Figure 4 in Biodegradation of petroleum by bacteria isolated from fishes of Indian Ocean

Figure 4. Phylogenetic tree showing position of 4 isolated strains. The optimal tree with the sum of branch length = 0.20627849 is shown. The nucleotide sequence used for finding evolutionary relationship was ~ 950 bp. The evolutionary distances were computed using the Maximum Composite Likelihood method and are in the units of the number of base substitutions per site. This analysis involved 16 nucleotide sequences. All ambiguous positions were removed for each sequence pair (pairwise deletion option). There were a total of 844 positions in the final dataset.

Reconciling the onshore/offshore stratigraphy of the Canning Basin and implications for petroleum prospectivity supplementary material

In this paper, figures 4 and 6 were made to a smaller scaler for improved visuals; however, this resulted in the extent of some units being left out of the figure. The supplementary material here includes the full extent of figures 4 and 6 so readers can identify where each unit was mapped in this study.

Early Australian petroleum trade data, 1903-1960

Currently the main global emissions datasets (GCB, CDIAC, CEDS, etc.) do not include emissions from consumption of liquid fuels in Australia in the years before 1950 because of lacking data. As part of the Global Carbon Project's continued work to improve historical emissions estimates, this dataset presents physical quantities of petroleum commodities traded by Australia in the period 1903-1960. Given that the first commercial production of crude oil in Australia began after 1960 (source), trade data is sufficient to estimate consumption, on the assumption that stock changes were minimal. Petroleum reported as "ships' stores" are taken to be sales of international bunker fuels.

While Australia did produce some liquid fuels in this period from oil shale, this is categorised as a solid fuel, and generally secondary products of solid fuels are also categorised as solid fuels, despite being liquid. The scale of production from oil shale is unknown, but assumed to be relatively small.

Note that some commodity types present in the dataset may be assumed not to be oxidised, e.g. petroleum jelly, and therefore not contributing to CO2 emissions, and quantities of these commodities may not have been transcribed in all years. Further, for some years data for exports of domestically produced and foreign-produced commodities were transcribed separately, but for most years only the total exports were transcribed.

The original PDF files from which data have been transcribed are also included. The data file indicates, for each record, the page number from which the record was obtained, counting the first page of the file as page 1 (as opposed to using printed page numbers). This allows verification, should that be desired. These reports are the annual "Oversea Trade" reports retrieved from the website of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) here. The 12-month period of reporting in most years is the Australian financial year, July through June, but in early years it was the calendar year. The 1913 edition was the final report for a calendar year, with the subsequent report being for the period July 1914 through June 1915. The latter report indicates that the six-month period between these two reports was published, but this was not located on the ABS website.

The GCP's fossil CO2 dataset is documented here. Comparison of derived emissions with those published by CDIAC in the period 1950-1960 indicate good agreement.

Sleep duration, sleep quality, and their association with hypertension of petroleum workers

Objective

Explore Sleep duration, sleep quality, and their association with hypertension of petroleum workers.

Design

Setting and participants Multistage, random-cluster sampling design was used to select study samples, conducted a cross-sectional survey 1,500 prtroleum workers in 6 oil field bases in Karamay, Xinjiang. Unified blood pressure test by occupational physicians at the central hospital. Excluding 53 unfinished questionnaires and 27 unfinished blood pressure tests, 1420 participants were finally included as the subjects.

Outcomes

Main outcome measures were defined by dividing the referral process into three phases: (1) Ascertainment of hypertension; (2) Subjective sleep status was evaluated by the standard Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI); (3) The logistic regressions analysis were performed to evaluate the associations of sleep duration and sleep quality with hypertension.

Results

First, short sleep duration(OR=1.64, 95%CI=1.16-2.31) and poor sleep quaity(OR=3.35, 95%CI=2.40-4.67)) exerted a statistically significant effect on hypertension. Second, stratified analysis, (1) stratified by gender, Short sleep duration and poor sleep quality in female and male can increase the risk of hypertension, the OR values of female were 2.05 (95%CI:1.35-3.12) and 5.59 (95%CI:3.67-8.49), respectively. The OR values of male were 2.00 (95%CI:1.20-3.34) and 2.37 (95%CI:1.42-3.95), respectively (2) stratified by age, Among short sleepers, adults aged 30-44 years had higher adjusted odds of hypertension (OR: 2.19, 95% CI: 1.34-3.59) than older adults aged 45-65 years (OR: 2.70, 95% CI:1.60-4.54). Among poor sleepers, the risk of hypertension increasing with age, the OR values were: 3.43(95%CI: 1.52-7.74); 4.06(95%CI: 2.48-6.62); 4.35(95%CI: 2.60-7.27). (3) Stratified by shift work, we observed slightly increased relations of hypertension prevalence with the extension of shift work compared with non-shift workers, the OR (95% CI) were 2.28(1.20-4.35) and 3.86(2.08-7.15) for shift workers with short sleep duration and poor sleep quality, respectively.

Conclusion

Short sleep duration and poor sleep quality are associated with hypertension prevalence of petroleum workers.
