Sculpture of an Minerva head from the site of Tarraco (Tarragona, Spain), dated in the 2nd century AD. Marble statue dedicated to the goddess of wisdom and the arts and the patron of artisans. Bust of Minerva
80 - 86 A.D F1998.1127 This delicate cast bronze bust is one of several exciting finds found at Cardean, the site of a Roman fort in Angus. Excavations had taken place over seven years from 1968. Archaeologists found that the fort was composed of turf surrounded by four defensive ditches. Minerva was the Roman goddess of many subjects including warriors, poetry, wisdom, medicine and music. The Romans celebrated her worship from March 19th to 23rd during the *Quinquatras*, or artisan's holiday. Front scan of the object only. <p>These folders contains all the data and trained models (including a detailed README), needed to replicate the results from the following publication:</p> <blockquote> <p>Matthia Sabatelli, Nikolay Banar, Marie Cocriamont, Eva Coudyzer, Karine Lasaracina, Walter Daelemans, Pierre Geurts & Mike Kestemont, "Advances in Digital Music Iconography. Benchmarking the detection of musical instruments in unrestricted, non-photorealistic images from the artistic domain". Digital Humanities Quarterly (2020).</p> </blockquote> <p>In this paper, we present MINERVA, the first benchmark dataset for the detection of musical instruments in non-photorealistic, unrestricted image collections from the realm of the visual arts. This effort is situated against the scholarly background of music iconography, an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of musicology and art history. We benchmark a number of state-of-the-art systems for image classification and object detection. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of the task but also highlight the significant challenges which this artistic material poses to computer vision. Recently, a new hemodynamic algorithm intended to predict hypotensive events (hypotension probability indicator [HPI]) has been developed. The aim of the present study is to test the discrimination and calibration properties of the HPI.</p> <p><strong>Methods: </strong> The intraoperative files of 23 patients undergoing cardiac and major vascular surgery receiving the HPI-based hemodynamic monitoring were retrospectively investigated for prediction of hypotensive events (mean arterial pressure <65 mmHg). The HPI was available at 20 seconds intervals; the values of HPI five to seven minutes before a hypotensive event (HPI5-7) were tested for discrimination and calibration.</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong> The HPI5-7 has a fair level of discrimination (area under the curve 0.768) and a poor calibration, due to overestimation of the hypotensive risk. At the observed prevalence, a cut-off value of 85% carries a sensitivity of 62.4% and a specificity of 77.7%, a negative predictive value (NPV) of 97.8% and a positive predictive value (PPV) of 12.6%; a value of 98% has a PPV of 64% and an NPV of 95.3%.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions: </strong> The HPI5-7 may offer some useful insights. Values ≤85% carry a clinically acceptable NPV for hypotensive events at the observed prevalence and may represent a "safe zone" during surgery. Values >85% do not carry enough PPV to trigger hemodynamic interventions, but represent a warning signal. Values >98% are highly suggesting a hypotensive event after 5-7 minutes. Further studies exploring the predictive ability of the HPI at different times are needed.</p>
