[IO Islamic 465] كلّيّات سعدى

<ul> <li><strong>Kulliyy&acirc;y-i-Sa&rsquo;d&icirc;.</strong></li> <li><strong>This manuscript is now IO Islamic 1129&nbsp;in the India Office collections.</strong></li> <li><strong>[metadata:</strong>&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Hermann_Eth%C3%A9"><strong>Hermann Eth&eacute;</strong></a><strong><em>,&nbsp;</em></strong><a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1323681"><strong><em>Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office,</em></strong>&nbsp;</a><a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1323681"><strong>2 vols. (Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1,</strong></a>&nbsp;<strong>number 465 here with notations and hyperlinks].</strong></li> </ul> <p>1129</p> <p>Another still more defective copy of the same.</p> <p>This very old copy is unfortunately very incomplete, and only contains:</p> <p>1.Gulist&acirc;n, on fol. 1b.</p> <p>2. Ṭayyib&acirc;t, on fol. 47b, beginning as usual: اوّل دفتر الخ.</p> <p>3.Khab&icirc;th&acirc;t, on fol. 153b, beginning with the usual prose-preface. The initial poem is the same as in the preceding copy.</p> <p>4.Ṣ&acirc;ḥibiyyah, on fol. 162a, beginning with the <em>fifth</em> ris&acirc;lah of the usual copies, which, exactly as in the Gotba copy (W. Pertsch, No. 70, see Bacher&rsquo;s remark on it in his &lsquo;Sa&rsquo;d&icirc;-Studien,&rsquo; p. 95), has been prefixed here to the Ṣ&acirc;ḥibiyyah; the first words of this ris&acirc;lah are identical with those of the same treatise in No. 1127 in this Cat., viz. الحمد لله تعالى و هوا لى من حمد الخ.</p> <p>The first initial poem of the proper Ṣ&acirc;ḥibiyyah, viz. ما هذه الدنيا بدار مخلّد الخ, appears on fol. 169a, and is the same as in the immediately preceding copy, on fol. 108b.</p> <p>The proper order of leaves in this part is: ff. 162-174, 183-190, 175-182, 191-193, 195-197; fol. 194, which clearly belongs to the same part, cannot be properly located; there are clearly mixed up here with the Ṣ&acirc;ḥibiyyah, as in many other copies, including some of the preceding ones, portions of the Muḳaṭṭa&rsquo;&acirc;t, Fardiyy&acirc;t, short mathnaw&icirc;s, and at the end also fragments of the Tarj&icirc;&rsquo;&acirc;t. A lacuna after fol. 197.</p> <p>5.The latter half of the B&ucirc;st&acirc;n, beginning abruptly on fol. 198a. The first bait here corresponds to p. 297, l. 6, in Graf&rsquo;s edition, that is about the middle of the <em>fifth </em>b&acirc;b; the <em>sixth</em> begins here on fol. 200a; the seventh, on fol. 204b; the <em>eighth</em>, on fol. 213a; the <em>ninth</em>, on fol. 219a; the <em>tenth</em>, on fol. 225a; this last b&acirc;b breaks off, on fol. 227b, with the bait: گنه عفو كرد آل يعقوب را الخ, corresponding to p. 443, last line in Graf&rsquo;s edition, so that the last sixth verses of the latter are wanting here; on fol. 228a, one fragmentary and one complete ghazal by Sa&rsquo;d&icirc; are added; fol. 228b contains in a very bad handwriting two ghazals by فرطوسى (sic! Perhaps فردوسى?); but they are partly injured, and partly quite illegible.</p> <p>The really very old character of the copy is evident from the use of ذ instead of د almost always at the end of words, as نذارذ, سپارذ, گمارذ, باذآمذ, نشايذ, افتاذ, آيذ, داذ, بغداذ, بگشاذ, نبارذ, نريزذ ( together with نريزد in the same poem, on fol. 104b etc.).</p> <p>No date.</p> <p>No. 465, ff. 228, 2 coll., each ll. 23; good old Naskh&icirc;; vignettes on ff. 1a, 47a, 153a, and 162b; small illuminated, but rather effaced headings, on ff. 1b, 47b, 153b, and 162b; size, 91/8 in. by 61/8 in.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
