A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 178; Rieu iii. p. 1071; Garcin de Tassy, Litt&eacute;rature Hindouie, etc., 2nd ed. i. p. 523; Journal Asiatique, 5<sup>e</sup> S&eacute;rie, ii. p. 369. It is arranged alphabetically, and contains, according to the index on ff. 70<sup>b</sup> and 71<sup>a</sup>, ninety-seven biographies. It begins with Sir&acirc;j-ald&icirc;n &lsquo;Al&icirc;kh&acirc;n &Acirc;rz&ucirc; (see above, Nos. 680 and 681), on fol.3<sup>b</sup>, and ends with &lsquo;Abd-alwahh&acirc;b Yakr&ucirc;, a pupil of &Acirc;br&ucirc;, on fol. 70<sup>b</sup>, l.2.</p> <p>Beginning: ابتداى سخن بحمد سخن آفرينى سزاست كه سر لوح نسخۀ كائنات را الخ .</p> <p>This is the oldest of the India Office copies, dated A.H. 1180 (A.D. 1766, 1767), and belonged formerly to Mr. J. Edward Hall (Benares, 1851), who lent it to Dr. A. Sprenger, as we learn from the latter&rsquo;s Catal., p. 178, note. On ff. 71<sup>b</sup> and 72 there is added by another hand the index of some Hind&ucirc;st&acirc;n&icirc; medical work.
