning: گر اهل معرفتی هر چه بنگری خوبست الخ</p>
<p>The initial poem of No. 1117, گويند سعديا الخ, is found here, on fol. 130<sup>a</sup>.</p>
<p>10.Khabîthât, on fol. 131<sup>b</sup>, beginning with the usual prose-preface. The initial poem begins:</p>
<p>آن شنيدى كه در بلاد شمال الخ</p>
<p>(corresponding to No. 1117 in this Cat., fol. 362<sup>a</sup>). They break off on fol. 134<sup>b</sup> in consequence of a lacuna.</p>
<p>11.Ḳiṭ’as, short mathnawîs, rubâ’îs, and fards, all mixed together, on ff. 135<sup>a</sup>-142<sup>b</sup>; the ḳiṭ’as probably belong either to the Ṣâḥibiyyah or the Muḳaṭṭa’ât (Nos. 8 and 9).</p>
<p>12.Early ghazals, on fol. 145<sup>b</sup>, beginning:با جوانى سر خوشست اين پيرئ تدبير را الخ (corresponding to No. 1121 in this Cat., fol. 209<sup>a</sup> margin, l. 6 ab infra, where, however, با جوانان is read instead of با جوانى); the second poem here begins like the Khawâtîm in No. 1125 in this Cat., fol. 332<sup>a</sup>, but in a metrically more correct form: گر ماه من بر افگند از رخ نقابرا الخ .</p>
<p>13.The end of the Bûstân, on fol. 179<sup>a</sup>, beginning: نكو نام را كس نگيرد اسير الخ. It comprises the last twenty-nine or thirty verses of the <em>ninth</em> and the whole tenth bâb, corresponding to Graf’s ed., p. 429, l. 5 to p. 444, l. 5.</p>
