Voltage-tunable optical parametric oscillator with an alternating dispersion dimer integrated on chip

With this commit we present or theoretical and experimental data together with plotting codes for our manuscript entitled "Voltage-tunable optical parametric oscillator with an alternating dispersion dimer integrated on chip".

Optical parametric oscillators enable the conversion of pump light to new frequency bands using nonlinear optical processes. Recent advances in integrated nonlinear photonics have led to the creation of compact, chip-scale sources via Kerr nonlinearity-induced parametric oscillations. While these sources have provided broadband wavelength tuning, the ability to tune the emission wavelength via dynamically altering the dispersion, has not been attained so far. Here we present a voltage-tunable, on-chip integrated optical parametric oscillator based on an alternating-dispersion dimer, allowing us to tune the emission over nearly 20 THz near 1550 nm. Unlike previous approaches, our device eliminates the need for a widely tunable pump laser source and provides efficient pump filtering at the drop port of the auxiliary ring. Integration of this scheme on a chip opens up the possibility of compact and low-cost voltage-tunable parametric oscillators with diverse application possibilities.

Data for "Advanced Structural Health Monitoring Method by Integrated Isogeometric Analysis and Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing"

This dataset includes the experiment and simulation data of a new structural health monitoring system using distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS) and Isogeometric Analysis (IGA).

The experiment setup was a 5mm thick PVC pipe with a fiber optic cable wrapped around the outer surface of the pipe. The PVC pipe was subjected to an applied deformation and the distributed strains along the optical fiber was measured with a Neubrescope (NBX7031) instrument using Rayleigh backscattering technology.

The simulation was performed using the in-house code JWRIAN-IGA developed in Joining and Welding Research Institute, Osaka University. The simulated data includes deformation, stress and strain distributions of the pipe, and projected one-dimensional fiber strains. The visualization files are post-processed with ParaView software.

Code and extensive data for training neural networks for radiation, used in "Implementation of a machine-learned gas optics parameterization in the ECMWF Integrated Forecasting System: RRTMGP-NN 2.0""

Data and code used in a paper submitted to JAMES titled : Implementation of a machine-learned gas optics parameterization in the ECMWF Integrated Forecasting System

1) The files ml_training_*.7z contain extensive datasets (in NetCDF format) for training neural network versions of the RRTMGP gas optics scheme as described in the paper. The datasets are read by ml_train.py.

2) The ML datasets were in turn generated using the input profiles (in NetCDF format) inside inputs_to_RRTMGP.zip by running the Fortran programs
rrtmgp_sw_gendata_rfmipstyle.F90 and rrtmgp_lw_gendata_rfmipstyle.F90
in rte-rrtmgp-nn/examples/rrtmgp-nn-training, which call the RRTMGP gas optics scheme, The input profiles contain millions of columns, hundreds of perturbation experiments (including hypercube-sampled gas concentrations), are derived from several different data sources (including CAMS reanalysis, GCM, and CKDMIP-MMM), and span present-day, preindustrial, and future atmospheric conditions. They could be used to generate training data for developing emulators of the full RTE+RRTMGP radiation scheme, not just gas optics (see nn_dev on the RTE+RRTMGP-NN repository on Github, used in a previous paper where different emulation methods were compared)

3) The Fortran and Python code used for data generation and NN training are found in rte-rrtmgp-nn/examples/rrtmgp-nn-training on the main branch on Github; an archived version is also included here (rte-rrtmgp-nn-2.0.zip). See the readme in the above sub-directory for further information.

INTEGRAL OMC First Catalog of Optically Variable Sources

The Optical Monitoring Camera (OMC) on board the high-energy INTEGRAL satellite provides photometry in the Johnson V-band within a 5 by 5 degree field of view. The OMC is able to detect optical sources brighter than around V ~ 18, from a previously selected list of potential targets of interest. After more than nine years of observations, the OMC database contains light curves for more than 70 000 sources (with more than 50 photometric points each). The objectives of the present work have been to characterize the potential variability of the objects monitored by OMC, to identify periodic sources and to compute their periods, taking advantage of the stability and long monitoring time of the OMC. The first catalog of variable sources observed by OMC has been developed with observations from October 2002 to February 2010. To detect potential variability, the authors have performed a chi-squared test, finding 5263 variable sources, for 1337 of which the periods have been determined, out of an initial sample of 6071 objects with good photometric quality and more than 300 data points each. They have studied the potential periodicity of these sources using a method based on the phase dispersion minimization technique, optimized to handle light curves with very different shapes. For each object in the catalog, the median of the visual magnitude, the magnitude at maximum and minimum brightness in the light curve during the window of observations and the period, when found, are provided. The types of variable objects in the catalogue include eclipsing binaries, pulsating stars, rotating stars, eruptive stars, extragalactic objects, X-ray binaries, cataclysmic variables, Be stars and other objects with unknown kinds of variability. Links to charts for each object, including the DSS image around the target, the unfolded and folded light curves with the periods that the authors have derived and/or with the cataloged ones are provided in this database. This table was created by the HEASARC in January 2013 based on the <a href="https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/ftp/cats/J/A+A/548/A79">CDS Catalog J/A+A/548/A79</a> file omc-var.dat. This is a service provided by NASA HEASARC .
