Lightning Potential Index Using ICON Simulation at the km-scale over the Third Pole Region: ISS-LIS events and ICON-CLM simulated LPI

This dataset contains records of lightning events recorded by the International Space Station (ISS) Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) from October 2019 to September 2022 in the Third Pole region. Furthermore, the Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic Weather and Climate Model in Climate Limited-Area Mode (ICON-CLM) was utilized to simulate the hourly Lightning Potential Index (LPI) over the Third Pole region for the same duration. The aforementioned dataset was utilized in the creation of the research article titled "Modeling Lightning Activity in the Third Pole Region: Performance of a km-scale ICON-CLM Simulation" authored by Prashant Singh and Bodo Ahrens. The paper has been submitted to the journal Atmosphere. In CORDEX-FPS-CPTP contribution no. 17 (GUF), you can find more data from ICON-CLM, such as precipitation, CAPE, wind vectors, and more.

e-LiS, e-prints in library & information science: metadata in RDF/XML

This RDF-XML dump contains metadata about the items deposited in e-LiS (http://eprints.rclis.org), converted in Linked Open data.

"Established in 2003, e-LIS is an international digital repository for Library and Information Science (LIS), including Communication. It has grown thanks to a team of volunteer editors that support 22 languages. The development of an international network has been stimulated by the extension of the Open Access concept to works and facilitated by the dissemination of material within the LIS community. These are some of the reasons for the success of e-LIS.

In a few years, e-LIS has been established as the largest international open repository in the field of library and information science."

LIS 0.1 DEGREE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION GRIDDED LIGHTNING FULL CLIMATOLOGY (VHRFC) V1

The LIS 0.1 Degree Very High Resolution Gridded Lightning Full Climatology (VHRFC) dataset consists of gridded full climatologies of total lightning flash rates seen by the Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) from January 1, 1998 through December 31, 2013. LIS is an instrument on the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission satellite (TRMM) used to detect the distribution and variability of total lightning occurring in the Earth's tropical and subtropical regions. This information can be used for severe storm detection and analysis, and also for lightning-atmosphere interaction studies. The gridded climatologies include annual mean flash rate, mean diurnal cycle of flash rate with 24 hour resolution, and mean annual cycle of flash rate with daily, monthly, or seasonal resolution. All datasets are in 0.1 degree spatial resolution. The mean annual cycle of flash rate datasets (i.e., daily, monthly or seasonal) have both 49-day and 1 degree boxcar moving averages to remove diurnal cycle and smooth regions with low flash rate, making the results more robust.
