Duhumbi Bon: Phu-Da: traditional/indigenous/pre-Buddhist belief

<p><strong>Short description:</strong> This collection of videos, audio and photo files displays the Bon practice in the Chug valley and beyond between 2012 and 2017. Although most of the people of the Gongri valley have at least nominally converted to Buddhism, there has been a long and balanced relation between Buddhism and a religious belief system that is locally referred to as Bon.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; There are recordings from the Duhumbi, Khispi, Sartang and Tshangla speech communities. After the listing of the various supplementary files, there are short translations of the relevant parts of the additional audio files in Sartang, Khispi and Tshangla, i.e. the parts that discuss the various ways in which Bon is practiced in the respective speech communities.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Several additional topics regarding Bon can be found in the supplementary material on the at-home Jomo propitiation (<a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1134439">http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1134439</a>), the on-site Jomo propitiation (<a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1116328">http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1116328</a>), and the annual proprietary rite of the <em>yumin</em> of Thembang, in which he invokes and is taken possession of by a wide range of local deities.
