Ten lines in a page.</p> <p>Another <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kufic">Kûfic</a> MS., containing the following parts of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surah">Sûrah</a> <strong><a href="https://quran.com/6">6</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://quran.com/7">7</a></strong>:<sup>1</sup> (fol. 13*) Sû. 6, 57-61; (fol. 5*) 69-74; (fol. 11) 80-84; (foll. 4* and 9*) 91-96; (fol. 2) Sû. 7, 28-33; (fol. 14) 39-42; (fol. 1) 45-47; (foll. 8*, 7*, 17, 6, 18, 10, 15*, 3) 55-94; (foll. 19, 16*, 12) 155-166.</p> <p>The last leaf (six lines) contains parts of Sû. 7, 168, 169, with the <a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6186965">colophon</a> کتبه علی بن حمدان on the <em>recto</em>.</p> <p>Clumsy characters, rather cursive. Mostly red, sometimes green dots for vowels. Verses divided in the same way as in the <a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3934290">preceding MSS</a>. On several pages the writing has nearly disappeared.</p> <p>The last page bears six seals, with signatures: viz. of two Ṣafawî kings named Ismâ’îl and ʿAbbâs; of Akbar [<em>sic</em>]; of two servants of <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Shah-Jahan">Shâhjahân</a> [1592-1666], <a href="http://worldcat.org/identities/lccn-n89112993/">‘Inâyat Khân</a> [c. 1621-71] and <a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6106966">Fâḍil Khân</a> [d. 1663]; and of <a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6107103">I’timâd Khân</a>, a servant of <a href="https://referenceworks.brillonline.com/entries/encyclopaedia-of-islam-2/awrangzib-COM_0075">‘Âlamgîr</a> [1618-1707]. On the first page is written a treaty between several chiefs of <a href="https://referenceworks.brillonline.com/entries/encyclopaedia-of-islam-2/sind-COM_1083?s.num=0&s.f.s2_parent=s.f.book.encyclopaedia-of-islam-2&s.q=Sind">Sindh</a>, dated 25 Jumâda I., 1254 [= 16 August 1838], in <em>Persian</em>. This MS. belonged to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sindh_prize_property">Sindh Prize property</a>, and was presented to the Library of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_India_House">East India House</a> by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Broun-Ramsay,_1st_Marquess_of_Dalhousie">Lord Dalhousie</a>, 1853.</p> <p>---------------------</p> <p><sup>1</sup> The leaves have been entirely misplaced in binding; several are also bound upside down, marked above with an asterisk.</p> <ul> <li>[<strong>ed note</strong>: the manuscript is catalogued in the library as IO Loth 4.]</li> </ul> <p> </p>
