Data from the OPERAS business models survey on open access books

<p>OPERAS (the European Research Infrastructure for the development of open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities) has conducted a survey of publishing organisations throughout Europe to identify and better understand existing and potential business models to support the Open Access publication of research monographs. The results of the survey are used to inform the formulation of recommendations about how to create a sustainable open access book publishing ecosystem within Europe.</p> <p>The survey was designed to serve two core aims:&nbsp;<br> 1. To further, better or improve our understanding of the scholarly publishing landscape and of the challenges that publishers face in the context of publishing OA monographs;<br> 2. To identify main trends (including opportunities and challenges) and the knowledge of collaborative funding and infrastructure models in OA publishing in SSH.&nbsp;</p> <p>The survey was open&nbsp;between 16 February and 14 April 2021.</p> <p>The results are presented in two versions of the white paper&nbsp;of the Open Access Business Models Special Interest Group:&nbsp;&nbsp;Stone, Graham, Błaszczyńska, Marta, Lebon, Chlo&eacute;, Morka, Agata, Mosterd, Tom, Mounier, Pierre, Proudman, Vanessa, Speicher, Lara, &amp; Melin&scaron;čak Zlodi, Iva. Beijing Opera Percussion Instrument Dataset

<p>The Beijing Opera percussion instrument dataset is a collection of audio examples of individual strokes spanning the four percussion instrument classes used in Beijing Opera (Jingju, 京剧).</p> <p>Beijing Opera uses six main percussion instruments that can be grouped into four classes:&nbsp;</p> <ol> <li><strong>Bangu</strong> (Clapper-drum) consisting of Ban (the clapper, a wooden board-&shy;shaped instrument) + danpigu (a wooden drum struck by two wooden sticks)</li> <li><strong>Naobo</strong> (Cymbals) consisting of two cymbal instruments Qibo+Danao</li> <li><strong>Daluo</strong>: Large gong</li> <li><strong>Xiaoluo</strong>: Small gong</li> </ol> <p><strong>Audio content</strong></p> <p>The dataset provides audio examples for each of these instrument classes.</p> <p>The audio examples were recorded under studio conditions by Mi Tian at the <a href="http://c4dm.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/">Centre for Digital Music</a>, Queen Mary University of London, UK in September 2013 using an AKG C414 microphone. The audio was&nbsp;sampled at 44.1 kHz and stored as 16 bit wav files. The instruments were played by Ying Wan of the London Jing Kun Opera Association. Unlike some instruments that can be tuned, these percussion instruments are made from metal casting. Thus, there can be subtle timbral differences even across different instruments of the same kind. For each of these instruments, we used 2-3 individual instruments to record the samples, hoping to achieve a better timbre coverage. H2020 OPERA Project: Power Take-Off and Control Law testing in MARMOK-A-5 Wave Energy Converter at BiMEP

<p>Funded under European Union&#39;s Horizon 2020 Programme, <a href="http://opera-h2020.eu/">OPERA</a> project&rsquo;s main objective is to reduce the time to market of wave energy, by further advancing in 4 key innovations aiming to reduce up to 50% the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) projections of a floating Oscillating Water Column (OWC) technology.</p> <p>As part of project activities, a series of Power Take-Off (PTO) and Control Law (CL)&nbsp;tests were carried out using IDOM&#39;s MARMOK-A-5 wave energy converter, while this was deployed in the&nbsp;Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP)&nbsp;from October 2018 to June 2019.</p> <p>The datasets herein contain a collection of PTO&nbsp;and CL&nbsp;testing results obtained during this extensive testing campaign, providing&nbsp;quantitative evidence of the performance of both innovations.&nbsp;</p>

H2020 OPERA Project: Mooring System Experimental data from MARMOK-A-5 Wave Energy Converter at BiMEP

<p>Funded under European Union&#39;s Horizon 2020 Programme, <a href="http://opera-h2020.eu/">OPERA</a> project&rsquo;s main objective is to reduce the time to market of wave energy, by further advancing in 4 key innovations aiming to reduce up to 50% the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) projections of a floating Oscillating Water Column (OWC) technology.</p> <p>As part of project activities, a condition monitoring system was deployed during the open-sea testing campaign of IDOM&#39;s MARMOK-A-5 wave energy converter, while this was deployed in the&nbsp;Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP) from October 2016 to June 2019.</p> <p>The dataset&nbsp;herein contains a collection of experimental&nbsp;results obtained during this extensive testing campaign, The campaign covers two deployment periods, where the first testing period includes polyesther tethers and the second testing campaing includes innovative elastomeric tethers as described in more detail in the project documentation. This experimental dataset aims to provide&nbsp;quantitative comparison data of the dynamic behavior of the system under these two different configurations.</p>

Five-years of ocrelizumab in relapsing multiple sclerosis: OPERA studies open-label extension

<p><b>Objective</b></p> <p>To assess over 3 years of follow-up, the effects of maintaining or switching to ocrelizumab (OCR) therapy on clinical and MRI outcomes and safety measures in the open-label extension (OLE) phase of the pooled OPERA studies in relapsing multiple sclerosis.</p> <p><b>Methods</b></p> <p>After 2 years of double-blind, controlled treatment, patients continued OCR (600 mg infusions every 24 weeks) or switched from interferon (IFN) β-1a (44 μg 3 times weekly) to OCR when entering the OLE phase (3 years). Adjusted annualized relapse rate, time to onset of 24-week confirmed disability progression/improvement (CDP/CDI), brain MRI activity (gadolinium-enhanced and new/enlarging T2 lesions), and percentage brain volume change were analyzed.</p> <p><b>Results</b></p> <p>Of patients entering the OLE phase, 88.6% completed Year 5. The cumulative proportion with 24-week CDP was lower in patients who initiated OCR earlier, vs patients initially receiving IFN β-1a (16.1% vs 21.3% at Year 5; <i>p</i>=0.014). Patients continuing OCR maintained, and those switching from IFN β-1a to OCR attained near complete and sustained suppression of new brain MRI lesion activity from Year 3 to 5. Over the OLE phase, patients continuing OCR exhibited less whole brain volume loss from double-blind study baseline vs those switching from IFN β-1a (–1.87% vs –2.15% at Year 5; <i>p</i>&lt;0.01). Adverse events were consistent with past reports and no new safety signals emerged with prolonged treatment.</p> <p><b>Conclusion</b></p> <p>Compared with patients switching from IFN β-1a, earlier and continuous OCR treatment up to 5 years provided sustained benefit on clinical and MRI measures of disease progression.</p>

"La Danse" in Opera House of Paris

This is not the original "La Danse" of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, but a copy by Jean Juge in the façade of Opera Garnier in Paris, while the original one is in Orsay Museum since 1988. There were models of "La Danse" in Sketchfab, like jks_rnr's one (https://skfb.ly/CAOJ) - the very same model in Opera, or Geoffrey Marchal's one from Copenhagen, Denmark (https://skfb.ly/FzGu). Nevertheless, there is a pleasure to take photos myself. 65 photos of 24MPixel are taken in Sunday morning the July 26th, 2015 with my Sony A6000 and 19mm prime lens. I like to add some context, so there is pedestal and stair of the Opera.
