Sea-surface pCO2 maps for the Bay of Bengal based on machine learning algorithms

<p>The dataset contains two products, the first being sea-surface <em>p</em>CO2 and the second being air-sea CO2 flux for the Bay of Bengal region. The data is climatological data, with 12 months of the climatological year. Each of these data has a spatial resolution of 1/12o. The positive value of CO2 flux indicates the outgassing of CO2, and the negative value shows the uptake of atmospheric CO2. This version contains an elaborate description in the attribute section of the NC files, which is missing from the previous versions.</p>

PERFORMANCE OF MACHINE LEARNING ALGORITHMS FOR LUNG CANCER PREDICTION: A COMPARATIVE STUDY

<p>This study compares the performance of five machine learning algorithms&mdash;logistic regression, support vector machines, random forests, gradient boosting, and neural networks&mdash;for lung cancer prediction using demographic, lifestyle, and medical data from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. Gradient boosting and random forests achieved the highest accuracy (89% and 87%, respectively) and AUC-ROC scores (0.93 and 0.92), while neural networks reached 90% accuracy but presented interpretability limitations. Key predictors included smoking history, chronic disease, and respiratory symptoms, aligning with established risk factors. Ensemble methods, particularly gradient boosting and random forests, provided an optimal balance of accuracy and interpretability, highlighting their potential for clinical applications in early lung cancer detection.</p>

Assessing predictive performance of supervised machine learning algorithms for a diamond pricing model

<p>The diamond is 58 times harder than any other mineral in the world, and its elegance as a jewel has long been appreciated. Forecasting diamond prices is challenging due to nonlinearity in important features such as carat, cut, clarity, table, and depth. Against this backdrop, the study conducted a comparative analysis of the performance of multiple supervised machine learning models (regressors and classifiers) in predicting diamond prices. Eight supervised machine learning algorithms were evaluated in this work including Multiple Linear Regression, Linear Discriminant Analysis, eXtreme Gradient Boosting, Random Forest, k-Nearest Neighbors, Support Vector Machines, Boosted Regression and Classification Trees, and Multi-Layer Perceptron. The analysis is based on data preprocessing, exploratory data analysis (EDA), training the aforementioned models, assessing their accuracy, and interpreting their results. Based on the performance metrics values and analysis, it was discovered that eXtreme Gradient Boosting was the most optimal algorithm in both classification and regression, with a R2 score of 97.45% and an Accuracy value of 74.28%. As a result, eXtreme Gradient Boosting was recommended as the optimal regressor and classifier for forecasting the price of a diamond specimen.</p>

BRAIN Journal-Automatic Anthropometric System Development Using Machine Learning-Figure 4. Flowchart and results of ICP algorithm

<p>The key concept of the standard ICP algorithm can be summarized in two steps: - Compute correspondences between the two scans. - Compute a transformation which minimizes the distance between corresponding points. It is forced to add a maximum matching threshold dmax. In most implementations of ICP, the choice of dmax represents a tradeoff between convergence and accuracy. A low-value result in bad convergence, a large value causes incorrect correspondences to pull the final alignment away from the correct value. Figure 4 describes the steps of the algorithm which determines the point features closest to object boundary. The result of the algorithm is described by images cut from the program (Нгуен, 2016)</p>

MACHINE LEARNING ALGORITHMS FOR ANOMALY DETECTION IN PUBLIC DATA USING GITHUB AS AN EXAMPLE

<p>This study explores the application of machine learning algorithms for detecting anomalies in GitHub data to enhance the evaluation of technological projects. The research aims to develop a robust methodology for identifying data anomalies, such as artificial activity spikes, that can distort project assessments. Methods such as Isolation Forest, One-Class SVM, and advanced deep learning techniques like autoencoders and GANs are employed to analyze and identify irregular patterns in GitHub repositories. The findings demonstrate that these algorithms effectively detect both obvious and subtle anomalies, offering reliable insights into project authenticity. The proposed conceptual model integrates these methods into a scalable system, enhancing transparency and accuracy in technological project evaluation. The novelty of this work lies in its comprehensive approach to analyzing GitHub data, combining traditional and deep learning techniques to improve the reliability of assessments, making it a significant contribution to the field.</p>
