Factors influencing space-use and kill distribution of sympatric lion prides in a semi-arid savanna landscape
<p>In this study, Global Positioning System collar data and logistic regression were used to investigate space-use and kill distribution among three lion prides at Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, Zimbabwe. The R statistical platform was used to perform logistic regression analysis to determine the effects of the environmental variables on the outcome of each pride's ranging behaviour. <i>Presence/Kill probability </i>(presence or absence) was used as a response variable while<i> distance to water, shrub canopy volume</i>, <i>soil depth</i> and <i>clay content</i> were treated as fixed effects.</p>
A captain's pride
My final entry for the statues texturing challenge organized by Sketchfab and SMK on the theme of gender representation in classical sculpture. Based on "[Venus de Milo (Aphrodite of Milos))](https://skfb.ly/VOvX)" by [SMK – National Gallery of Denmark](https://sketchfab.com/smkmuseum), licensed under CC Attribution" **My interpretation** I tried to infuse this model with the theme of the sea, thinking of this statue as an old ship figurehead. Burnt and torn apart during fierce marine battles, it was then meticulously repaired by the ship's captain, who replaced the damaged parts with inclusions of aquamarine, and finalized his craft with seals of gold. I love to imagine the captain as a very masculine yet paradoxical man, a bearded giant letting his deepest emotions, hidden to its pairs, appear through his delicate work. Textured in blender by cautiously mixing PBR textures, then baked to the unmodified challenge's model. Post-processing and lighting were kept simple to emphasize the texturing work. Two-Spirit Pride Flag
Some Indigenous Americans identify as [two-spirit individuals](https://www.rd.com/list/lgbtq-flags/)—meaning they fall outside the male-female binary, and this can be used to describe a person's sexual, gender, and/or spiritual identity. Though it's not clear when it was first designed, the two feathers on the Two-Spirit Flag represent masculine and feminine identities, while the circle symbolizes the unification of masculine and feminine identities into a separate gender, and the rainbow of colors represents modern LGBTQ identities. Specifically, we used 633 human proteomics project experiments with a total of 32,546 runs and reanalyzed them using ionbot with an FDR threshold of 0.01 [16], resulting in a total of 154,885,151 peptide spectrum matches for 18,846 proteins.
