Size 9 in. by 6 in.; foll. 16. Twenty-nine lines in a page.</p> <p>A treatise on the Size and Distance of the Planets and Fixed Stars, by GHIY&Acirc;TH AL-D&Icirc;N JAMSH&Icirc;D b. Mas&rsquo;&ucirc;d b. Maḥm&ucirc;d K&Acirc;SH&Icirc; , who flourished in the earlier part of the ninth century. ¹ It is called سُلَّم السماء , and also الرسالة الكمالية , from its dedication to the Waz&icirc;r Kam&acirc;l al-d&icirc;n Maḥm&ucirc;d. Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iii. 610; Cat. Lugd. iii. 133; Stewart, 104.</p> <p>This treatise consists of eight books (مقالة) and a خاتمة . The conclusion begins: و ليكن هذا آخر ما اوردنا فى هذه الرسالة الكمالية .</p> <p>Legibly written in a small Nasta&rsquo;liḳ hand. Dated end of Shaww&acirc;l, 850.</p> <p>Foll. 3 and 5 belong to an astronomical treatise in <em>Persian</em>, and were inserted at a later date.</p> <p>[Tippu.]</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>¹ He was one of the assistants of Ulugh Beg, see Ḥ.
