SBC LTER: Daily averages of modeled significant wave height (Hs) and peak wave period (Tp) in the Santa Barbara Coastal area from the Coastal Data Information Program - Monitoring and Prediction System (CDIP MOP)
From http://cdip.ucsb.edu: The Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP) is a research group at Scripps Institution of Oceanography that monitors coastal waves and nearshore sand levels on regional scales. CDIP maintains a network of optimally-placed, directional wave buoys from San Diego to Eureka. The buoy measurements are used to initialize a high spatial resolution (100m x 100m) linear spectral wave propagation model. The resulting hourly hindcasts and nowcasts of CA coastal wave conditions have a level of accuracy that is not possible with more traditional wind-wave generation models that are initialized with modeled wind fields.

<p>Dataset and replication package for the paper <em>It's About Time: How to Study Intertemporal Choice in Systems Design</em> (Fagerholm, F., De los Ríos, A., Cárdenas Castro, C., Gil, J., Chatzigeorgiou, A., Ampatzoglou, A., Becker, C. (2023). It’s About Time: How To Study Intertemporal Choice in Systems Design. Information and Software Technology.). The dataset consists of answers to a scenario-based questionnaire that collects data on intertemporal choice in the context of software development. An analysis script is provided to show the details of the calculations and analyses performed for the paper. The replication package includes the protocol for data collection sessions and different versions of the task scenario and questionnaire. More information is given in the description file.</p>

Data and Supplementary Information : timber ressource dynamics in West African cocoa agroforestry systems
<p>Here we present three datasets (growthDB.csv, heightDB.csv and volumeDB.csv) describing 59 tree species used for wood production in cocoa Agroforestry System (AFS) in Côte d'Ivoire (West Afica). Our dataset includes a total of 4,634 trees: 2530 spontaneous and 2104 (trans)planted. </p> <p>We provide three table (per datasets in .csv format) with the following column per tree:</p> <p>- gensp: species latin names</p> <p>- dbh : tree diameter at breast height (cm)</p> <p>- age: tree age (years)</p> <p>- origin: tree origin (spontaneous or (trans)planted)</p> <p>- WDmean : tree wood density (g.cm³)</p> <p>- clus: study sites</p> <p>- indsp : species index</p> <p>- indclus : sites index</p> <p>- hlog: tree bole height (m)</p> <p>- vol : tree bole volume (m³)</p> <p>We also provide, the STAN code (models.stan) to assess the wood production potential of trees in cocoa AFS: (i) a model describing the diameter growth trajectories of trees as a function of their age, (ii) a model evaluating the relationship between tree diameter and bole height, and (iii) a model assessing the commercial volume of trees as a function of their diameter and bole height.</p> <p>Finally, we present additional tables and figures in Supplementary Information.pdf.</p>
Revised database of the Soil Information System of Latin America and the Caribbean, SISLAC
<p>This dataset contains the revised version of the SISLAC database in three formats: comma-separated values (.csv), microsoft access (.mdb) and PostGIS database (.backup). This database was reviewed and the inconsistencies found in the profiles and in the description of their horizons were corrected. Consists of two tables, one for the description of the profiles and the other with the description of the horizons and their properties. The key field between both tables is the profile identifier, column <strong><em>profile_id</em></strong>.</p>

Italian Soil Information System
<p>The application offers both soil and climatic information, related to 1:500,000 scale geography. The soil information systems of Italy is made up of a hierarchy of geographical layers, which includes soil regions, aimed at correlating the soils of Italy with the other European countries, soil systems, for the correlation of soil at the national level, and soil sub-systems, for the regional level. The databases provides an inventory of Italian soilscapes at two reference scale, Soil region (1:5,000,000) and Soil systems (1:500,000). Relation between entities (soil-typological-unit, soil derived profile, benchmark soil profile) and geography (soil mapping units), was also stored. Geographical layers (administrative boundaries, regionand province main towns, soil regions, and rasters of climatic variables) and correlation entities was also stored. Soil regions are a regionally restricted part of the soil cover characterized by a typical climate and parent-material association. Soil systems illustrate main Italian soilscapes and are composed of homogeneous areas as for physiography, lithology, river drainage network, and land cover. Each cartographic unit was described as combination of: i) a major landform, established according to main morphological process, slope, hypsometry, kind and degree of drainage, ii) two lithological types, iii) three land cover attributes. Maximum seven land components were recognized in each land system. A land component was a specific combination of morphology, lithology and land cover that was not delineated. 1412 soil observations have been stored on the Ms Access database mostly complete with 4284 analyzed soil horizons for the most common analytical parameters (pH in water; Carbon (C) - organic; Carbonate (CO3--) - Total; Clay, Sand, and Silt fraction; Available water capacity - estimated volumetric) and 2039 photos. Several climatic variables, relevant for soil evaluation and management, have been collected and stored. Climatical maps have been produced by spatialization of longterm statistics related to meteorological stations. The map of precipitation (AnnualRainfall) was obtained by ordinary kriging of 1,613 stations completed of long termannual average values. Mean annual air temperature was obtained by ordinary kriging of 944 stations of long-term average annual air temperature. The humidity index was obtained with a simple calculation (Annual Rainfall/Mean Annual Air Temperature). Average temperature of the soil to 50 cm was calculated on the basis of the average air temperature of the long term and field capacity of the soil at the same depth, accordingto the equation: Tm = soil to 0.5 m tm air + (field capacity to 0.5 m - 20.7) / 7.9 (Constantini et al., 1999). The mean annual soil temperatures map was obtained byordinary kriging of 6,660 data of average soil temperature at 50 cm.</p>

Geographic Information System for marine aquaculture in Argentina
<p>Planning the use of marine areas for aquaculture through the development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has taken on great importance recently . This is because GIS allows decision-making through the analysis and integration of a large amount of data of various kinds gathered in a single database. This system allows the incorporation of information on optimal environmental conditions for farm species and relevant data to develop strategies throughout the entire production chain, from service providers and inputs to the final marketing of the product. The recommended actions of the strategic guidelines for a more sustainable and competitive EU aquaculture in 2021–2030 (EC 2021) stated explicitly the need to “<em>Develop a more detailed guidance document on the planning for space and access to water for marine, freshwater and land-based aquaculture</em>”, highlighting the importance of the GIS.</p> <p>Here you will find 4 files with the following information:<br>1) <strong><em>Metadata.doc</em></strong> file with the details of the metadata used to diagram the GIS layers.<br>2) <em><strong>GIS.gpkg</strong></em> file with each of the layers in raster and vector format.<br>3) <em><strong>Land-based model.gpkg</strong></em> file with examples of GIS modeling for land-based facilities.<br>4) <strong><em>Open-water model.gpkg</em></strong> file with examples of GIS modeling for facilities in open systems.</p> <p> </p>

Measurements from CalCOFI cruises in the California Current System, including log of station information, weather, sea conditions as well as physical, chemical and biological measurements including including temperature, salinity, oxygen, density, sigma theta, phosphate, silicate, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, chlorophyll a, integrated chlorophyll a, primary productivity, and integrated primary production. 1949 - January 2020
Since 1949, hydrographic and biological data of the California Current System have been collected on quarterly CalCOFI cruises. The 59+ year hydrographic time-series includes weather, temperature, salinity, oxygen and phosphate observations. In 1961, nutrient analysis expanded to include silicate, nitrate and nitrite; in 1973, chlorophyll was added; in 1984, C14 primary productivity incubations were added. These data are being provided here in collaboration with CalCOFI-SIO in order to provide an additional queriable interface to the data. The data are updated on a regular basis from the CalCOFI hydrographic database.

<p>Dieser Crashkurs stellt das Referenzmodell Open Archival Information System (OAIS) vor, das die verschiedenen Tätigkeitsbereiche eines Langzeitarchivs beschreibt. Als internationaler Standard (ISO 14721) bietet das OAIS-Modell eine Kommunikationsgrundlage zum Thema der Digitalen Langzeitarchivierung. So sind zentrale OAIS-Begriffe wie Preservation Planning, Archival Information Package und Designated Community in der Langzeitarchivierungs-Community etabliert.</p> <p>In dieser Einführung werden die Aufgaben eines Digitalen Langzeitarchivs anhand der verschiedenen OAIS-Funktionseinheiten beschrieben. Ebenso bietet der Crashkurs einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Verarbeitungsstadien von Informationspaketen (SIP, AIP, DIP) in einem Langzeitarchiv.</p> <p>Dieser Crashkurs wurde als Lehrvideo für das Teil-Modul "Digitale Langzeitarchivierung" des <a href="https://www.th-koeln.de/weiterbildung/zertifikatskurs-data-librarian_63393.php">Zertifikatskurses "Data Librarian"</a> erstellt. MorphoGraphX2: Datasets that demonstrate how to create positional information with local coordinate systems
<p>Confocal image data sets and segmented meshes from various plant organs including the Arabidopsis root, flower, gynoecium, meristem, embryo and ovule. The data sets are used to demonstrate features available in MorphoGraphX software (<a href="http://www.MorphoGraphX.org">www.MorphoGraphX.org</a>), and how to use positional information to add spatial context to quantitative cellular data.
