Dataset and program scripts for the reproducibility of the hierarchical data structure file. Related to the manuscript entitled: Hierarchical Representation of Measurement Data, Metrological Uncertainty and Metadata for Calibrated Battery Tests

<p>We present an interoperable hierarchical data representation for battery tests, leading to improved scalability of data transmission and enhanced data accessibility and comprehensibility for both human interpretation and machine processing. The hierarchical data format includes the raw trace electrical measurement data, the metrological calibration and uncertainty data, the metadata such as experimental settings, instruments and software versions, as well as post-processed data such as electrochemical model fit parameters. This data representation allows repetition of the battery test under the exact same conditions such that identical results are achieved within defined error bounds. This is in line with the general F.A.I.R. data approach and provides repeatability and traceability in the battery value chain. As an application of the hierarchical data representation, we show the classification of cells as pass/fail being performed with quantitative confidence levels. We demonstrate the complete workflow of establishing the hierarchical data structure for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), starting from metrological traceability of the calibration and uncertainty analysis towards the storage of the structured data as a single integrated file that preserves the hierarchical data format.</p>

<p>Here we share the relevant data of the manuscript &ldquo;Optical multiplexing of metrological time and frequency signals in a single 100 GHz-grid optical channel&rdquo;.</p> <p>Files:</p> <ul> <li>Opt_Fr_stability_part1.txt</li> <li>Opt_Fr_stability_part2.txt</li> </ul> <p>contain the data used for evaluation of optical frequency transfer stability (Fig. 7 in the paper). The measurements were done with 8-channels K+K phase/frequency recorder. Column 1 contains date, col. 2: time, col. 5: in-loop beatnote phase, col. 6: out-of-loop beatnote phase. The phase is recorded in cycles. In case of out-of-loop beatnote it was divided by factor of two before recording, therefore the data from col. 6 should be multiplied by two to obtain true values of the optical phase fluctuations.</p> <p>File:</p> <ul> <li>RF_stability.txt</li> </ul> <p>contains the data used for evaluation of RF frequency transfer stability (Fig. 8 in the paper). Column 1 contains time in hours, and col. 2 RF phase fluctuations in seconds.</p>

EC 5th Framework ENPOWER austenitic edge welded beam contour cut metrology for assessing residual stress

<p>Data from contour method cut surfaces collected from an autogenously edge-welded AISI 316H stainless steel beam produced as part of ENPOWER. Surfaces were generated as part of a slitting experiment and then subsequently measured with a coordinate measurement machine. This dataset forms the basis for <a href="https://doi.org/10.1115/1.4004626">&quot;<em>Slitting and Contour Method Residual Stress Measurements in an Edge Welded Beam</em>&quot; Hosseinzadeh et al. (2012)</a>, and further information on the specimen background and diffraction based results can be found in <a href="https://doi.org/10.1115/PVP2008-61339">&quot;<em>A statistical framework for analysing weld residual stresses for structural integrity assessment</em>&quot; Nadri et al. (2008)</a>.</p> <p>Datasets are in the form of lists of x,y.z coordinates, with one point per line, whitespace delimited in millimeters. The *Perimeter1.txt file coincides with *Surface1.txt, with the former an outline identifying the cut surface periphery, and the latter points lying on the surface. The same format is employed for the other side of the cut.</p>

Dataset for an application example of a unified theory for 3D Gear and Thread Metrology

<p>The evaluation of this dataset is presented in Stein et al. (2021) as an example for the advantages of the suggested novel approach. We propose a unified theory for the metrological treatment of helical machine elements such as cylindrical and conical gears, worms, and screw threads. The main idea is to introduce a universal 3D geometry model for threaded components that provides for distinct parameterization using a unique set of geometry parameters and that offers and a functional description of the transverse profile. Using modern 3D coordinate measuring technology, a holistic evaluation algorithm yields the actual geometry as the result of a high dimensional best-fit procedure and form deviations as corresponding residuals. All determinants and evaluation parameters can then be calculated from the set of actual geometry parameters. By applying certain constraints to the model to be fitted, the novel method can be reduced to the established 2D methods and hence meets demands for the comparison of the two procedures. The results of the novel approach have proven to be very stable and they enable the evaluation of areal measurements with no loss of information.</p>

Improving metrology with quantum scrambling

<p>Quantum scrambling describes the spreading of information into many degrees of freedom in quantum systems, such that the information is no longer accessible locally, but becomes distributed throughout the system. This idea can explain how quantum systems become classical and acquire a finite temperature, or how in black holes the information about the matter falling in is seemingly erased. We probe the exponential scrambling of a multi-particle system near a bistable point in phase space and utilize it for entanglement-enhanced metrology. A time-reversal protocol is used to observe a simultaneous exponential growth of both the metrological gain and the out-of-time-order correlator, thereby experimentally verifying the relation between quantum metrology and quantum information scrambling. Our results show that rapid scrambling dynamics capable of exponentially fast entanglement generation are useful for practical metrology, resulting in 6.8(4) dB gain beyond the Standard Quantum Limit.</p>

SmartCom XML Scheme Definition (XSD) for a Machine-readable Communication of Fundamental Constants in Metrology

<p>The XSD defines a data structure for an unambiguous, easy-to-use, safe and uniform exchange of fundamental physical constants and mathematical constants in a machine-readable data format. The data elements for constants are defined in the Digital System of Units (D-SI) metadata model from the EMPIR project 17IND02 SmartCom. The development of the data structure was based on an own analysis of minimum requirement for transfering the data of fundamental physical constants &quot;as are&quot; provided by CODATA into a machine-readable form. Furthermore, the considerations for the transformation comprise traceability to the original CODATA values.</p> <p>The availability of machine-readable data of fundamental physical constants that can easy be accessed by software and that are traceable to a international accepted definition is essential for various areas of metrology where the International System of Units (SI) is of key-importance.</p>

Ontology of time metrology vocabulary

<p>The advent of the digital era has put forward an urgent need for the digitization of metrology, and the digitization of metrology vocabularies is one of the fundamental and critical steps to achieve the digital transformation of metrology. Metrology vocabulary ontology can facilitate the exchange and sharing of data, which is an important way to achieve the digitization of metrology vocabulary. Time metrology vocabulary is a special and important part of the whole metrology vocabulary, and constructing its ontology can reduce the problems caused by semantic confusion, help the smooth progress of metrological work, and promote the digital transformation of metrology. Currently, the existing ontology for metrology vocabulary is primarily the MetrOnto ontology, but it lacks a systematic description of the vocabulary of time metrology. Based on Web Ontology Language (OWL), a bilingual time metrology vocabulary ontology OTMV is designed and constructed using a seven-step ontology development methodology.OTMV provides a standardized, interoperable, and unified architecture, which realizes the bilingual digital representation of time metrology vocabulary in the national standards of China, metrological technical specifications JJF1180-2007 "Glossary and Definition of Time and Frequency Metrology", JJG 2007-2015 "Time and Frequency Measuring Instruments", and relevant materials published by the China National Institute of Metrology.</p>
