<p>This dataset contains satellite-derived chlorophyll-a data of the Western Water Treatment Plant (Melbourne, Australia) for the period 21 Mar. 2013 - 01 Feb. 2021. Chlorophyll-a concentrations have been calculated using Mixture Density Networks and Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8 imagery.</p> <p>Mixture Density Networks are a class of neural networks that tackle the inverse problem by modelling the multimodal distribution of target variables using a mixture of Gaussians. A Dataset for EV movement and charging based on metropolitan Melbourne
<p> This document presents a dataset based on which electric vehicle (EV) movement and charging may be simulated. Data is collected from various sources describing the metropolitan Melbourne area and comprises: A list of EVs, suburb locations and dwelling statistics, residential consumption patterns considering deviations based on suburb and household size, statistics regarding work behaviour including commute patterns, pricing for various electricity products as well as statistical data to derive rooftop photo voltaic (PV) generation. Furthermore, methodologies are provided to create rudimentary probability distributions describing forecasts for residential electricity consumption and rooftop PV generation based on historic data. Lastly, a methodology for basic shift scheduling is presented, allowing to create basic travel patterns for EVs commuting between their residences and places of employment.</p>
1956 Melbourne Olympic Torch
Melbourne's 1956 summer Olympics saw a number of events held at Lake Wendouree, Ballarat, and was an important moment in the town's history. This torch was used in the relay event, and forms part of a small collection of material donated to the City of Ballarat by Ballarat-born Olympians Robert 'Bob' Bath and John Vernon. Other items include a Visitors Book signed by 1956 canoeing and rowing teams from competing countries, as well as one of four Olympic flags used in Ballarat during the 1956 Games. This dataset contains satellite-derived water quality (WQ) data of Western Water Treatment Plant (Melbourne, Australia) for the years 2015-2019. Available parameters are: Total Absorption (ABS), Chlorophyll-a (CHL), Harmful Algae Bloom Indicator (HAB), True-color image (RGB), Secchi Disc Depth (SDD), Total Suspended Matter (TSM) and Turbidity (TUR). WQ parameters have been calculated using EOMAPs physics-based MIP from Sentinel-2. The data are available as GeoTiff files in web-mercator projection (EPSG: 3857). Richness and abundance of both butterflies and floral resources in residential gardens across southwestern Melbourne, Australia's greater metropolitan area
<p><span>Wildlife gardening is a popular activity undertaken within residential areas. It is broadly promoted as a means of encouraging residents to make their gardens more 'wildlife friendly'. While theory and anecdotal evidence suggest these schemes should be effective, quantitative evaluation of wildlife gardening practices and programs is lacking across most taxa they target. </span></p> <p><span>Our overall objective in collecting this data was to determine if there was a difference in butterfly richness or abundance between gardens managed and not managed to benefit wildlife. </span>To test this, the data were collected at two spatial scales: landscape level representing our 500x500 m sampling cells and garden level representing our wildlife and traditional residential gardens. At the landscape level, butterfly and floral data were collected along a 1-km long Pollard walk through the sampling cell. At the garden level<span> we conducted point counts for butterflies in residential gardens participating in a wildlife gardening program and compared them to non-participating control gardens within the same sampling cell and from areas not targeted by the gardening program. At both levels we counted floral resources and calculated tree cover (%) within the surrounding landscape as both are important potential resources for butterflies within the landscape. The amount </span>(%) of impervious surface cover within the entire sampling cell and within the landscape surrounding each garden was also measured as it is known to have a negative effect on the butterfly community. </p>

Melbourne Google Street View imagery dataset
<p>The data presented in this article is related to the research article entitled "Urban design using generative adversarial networks: optimising citizen health and wellbeing" (Wijnands et al 2018). The data consists of Google Street View (Google Maps, 2017) imagery (4,473,991 images, 8-bit JPEG at 256x256 resolution) from four headings (0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees) at 1,118,534 locations in the greater metropolitan area of Melbourne, Australia. Locations were determined using the nodes of the vector lines in the PSMA Street Network dataset (PSMA 2018) and data was post-processed by removing indoor images. Please cite this paper if you use the dataset.</p> <p>The data is broken up into four archives, 000.zip, 090.zip, 180.zip, and 270.zip, containing the imagery from each compass heading. A csv file (contained in MelbourneStreetViewImagesData.zip) provides a mapping between the filenames, location names, direction, latitude, and longitude.</p>
