OpenAIRE and FAIR Data Expert Group survey about Horizon 2020 template for Data Management Plans
<p>This dataset is published in 2017 by the OpenAIRE project and the FAIR Data Expert Group.</p> <p>It contains two survey data files, two pdf-files summarising the results in a report and an infographic, and a Readme.txt file.</p> <p>The OpenAIRE project supports the open science ambitions of the European Commission. The project and in particular the Research Data Management team provide support, training and information on the Open Research Data Pilot. In this context, a survey was carried out to collect feedback on the Horizon 2020 template for Data Management Plans (DMPs). The team collaborated with the FAIR data expert group, which is providing recommendations to the European Commission on turning FAIR data into reality. One of the specific tasks of the Expert Group is contributing to an evaluation of the Horizon 2020 approach to DMPs, including future revisions of the template and the development of additional sector/ discipline-specific guidance. The aim of the survey was to collect experiences of researchers and DMP reviewers with the DMP template and guidelines on FAIR data management in Horizon 2020. The survey assesses the usefulness of the guidelines and any aspects that are confusing and unclear to determine what improvements can be made.</p> <p>Feedback was sought from both researchers and research support staff. The survey was initially scheduled to run from 22 May to 21 June 2017. Several organisations were asked to help announce the survey, including OpenAIRE’s National Open Access Desks, the FAIR data expert group, FOSTER, LIBER, and the RDA Interest Group on Active DMPs. When the first survey responses showed only a small share of researchers, more stakeholders were contacted to specifically target this community. The European Research Area was approached, whose project officers circulated the survey call among award holders of EC projects. Early-career researchers were also informed through the YEAR network and EURODOC. This resulted in an extension of the survey to 21 July 2017.</p> <p>At the close of the survey on 21 July 2017, a total number of 289 responses were reached. 50% of the respondents indicated that they were researchers, and 60% that they were (also) research support staff. OpenAIRE and the FAIR data expert group are very pleased with this balanced outcome and would like to thank all colleagues and organisations who promoted the survey, as well as everyone who took part in it.</p> <p> </p>

OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers 1.0
<p>The Guidelines specify the interoperability layer between Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) and the OpenAIRE infrastructure. The information interchange is based on the Common European Research Information Format (CERIF) data model, the CERIF XML exchange format, and the OAI-PMH protocol. The Guidelines are intended mainly for implementers and administrators of CRIS who plan to communicate research information to OpenAIRE. OpenAIRE (openaire.eu) is the European infrastructure enabling researchers to comply with the European Union requirements for Open Access to research results. OpenAIRE collects metadata from a variety of data sources: publication repositories, data archives and CRIS across Europe and beyond. Interoperability guidelines are defined for each type of source. CERIF is a standard data model for research information and a recommendation by the European Union to its Member States. The custody of CERIF has been entrusted by the European Union to euroCRIS (eurocris.org), an international not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the interoperability of CRIS.</p> <p> </p>
OpenAIRE FP7 Post-Grant Pilot - Survey of Beneficiaries
<p>The OpenAIRE FP7 Post-grant OA Pilot was launched by the European Commission (EC) for the period May 30<sup>th</sup>, 2015 to April 30<sup>th</sup>, 2017 in the context of the OpenAIRE2020 project.</p> <p>The survey of the Pilot's beneficiaries was comprised of 21 multiple choice and open text questions. It was distributed to the 547 recipients of pilot funding by email and received a total of 322 responses (59% response rate). </p> <p>The results were analysed by Research Consulting, on behalf of the OpenAIRE consortium.</p>

<p>This data set contains:</p> <p>- Full data files of a 2016 survey of attitudes to Open Peer Review in xls and csv formats<br> - Survey questions (pdf)<br> - Readme file (txt)</p> <p>Between 8 September and 7 October 2016, OpenAIRE held a survey designed to aid the development of appropriate OPR approaches by providing evidence about the attitudes of authors, editors and reviewers towards OPR, their reservations and needs, as well as to gauging current levels of experience and reservation with different types of OPR. A supplementary aim was to collect feedback on a provisional definition of OPR as created during another strand of work. The survey aimed to aid the development of appropriate OPR approaches by providing evidence about the attitudes of authors, editors and reviewers towards OPR, their reservations and needs, as well as to gauge current levels of experience and reservations with different types of OPR. The survey was conducted via an openly accessible online questionnaire (using the scientific survey platform SoSci, www.soscisurvey.de). It received a total of 3062 complete responses (a further 635 responses were discarded as incomplete). OpenAIRE ScholeXplorer Service: Scholix JSON Dump
<p>This dataset contains the GZ-compressed dump of the Scholix links (<a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6351557">schema Version 4</a>) exposed by the OpenAIRE ScholeXplorer service. It consists of 417+Mi bi-directional links (i.e. 975+Mi directed links) between literature-dataset and dataset-dataset involving 24+ Mi literature objects and 37+ Mi datasets (showing an increase of around 160Mi links wrt the previous release). Links are collected from publishers (CrossRef, EventData), data centers (DataCite and data centers), institutional/thematic repositories (OpenAIRE), life-science databases (EMBL-EBI), and inferred by OpenAIRE via text-mining around 14Mi publication's PDFs. The dataset is structured in 30 compressed files, each of at most ~10 Gb, for a total of ~328GB.</p> <p><strong>Note that the dataset matches a new version of the schema (</strong><a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6351557">schema Version 4</a>). Changes are minor, backward compatible, and regard optional fields and extensions of vocabularies. The <strong>readme.doc</strong> file includes a description of the schema changes and statistics about the dataset.</p>
