Vase from the Late Bronze Age
This vase from the Late Bronze Age, c. 1100-500 BC was found during an excavation of a cemetery at the southern coast of Skåne, Sweden in 1925. The site is close to [Abbekås](https://bit.ly/3n8lZqk) in Skivarp parish. It was used as a container for cremated bones. The biconical shape with a high cylindrical neck and a low and flared lower part is typical for finer ware in Europe during this period. From Italy in the south to southern Scandinavia. The vessel has a black colour, because it was fired in a reducing atmosphere (low in oxygen). The vessel has two handles, probably just for decoration and a sophisticated décor of oblique flutes on the shoulder. This type of décor is popular during this period in Italy, Central Europe and Southern Scandinavia. It is not know if the vase was made in Sweden or imported. Late Bronze Age Socketed and Looped Axe
Culture: [Bronze Age](http://n2t.net/ark:/99152/p0ff3dtkhrj) Material: Bronze Dims: L 89.9cm Accession No: HCA 283 Current Location: [The Hunt Museum](https://www.huntmuseum.com/) [Limerick](https://www.geonames.org/7778675/limerick-city.html) This bag-shaped, looped socketed [axe](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300024664) weighing 293.4g, has a slightly uneven, rounded mouth, slight bevel on the rim and short collar. A thick loop is set at its base. The cutting edge is well expanded with very little wear. The blade surface is smoothened, the rest pitted and rough. The patina is mottled brown and dull. A half-rib extends half way to the rim. The findspot is Limerick. These axes are predominant in Late Bronze Age Ireland with 1,300+ examples. Wmid-cfda5a - Late Bronze Age Spearhead
A near complete leaf shaped spearhead of Late Bronze Age date (Ewart Park phase, c. 950 - 750 BC). The spearhead is 90% complete; an irregular tear is present along the mid-rib socket between the two blades. The overall shape of the spearhead is broadly leaf shaped, with a 'flame shaped' blade. Two circular peg holes are present, one on either side of the socket. These have an internal diameter of 6.1 mm. The base of the socket is circular and has a depth of 123.7 mm. Blade facets are visible along the edge of the blades on the undamaged side. This type of spearhead is consistent with that of the Ewart park phase and a parallel can be found in the Shropshire Marches VII hoard. It is consistent with dating between 950 BC and 750 BC. <p>Nálezy z archeologického výzkumu v Březnici (okr. Tábor) v letech 2005-2009 a 2019. Výzkum provedl O. Chvojka (Archeologický ústav FF JU v Českých Budějovicích). Data zahrnují údaje o keramice a dalších nálezech použitých k depoziční analýze sídlištních objektů mladší doby bronzové, zejména tzv. žlabů. Výsledky analýzy jsou publikovány v Chvojka et al. 2021. Popis databáze je obsažen v přiloženém PDF souboru. Podpořeno Grantovou agenturou ČR (18-10747S).</p> <p>Finds from the archaeological excavations in Březnice (Tábor district, South Bohemia, Czech Republic) in 2005-2009 and 2019. The fieldwork was directed by O. Chvojka (Institute of Archaeology, South Bohemian University in České Budějovice). Data concern the pottery fragments and other finds (daub, loom weights) used for the analysis of deposition processes in the Late Bronze Age settlement features. Based on this material, a model of house biography and the concept of closing rituals were formulated (see Chvojka et al. 2021). These models suggest an interpretation for the so-called trenches, specific sunken features filled with an unusually rich content of secondary-burnt pottery and other finds. Details of the database are given in the attached PDF file. Borgwardt in der Tollense eine intakte Bronzefigur, die eine menschliche Person mit weiblichen Geschlechtsmerkmalen darstellt (L. 14,7 cm; Gew. 154,55 g). Die Figur entspricht den spätbronzezeitlichen, in der Regel als Einzelfunde geborgenen Götterfiguren, wie sie vornehmlich aus Südschweden und den dänischen Inseln bekannt sind. Late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age Pottery Bowl Data were collected as part of a joint research project between GDH and the Association for the Digitization and Informatisation of Cultural Heritage (DIGI.BA) in Sarajevo, in full collaboration with The Sarajevo Museum.
