FIGURE 4 in A taxonomic review of Lampris guttatus (Brünnich 1788) (Lampridiformes; Lampridae) with descriptions of three new species
FIGURE 4. Species of the genus Lampris. A) Lampris immaculatus*, B) Lampris guttatus, uncatalogued, 118 cm TL†, C) AM I.24492-001, holotype, Lampris australensis n. sp. 67.3 cm SL, D) MMF 42253, Lampris lauta, 90.5 cm SL, E) USNM 402733, holotype, Lampris megalopsis n. sp., 85.3 cm SL, F) USNM 402731, holotype, Lampris incognitus n. sp., 82.8 cm SL. FIGURE 3. Scree plot of percent variance explained by principal components of morphometric measurements for 123 specimens of Lampris incognitus n. sp. and L. megalopsis n. sp
FIGURE 5. Top. NRM 54834 in A taxonomic review of Lampris guttatus (Brünnich 1788) (Lampridiformes; Lampridae) with descriptions of three new species
FIGURE 5. Top. NRM 54834, Neotype Lampris guttatus, 100.5 cm SL, Bormes-les-Mimosas, France. Bottom. MOM POI- 0004791, Paraneotype Lampris guttatus, 97 cm SL, Northeast Atlantic, landed in Denmark. Note that specimen was frozen for several years before examination and color pattern is abnormal due to freezing process. Opahs are known to have a sexually dimorphic characteristic of an enlarged abdomen in males. MOM POI-0004791 was confirmed as female and we surmise that NRM 54834 is a male.
FIGURE 2 in A taxonomic review of Lampris guttatus (Brünnich 1788) (Lampridiformes; Lampridae) with descriptions of three new species
FIGURE 2. Scatterplot of principal components one and two from principal component analysis of seven linear morphometric measurements for Lampris incognitus n. sp. (purple) and L. megalopsis n. sp. (blue) for 123 specimens examined. Ellipses represent 95% confidence intervals.

FIGURE 1. Bayesian tree of combined DNA sequence data (COI, CytB, Rag2) from Hyde et al. (2014) using the taxonomic scheme presented herein. Numbers at nodes are posterior probabilities. Inset table shows K2P genetic distance for COI below the diagonal and concatenated dataset above diagonal (COI, CytB, Rag2) from Hyde et al. (2014).
