CAMELS-LUX: Highly Resolved Hydro-Meteorological and Atmospheric Data for Physiographically Characterized Catchments around Luxembourg

<p>The CAMELS-LUX dataset encompasses hydro-meteorological time series and catchment attributes for 56 partly nested stream gauges feeding into the Luxembourgish stream network. The data is available at three temporal resolutions: daily, hourly and at a 15-minute resolution and spans the hydrological years from 2004-11-01 to 2021-10-31. The static catchment attributes cover parameters classifying the topography, geology and land use as well as climatic and hydrologic annual statistics of the 17-year time period.</p> <p>While an in depth description of the dataset as well as background information on catchments, the environment and exact calculation methods is provided in the accompanying publication in ESSD, the dataset description below isolates information on the available parameters and data structure contained in the provided files.</p> <p>Please note that the dataset might not include data corrections or validations that are subject to a date later than the date of the retrieval of the data for the processing of this dataset. This dates back to 2022 for most hydrologic time series, and to 2023 for the reanalysis data or the precipitation data. We are aware of duplicate rows in the time series file with a resolution of 15 minutes for catchment 16 as well as time stamp shifts in the precipitation data. Detailed sap flow monitoring data at Weierbach catchment, Luxembourg

<p>The current repository contains the dasometric data of monitored trees, hourly sap flow data, and tree surveys carried out at the Weierbach catchment during 2019 and 2020. The monitored trees include the following species:</p> <p>- Beech (<em>Fagus sylvatica </em>L.)</p> <p>- Douglas Fir (<em>Pseudotsuga menziesii</em> (Mirbel) Franco)</p> <p>- Spruce (<em>Picea abies </em>L.)</p> <p>- Oak (hybrids of <em>Quercus petraea</em> (Matt.) Liebl. and <em>Quercus robur </em>L.)</p> <p>The sap flow data for all the trees is presented in cm/hr.</p> <p>The bark data presented in the "dasometry_individual_trees.csv" was obtained from the literature.</p>

Results from national testing programs on the occurrence of chemical contaminants in food and feed - Luxembourg

<p>In the framework of Articles 23 and 33 of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 EFSA has received from the European Commission a mandate (M-2010-0374) to collect all available data on the occurrence of chemical contaminants in food and feed. Luxembourg results from the monitoring of pesticide residues in food

<p>This dataset contains the analytical results of pesticide residues measured in the food products analysed by the national competent authorities. Pesticide residues resulting from the use of plant protection products on crops that are used for food or feed production may pose a risk factor for public health. For this reason, a comprehensive legislative framework has been established in the European Union (EU), which defines rules for the approval of active substances used in plant protection products, the use of plant protection products and for pesticide residues in food. In order to ensure a high level of consumer protection, legal limits, so called &ldquo;maximum residue levels&rdquo; or briefly &ldquo;MRLs&rdquo;, are established in Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. EU-harmonised MRLs are set for all pesticides covering all types of food products. A default MRL of 0.01 mg/kg is applicable for pesticides not explicitly mentioned in the MRL legislation. Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 imposes on Member States the obligation to carry out controls to ensure that food placed on the market is compliant with the legal limits.</p> <p>A sample is considered <strong>free of quantifiable residues</strong> if the analytes were not present in concentrations at or above the limit of quantification (LOQ). The LOQ is the smallest concentration of an analyte that can be quantified with the analytical method used to analyse the sample. It is commonly defined as the minimum concentration of the analyte in the test sample that can be determined with acceptable precision and accuracy.</p> <p>If a sample <strong>contains quantifiable residues</strong> but within the legally permitted limit (maximum residue level, MRL), it is described as a sample &nbsp;with quantified residue levels within the legal limits (below or at the MRL)</p> <p>A sample is considered <strong>non-compliant</strong> with the legal limit (MRL), if the measured residue concentrations clearly exceed the legal limits, taking into account the measurement uncertainty. One year of high frequency monitoring of groundwater physico-chemical parameters in the Weierbach Experimental Catchment, Luxembourg.

<p><span>We present a novel dataset from the Weierbach Experimental Catchment in Luxembourg, derived from a year-long high-frequency monitoring campaign focused on groundwater physico-chemical parameters. Through meticulous data collection and rigorous quality control, parameters such as electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, oxidation-reduction potential, pH and cations/anion concentrations were measured, offering new insights into the CZ's hydrological and biogeochemical dynamics. The dataset highlights the intricate interplay between redox reactions, pH, and ion exchange processes, as well as the influence of seasonal variability and flowline interactions on solute transport.</span></p> <p><span>By providing a detailed view of the catchment's response to hydrological changes, this dataset fills a significant gap in CZ research, offering a valuable resource for advancing our understanding of hydro-biogeochemical catchment processes. This contribution is not only a step forward in CZ science but also serves as a critical tool for researchers and practitioners aiming to refine models, inform land management practices, and foster a more holistic understanding of catchment biogeochemistry.</span></p>

Results from the monitoring of veterinary medicinal product residues and other substances in live animals and animal products - Luxembourg

<p>This dataset contains the monitoring results of veterinary medicinal product residues and other substances measured in live animals and animal products analysed by the national competent authority of Luxembourg. The presence of unauthorised substances, residues of veterinary medicinal products in food may pose a risk factor for public health.</p> <p>For this reason and in order to ensure a high level of consumer protection, a comprehensive legislative framework has been established in the European Union (EU) which defines maximum limits permitted in food and monitoring programmes for the control of the presence of these substances in the food chain. Regulation (EU) No 37/2010 establishes maximum limits for residues of veterinary medicinal products in food-producing animals and animal products. Maximum residue levels for pesticides in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin are laid down in Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. &nbsp;Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1646 lays down practical arrangements for and specific content of official controls of the use of veterinary medicinal products in live animals and products of animal origin through three different official national control plans: a national risk-based control plan for production in the Member States, a national randomised surveillance plan for production in the Member States and a national risk-based control plan for third-country imports. Additionally, Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1644 lays down the range of samples and stage of production, processing and distribution at which the samples are to be taken.</p> <p>Since 2018 until 2022, the data on the national residue monitoring plan were reported to EFSA in accordance with Council Directive 96/23/EC.</p> <p>The dataset contains the results of laboratory tests from samples taken from bovines, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, poultry, rabbits, farmed game, wild game aquaculture, milk, eggs and honey, and from 2023 also samples from casings, insects and reptiles.</p> <p>Targeted samples are taken with the aim of detecting illegal treatment or controlling compliance with the maximum levels laid down in the relevant legislation. This means that, in their national plans Member States target the groups of animals (species, gender, age) where the probability of finding residues is the highest. Conversely, the objective of random sampling is to collect significant data to evaluate, for example, consumer exposure to a specific substance.</p> <p>Suspect samples are taken as a consequence of i) non-compliant results on samples taken in accordance with the control plans, ii) possession or presence of prohibited substances at any point during manufacture, storage, distribution or sale through the food and feed production chain, or iii) suspicion or evidence of illegal treatment or non-compliance with the withdrawal period for an authorised medicinal veterinary product.</p> <p>Residues of pharmacologically active substances mean active substances, excipients or degradation products and their metabolites, which remain in food.</p> <p>Unauthorised substances mean substances that are not authorised as veterinary medicinal products or as a feed additive under European Union legislation.</p> <p>Prohibited substances mean substances which are prohibited for use in food producing animals according to the European Union legislation.</p> <p>Non-compliant sample is a sample that has been analysed for the presence of one or more substances and failed to comply with the legal provisions for at least one substance. Questionnaire for surveys on Urban Green Space use and survey raw data for Brussels (Belgium), Luxembourg-city (Luxembourg) and Rouen (France)

<p>The repository contains the xml files of survey questionnaires on the use of urban green spaces. All survey files are translated into three languages (English, French and German).</p> <p>At the time of this publication, these questionnaires have already been used for conducting face-to-face surveys in 2016 in Brussels (Belgium), in 2017 in Luxembourg-city (Luxembourg) and in 2017 in Rouen (France).</p> <p>The results of these surveys are provided in raw data format (csv files), after anonymisation (home and workplace locations have been removed).</p> <p>Please feel free to contact us for any supplementary info.</p>
