Dataset for Multidisciplinary Uncertainty Mining - ver1

<p>This dataset contains sentences extracted from articles in various disciplines and annotated with respect to uncertainty in science. It has been produced as part of the <a href="https://project-inscim.github.io/">ANR InSciM (Modelling Uncertainty in Science) project</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p>The dataset is drawn from reputable scientific articles from a variety of disciplines. It consists of two distinct samples of sentences, each annotated using a different method. The first sample is obtained through uncertainty cue mapping, while the second sample is derived from manual annotation of randomly selected articles. To ensure comprehensive annotation, both samples were manually annotated using our multidimensional annotation framework.</p> <p>For a more comprehensive understanding of the construction of the dataset, including the selection of journals, sampling procedure, and the annotation methodology, see (Ningrum and Atanassova, 2023).</p> <p>This dataset provides valuable insights into the representation of uncertainty within scientific literature across different domains. Researchers and practitioners can utilize this dataset to study and analyze the different dimensions of uncertainty in scientific discourse.</p> <p>The dataset is presented as a CSV table where colons (&nbsp;are used as delimiters. The columns of the table are as follows&nbsp;:</p> <ul> <li>source : &#39;db&#39; or &#39;manual&#39; referring to the method used to identify and extract the sentence;</li> <li>article_id : internal id of the article from which the sentence was extracted;</li> <li>sen_id : internal unique id of the sentence;</li> <li>cue : uncertainty cue present in the sentence;</li> <li>text : sentence text;</li> <li>journal_id : short name of the journal;</li> <li>check : &#39;Y&#39; if the sentence expresses uncertainty and &#39;N&#39; otherwise;</li> <li>ref, nature, context, timeline, expression : annotations of the type of uncertainty according to the annotation framework proposed by (Ningrum and Atanassova, 2023).</li> </ul> <p>It is essential to highlight the presence of duplicate data in the dataset. These duplicates arise from the detection of multiple cues in sentences during the cue mapping procedure. While one might consider omitting these duplicates, we deliberately chose to retain them. This decision allows for a more comprehensive understanding of how the cues manifest within the sentences. Organizing the fragmented landscape of multidisciplinary product development: A mapping of approaches, processes, methods and tools from the scientific literature - Searchable cartographies

<p>This document gathers cartographies for the development of mechatronic products, cyber-physical systems and smart products. The three cartographies presented are associated with an open-access article &ndash; see the citation box below&nbsp;&ndash; and differ from the ones provided in the article in that they are searchable, which makes it easier to pinpoint references, concepts and techniques. This document comprises a legend, the cartographies and a list of associated references.&nbsp;</p> <p>To contextualize the cartographies, the integration of digital and connectivity technologies in new products can invite companies to adapt their development. Organizing the fragmented landscape of multidisciplinary product development to help companies navigate the dense scientific literature corpus is a first step in supporting them in doing so. Multidisciplinary product development can be investigated by analyzing specific types of products that deal with both software and hardware development and can be referred to as cyber-physical systems, mechatronics, and smart products and systems in the literature. To support their development, 236&nbsp;&ldquo;concepts and techniques&rdquo; (an expression that encompasses approaches, processes, methods and tools) were identified from 167&nbsp;scientific papers through an extensive literature review and organized based on a four-level model paired with a decision tree. The mapping of the sorted concepts and techniques made it possible to generate graphical representations called &ldquo;cartographies.&rdquo; These cartographies represent a database of concepts and techniques for multidisciplinary product development and serve to support companies in their transformation from the product development perspective by providing them with a general overview of the related literature.</p>

<p>A TXT consisting in the keywords used for the 62 searches carried out in the Web of Science (WoS) database in order to look for academic publications related to Computational Sociolinguistics.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>A CSV and a XLSX with the same information: the corpus of unique publications (i.e., 3,454) obtained from the searches conducted in WoS using the queries from the TXT file. They include two additional columns at the end: 'Article Title_clean' and 'Abstract_clean'. They are the normalised titles and abstracts of the publications; they are ready for further analysis on the values of these columns.</p>

The HAInich: A multidisciplinary vision data-set for a better understanding of the forest ecosystem

<p>We present a multidisciplinary forest ecosystem 3D perception dataset. The dataset was collected in the Hainich-D&uuml;n region in central Germany, which includes two dedicated areas, which are part of the Biodiversity Exploratories - a long term research platform for comparative and experimental biodiversity and ecosystem research. The dataset combines several disciplines, including computer science and robotics, biology, bio-geochemistry, and forestry science. We present results for common 3D perception tasks, including classification, depth estimation, localization, and path planning. We combine the full suite of modern perception sensors, including high-resolution fisheye cameras, 3D dense LiDAR, differential GPS, and an inertial measurement unit, with ecological metadata of the area, including stand age, diameter, exact 3D position, and species. The dataset consists of three hand held measurement series taken from sensors mounted on a UAV during each of three seasons: winter, spring, and early summer. This enables new research opportunities and paves the way for testing forest environment 3D perception tasks and mission set automation. We do not focus on even more accurate and better forest data collection, our focus is automated forest inventory for robots.</p>

Natural hybrid origin of a controversial "species", Clematis pinnata (Ranunculaceae), based on multidisciplinary evidence

<p>Hybridization is common and has often been viewed as a driving force of plant diversity. However, it may raise problems in taxonomy, biodiversity estimation, and biological conservation. Although previous molecular phylogenetic studies suggested that hybridization may be rather common in <em>Clematis</em>, and artificial hybridization has been widely applied to produce new <em>Clematis</em> cultivars for nearly two centuries, the issue of natural hybridization of <em>Clematis</em> has never been addressed in detail. In this study, we tested the hybrid origin of <em>Clematis</em> <em>pinnata</em>, a rare and taxonomically controversial species distributed in northern China. Using field observations, morphological statistics, flow cytometry, niche modelling, and phylogenomic analysis, we tested the hypothesis of the possible hybrid origin of <em>C. pinnata</em>. The results show morphologically intermediacy of <em>C. pinnata</em> between the putative progenitors. Homoploidy among all the tested species is confirmed by flow cytometric analysis. Niche modelling results demonstrate that <em>C. pinnata</em> had not been adapted to a novel ecological niche independent of its putative parents. The plastome phylogeny indicates that <em>C. pinnata</em> plants in different sampling sites originated by different hybridization events. Phylonet and HyDe analyses based on transcriptome data corroborate the hybrid origins of<em> C. pinnata</em> from <em>C. brevicaudata</em>&times;<em>C. heracleifolia</em>/<em>C. tubulosa</em>. Rare introgression event between <em>C. brevicaudata</em> and <em>C. heracleifolia</em>/<em>C. tubulosa</em> was also detected in this study. These findings show that <em>C. pinnata</em> is representing F1 progeny or early generation hybrids of its parental species and evolved independently in different sites. The present study also indicates that interspecific or even intersectional hybridization is a common mechanism that the genus <em>Clematis</em> uses to generate diversity and variation, and it may play an important role in the evolution and diversification of this genus. Our study implies that morphological diversity caused by natural hybridization may overstate the real species diversity in <em>Clematis</em>.</p>

Wildlife following people: A multidisciplinary assessment of the ancient colonization of the Mediterranean Basin by a long-lived raptor

<p>Here, we used a multidisciplinary approach to a) reconstruct the process of colonization of the Mediterranean Basin by a long-lived bird of prey, the Bonelli's eagle (<em>Aquila fasciata</em>), and b) test the hypothesis that this colonization was unintentionally favored by anatomically modern humans through a release of competition by dominant species, primarily golden eagles (<em>A. chrysaetos</em>). For this, we used distribution, genetics, fossils, and ecological data. Data archived in Dryad includes all genetic information (<strong>Genetic_data.xlsx</strong>) and a portion of the ecological data (<strong>Ecological_data-provinces.xlsx</strong>, <strong>Ecological_data-nuclei.xlsx</strong>, <strong>Ecological_data-GLMs.xlsx</strong>, <strong>Ecological_data-reciprocal_occupation.xlsx</strong>), while the remaining data can be accessed from a) tables included in the manuscript and b) the original sources.</p>
