Adult patients admitted to the emergency department for suspicion of a community-onset sepsis were evaluated. The study was approved by the Regional Ethical Review Board of Gothenburg (376-11). The file includes data for patient characteristics, vital signs, biomarker measurements, cases of bacteremia, and patient classifications using Sepsis-2 and Sepsis-3 criteria.

Repository of Raw Datasets for the Study of Anticoagulation and the Incidence of Stroke and Other Outcomes in Patients with Left Ventricular Thrombus

The optimal duration of anticoagulation in patients with left ventricular thrombus (LVT) is unknown. The data package herein presented contains the data used to assess the effect of duration of anticoagulation in the incidence of stroke in patients with left ventricular thrombus (LVT) in a tertiary hospital. These data includes clinical and demographic information, treatment choices (vitamin K antagonists [VKA] versus direct oral anticoagulants [DOAC]), duration of treatment, reason for interruption of treatment, occurrence of stroke, acute myocardial infarction, bleeding events, thrombus resolution and recurrence, and death.
The raw dataset is available upon request to the corresponding author.

Changes in incident light intensity to streams with progressive hemlock mortality at 5 Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory study sites from 2005 to 2015
The purpose of this study was to document changes in light intensity to streams in areas affected by hemlock mortaity. From June 2005 to November 2015, relative light intensity at 5 locations along each stream reach was monitored every 5 minutes. This study was conducted at Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory. Five stream sites were located on 1st - 2nd order streams reaches affected by hemlock death. All sites were located in areas that have not been logged since the area became National Forest in the late 1920s and where streams passed through or were adjacent to permanent vegetation plots in which trees were measured in 1934-35, 1969-73 and 1988-93 (Elliott and Swank, 2008.)
Microblogging violent attacks on medical staff: A case study of the Longmen County People’s Hospital incident, an indication of a health care crisis in China

A violent attack on medical staff in Guangdong Province, in which a female doctor at Longmen County People’s Hospital (LCPH) was severely injured by a knife-wielding patient, has drawn significant public attention to the phenomenon of hospital violence and initiated discussions on how to resolve violence in hospitals. Social networking sites, such as Sina Weibo, a Chinese version of Twitter, have played a role in this public debate. The incident at LCPH provides an opportunity to examine how Weibo has been used in the debate about violence against medical staff in China. Using the Sina Weibo’s built-in search tool, we established a dataset of 661 Chinese-language micro-blogs containing the search terms: Longmen (“龙门”), doctor (“医生”), and slash (“砍”) that were posted between July 15, 2015, the date of the violent incident at LCPH, and August 15, 2015. We performed a content analysis of the micro-blogs to examine: users’ demographics, attitudes toward the injured doctor and the attacker, possible reasons for the hospital violence, and proposed measures for preventing doctors from violent incidents.

Microdata on vector abundance and IRS quality assurance (Estimating the impact of indoor residual spraying on sandfly abundance and incidence of visceral leishmaniasis in India from 2016 to 2022: an interrupted time-series analysis and modelling study)

This repository contains the microdata on vector abundance and quality assurance of indoor residual spraying (IRS) that was used to estimate the impact of IRS on sandfly abundance and incidence of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in India, as described in the paper "Estimating the impact of indoor residual spraying on sandfly abundance and incidence of visceral leishmaniasis in India from 2016 to 2022: an interrupted time-series analysis and modelling study" by Coffeng et al (https://doi.org/10.1016/S1473-3099(24)00420-1). These data were collected as part of a BMGF-funded project led by dr. Michael Coleman at the Liverpool School for Tropical Medicine, as described in an earlier paper by Deb et al (https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pntd.0009101).

This repository does not include microdata on VL cases as these are owned by India's National Center for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC, https://ncvbdc.mohfw.gov.in/).

Global-scale modeling of early factors and country-specific trajectories of COVID-19 incidence: a cross-sectional study of the first 6 months of the pandemic

Studies examining factors responsible for COVID-19 incidence are mostly focused at the national or sub-national level. A global-level characterization of contributing factors and temporal trajectories of disease incidence is lacking. Here we conducted a global-scale analysis of COVID-19 infections to identify key factors associated with early disease incidence. Additionally, we compared longitudinal trends of COVID-19 incidence at a per-country level and classified countries based on COVID-19 incidence trajectories and effects of lockdown responses. Univariate analysis identified eleven variables as independently associated with COVID-19 infections at a global level (p<1e-05). Multivariable analysis identified a 4-variable model as optimal for explaining global variations in COVID-19 (p<0.01). COVID-19 case trajectories for most countries were best captured by a log-logistic model, as determined by AIC estimates. Six predominant country clusters were identified when characterizing the effects of lockdown intervals on variations in COVID-19 new cases per country. Globally, economic and meteorological factors are important determinants of early COVID-19 incidence. Analysis of longitudinal trends and lockdown effects on COVID-19 highlights important nuances in country-specific responses to infections. These results provide valuable insights into disease incidence at a per-country level, possibly allowing for more informed decision making by individual governments in future disease outbreaks.
