Supplementary Data for: Worldwide consequences of a mid-Holocene cold event in the Nordic Seas

SupplementaryTable1.xlsx lists all the samples used to calculate the regional reservoir correction.

SupplementaryTable2.xlsx lists all information on the individual radiocarbon dates of all the cores used in the study: LabID, Depth [cm], 14C age ± error, Calibrated age (95% confidence range and mean), and Dated species. Please note that the age-depth relationships have been modeled using a Bayesian approach so the Calibrated ages might differ from the ages that would be yielded by the calibration of individual radiocarbon ages.

SupplementaryTable3.xlsx contains all the data used in the study:

OCE2017-GR02:
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Telesiński et al. 2022)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)

MSM5-5-723:
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Werner et al. 2015)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)
- PBIP25 (Werner et al. 2015)
- Planktic foraminifera fragmentation [%] (Werner et al. 2003)

JM10-330GC:
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Consolaro et al. 2018)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)
- Planktic foraminifera [ind./g] (Consolaro et al. 2018)

MSM5-5-712:
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Werner et al. 2013)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)
- IRD flux [#/cm**2/kyr] (Werner et al. 2013, recalculated to the new age model)
- PBIP25 (Müller et al. 2012)

M23258:
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Sarnthein et al. 2003)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)
- annual SST [°C] (Martrat et al. 2003)

M17730-4
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Telesiński et al. 2015)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)
- Planktic foraminifera [ind./g] (Telesiński et al. 2015)

MD95-2011
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Risebrobakken et al. 2003)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)
- Planktic foraminifera [ind./g] (Risebrobakken et al. 2003)

MD99-2284
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- N. pachyderma [%] (Bakke et al. 2009, Eldevik et al. 2014)
- summer sSST 100m [°C] (this study)

JM09-020
- Depth [cm]
- Age [ka BP] (this study)
- annual SST [°C] (Łącka et al. 2019)

SupplementaryFigure1.pdf shows Age-depth relationships of cores used in the study as modeled using a Bayesian approach with the Bacon software (Blaauw and Christen, 2011). Simulated distrubution of herring and mackerel in the Nordic Seas in 2012, from the NORWECOM.E2E model

This dataset contains all files required to run simulations of 6 acoustic-trawl surveys based on spatio-temporal distribution of mackerel and herring in the Nordic Seas in 2012, generated using the NORWECOM.E2E model (Skogen, M. D., & Søiland, H. (1998). A user's guide to NORVECOM V2. 0. the norwegian ecological model system.). The simulations were used in the PELFOSS project by the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research.

Included for each year of each species are two NetCDF-files; (1) one file containing the superindividuals generated by the model, and (2) one file containing interpolated area density. The NORWECOM.E2E model was run through the years 2010-2012, but only the data from 2012 are included in this dataset, in order to reduce impact of the initial state. The NORWECOM.E2E model files are located in the folder "model" with sub-folders for each species.

Also included are stratum polygons for each of the 6 surveys to be simulated based on the NORWECOM.E2E model files. The stratum polygons are saved as text files containing well-known text (WKT) multipolygons in the folder "stratum".

In two of the simulations, the catches from the fishing fleet were used to allocate effort in the strata. Included in the dataset are one file of the catches from 2012 for each species given by date, position and catch weight.

Note that the files are compressed in a zip-file (445 MB ), and will expand to 6.9 GB when unzipped.

March through August Ice Edge Positions in the Nordic Seas, 1750-2002, Version 1

This product contains ice edge coordinates for the Nordic Seas from 1750 through 2002 for months March through August. Ice edge in this product is defined as the outer boundary of ice having at least 30 percent ice concentration. Data are derived from publicly available sea ice products and use observational data from ship logbooks, diaries, and other sources in addition to more recent satellite data products from the Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) and the Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I).
