ResCult European Interoperable Database
<p>ResCult - Increasing Resilience of Cultural heritage: a supporting decision tool for the safeguarding of cultural assets.</p> <p> </p> <p>The overall objective of RESCULT is to enhance the capability of Civil Protection (CP) to prevent and mitigate impacts of disasters on sites of Cultural Heritage (CH). This will be done through the realization of an integrated European Interoperable Database (EID) for CH, designed to provide a unique framework for CP, national Ministries of CH, the European Union (EU), local authorities. Moreover, RESCULT will provide a disaster risk reduction strategy identifying tailored actions and investments to improve both prevention and resilience capacities.</p> <p>Specifically, RESCULT is working on the following three overall objectives:</p> <ol> <li>Improvement of the Disaster Risk Reduction strategy (for prevention and resilience), according to the principles of Sendai Framework.</li> <li>Increase cooperation and interoperability between EU member states for the sake of protecting Cultural Heritage (information sharing, interoperable protocols, best practices dissemination, alignment with EU policies/standards</li> <li>Enhancement of the capability of Civil Protection Bodies to understand/prevent/mitigate disasters impacts on Cultural Heritage</li> </ol> <p> </p> <p>https://www.rescult-project.eu/</p>

<p>The project "Stable methodologies to evaluate and measure quality, interoperability, blockchain and reuse of open data in the agricultural field", whose website is https://datause.es/, is a project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation - State Research Agency, with reference PID2019-105708RB-C22.</p> <p>Within the framework of the project, a bibliographic search is carried out in all thematic categories of the Web of Science (WoS) related to agriculture and related areas. FAIRsFAIR Data of Survey on Semantics and interoperability solutions
<p>As part of the EOSC project family the FAIRsFAIR - Fostering Fair Data Practices in Europe - project aims to supply practical solutions for the use of the FAIR data principles throughout the research data life cycle. The work package "WP2 FAIR Practices: Semantics, Interoperability, and Services" will produce three reports on FAIR requirements for persistence and interoperability to identify domain-specific standards and practices in use. These will review and document commonalities and possible gaps regarding semantic interoperability, and the use of metadata and persistent identifiers across infrastructures. They will also look into differences in terms of standards, vocabularies and ontologies. The collected information will be updated during the course of the project in cooperation with other tasks and EOSC projects.</p> <p>This survey was done to complement and validate the information from desk research for the first of these reports. It was aimed at data managers and data support experts. We hoped to get information about tools and services we might have missed, but also some reflections on the thinking around identifiers and ontologies and other semantic artefacts. The information was also collected to support preparing workshops on semantics and interoperability that are forthcoming in the project, as well as the work on software and services. The survey covers questions about metadata, use of persistent identifiers, use of semantic artefacts and handling research software.</p> <p>The survey was conducted as a joint effort with WP3, FAIR Policy and Practice and its open consultation, and was disseminated on the fairsfair.eu web pages, social media channels and via email lists. We received 66 answers during the period the survey was open, that is between 15 July to 2 October 2019.</p>

Persistence and interoperability in FAIR research data management - 1st FAIRsFAIR webinar
<p><strong>Webinar page: </strong>https://zenodo.org/record/3726149#.XnpRJXJ7k1k</p> <p>The main principles of FAIR data (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) have received wide acceptance in scientific data management circles. The work of further defining these principles and applying them in day-to-day knowledge sharing is ongoing.</p> <p>The FAIRsFAIR working group "<a href="https://www.fairsfair.eu/fair-practices-semantics-interoperability-and-services">FAIR practices: semantics, interoperability and services</a>" recently published the <a href="http://zenodo.org/record/3557381#.XiVxKSN7nIV">first iteration</a> of three annual reports on the state of FAIR in European scientific data. Based on studies of public information, especially EOSC infrastructure efforts, and on limited surveying and interviews, the report reviews and documents commonalities between infrastructures and obstacles to semantic interoperability - that is the use of metadata and persistent identifiers to enhance dissemination across infrastructures.</p>
Formalising a Gateway-based Blockchain Interoperability Solution with Event-B (Replication package)
<p>This repository holds the artefacts that raised the results of our first paper <em>Formalising a Gateway-based Blockchain Interoperability Solution with Event-B</em> to be presented at the <a href="https://icbc2024.ieee-icbc.org/workshop/crosschain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ICBC Cross-chain workshop</a>.</p> <p>In this paper, we explore the formalisation of a gateway-based interoperability solution with Event-B. The results showed that the method was suitable and that a straightforward specification could be developed considering Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric as the involved blockchains. The Event-B specification was assessed with three strategies that enabled its verification and validation. In particular, formal verification (e.g. safety properties), functional validation, and functional utility. These promising results constitute a step forward in the development of formal specifications for blockchain interoperability solutions.</p> <p>The artefacts generated in this research were:</p> <ul> <li>An Event-B specification of the gateway-based interoperability solution proposed by <a href="https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10346168" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener">Pandolfi et al.</a>. This specification is composed of three machines: an abstract machine and two refinements. One refinement describes the behaviour of the gateway and smart contracts involved when the source blockchain is Ethereum and the target blockchain is Hyperledger Fabric. The second refinement describes the behaviour of the gateway and smart contracts when the source is Hyperledger Fabric and the target Ethereum.</li> <li>Animations of the three specifications (i.e. abstract and refinements) that enabled us to validate the functional behaviour of the specification and provided the means to understand the gateways' behaviour without Event-B knowledge.</li> <li>An Event-B specficiation of a use case scenario that shows the utility of the specification.</li> </ul>

Case study on an integrated interoperable metadata model for geoscience information resources
<p>An integrated metadata schema was created to promote interoperability and to characterize historically collected geoscience data. The metadata standard describes the steps taken to develop a switching‐across methodology that allows geoscience metadata standards (ISO 19115, CSDGM, ANZLIC and INSPIRE) to communicate with one another. We also demonstrated a real example of one of the switching‐across that was created. A representative metadata schema was created using items from harmonization standards that might be optimally mapped. Semantic interoperability allows users to access equivalent classes across several metadata standards in a uniform and consistent rule. Insights to Inspire - Informatics: The Journey to Interoperability
<p>To accelerate translation, researchers need access to a broad range of data from a variety of sources (electronic health records, imaging, genetics, behavioral, etc.). These sources manage and store data differently, which creates the need for standardization. The Informatics Common Metric, which is in its second year, addresses the need to harmonize data across the CTSA Program. This will enhance our ability to collaborate on initiatives both within and outside the consortium. The metric also supports the following NCATS strategic objective: “Develop interoperable and integrative biomedical informatics resources to facilitate translational innovation in disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.”<br> <br> The Common Metrics Initiative team is disseminating a series of brief webcasts from CTSA Program experts with topics ranging from foundational information to understand the field of informatics to how to get to interoperability.</p> <p>The goal for I2I 2021 is to build a community of expertise among CTSA Programs to create true data interoperability across the consortium. To meet this goal, the focus of these webcasts is to:</p> <ul> <li>Encourage hubs to assess their current status with regard to data quality and completeness and standardization to advance clinical and translational science</li> <li>Assist hubs in improving their processes, such as implementing protocols and developing new tools</li> <li>Identify the needs of personnel and interdisciplinary teams, and finally, to</li> <li>Determine key national data networks and local partnerships</li> </ul> <p><em>The first five webcasts are an introduction to informatics, created to build foundational knowledge and to define key terms.
