Plane wave ultrasound and OCT angiography of the eye in preeclampsia
<p>This study involves examination of ocular blood flow in human subjects in preeclampsia (PE). Both eyes were examined by plane-wave ultrasound and by optical coherence angiography (OCTA) within 72 hours of delivery. Ultrasound Doppler was used to assess flow velocity and resistance in the central retinal artery and vein, the short posterior ciliary arteries and the choroid. OCTA was used to assess vascular density in the superficial and deep retina and the choriocapillaris. Analysis included correlation with blood pressure, assessment of differences between normal and PE and correlation of ultrasound Doppler with OCTA vascular density.</p>

<p>The data represented in figures 2 to 7 of the publication "Plane-wave approach to the exact van der Waals interaction for colloid particles" are provided in the CSV file format. For each (sub)figure there is a separate file, which is named after that (sub)figure. In those files, the first column refers to the x-values and the other columns to the y-values of the curves depicted in the corresponding (sub)figure. More information can be found in the header of the files.</p> <p>The subfolder "water_zwol" contains the data corresponding to figures 4 to 7 computed with an alternative dielectric function for water as given by van Zwol <em>et al. </em>(c.f. Ref. 74 in the publication) at a slightly different temperature of 293 K.</p>

Data from: Plane wave Doppler determination of blood flow in retinopathy of prematurity
<p>Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a disorder affecting low birthweight, preterm neonates. In the preterm eye, the retina is not fully developed and neovascularization may occur at the margin between the developed vascular retina and undeveloped avascular retina. Without timely treatment by laser or intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy, this can lead to tractional retinal detachment and blindness. Visualization of the retina in regular examinations by indirect ophthalmoscopy is hence the current standard of care, but the exams are stressful and interpretation of images is subjective.</p> <p>The upregulation of VEGF in ROP would suggest an increase in ocular blood flow. In this report, we evaluate the potential of ultrafast plane-wave Doppler ultrasound (PWU) to detect increased flow velocities in the orbital vessels supplying the eye in a gentle exam with objective findings.</p> <p>We imaged both eyes of 50 low-birthweight preterm neonates using 18 MHz PWU. Flow velocity in the central retinal artery (CRA) and vein (CRV), and the short posterior ciliary arteries were determined and values at each ROP Stage compared.</p> <p>We found significantly increased velocities in the CRA and CRV in Stage 3 ROP eyes, where intervention would be considered. We compared multivariate models for identifying Stage 3 eyes comprised solely of clinical factors, solely of Doppler parameters, and clinical plus Doppler parameters. The respective models provided areas under their respective ROC curves of 0.760, 0.812, and 0.904. </p> <p>PWU Doppler represents a gentle, objective means for identifying neonates at risk for ROP that could complement ophthalmoscopy.</p>
Plane-wave propagation path data from wideband MIMO channel sounding in an urban microcellular scenario
<p>We provide plane-wave propagation path data from a wideband MIMO radio channel sounding measurement in an urban microcell scenario. The binary Matlab file includes: direction of departure (DOD: variables "par.PhiTx" and "par.ThetaTx" in [rad]), direction of arrival (DOA: "par.PhiRx" and "par.ThetaRx" in [rad]), delay ("par.Tau" to be multiplied with 8.3ns, the tab length), and complex polarimetric path gain ("par.Alpha" is a 2x2 matrix, where element [1,1]=TXtheta ->RXtheta, [1,2]=TXphi ->RXtheta, [2,1]=TXtheta->RXphi, and [2,2]=TXphi->RXphi), for the 30 strongest signal paths (from TX to RX) at each of the 4574 RX locations along the route described below. In the element names above, the term "theta" refers to the vertically polarised component, and accordingly the term "phi" referes to the horizontally polarised component.<br> Note #1: The exact RX location for each individual measured radio channel was NOT recorded (see route description below). <br> Note #2: The complex path gain (par.Alpha) is NOT calibrated, but depends on the initially fixed AGC level in the receiver, which was chosen to provide the best dynamic range for the given mobile (RX) route.<br> Both these limitations are seen reasonable since this dataset is meant for the realistic *statistical comparison* of the performance of different RX antennas in a microcell environment (and not to determine the actual received power at each exact location of the measured route).<br> Background information: The provided dataset is processed and is based on a radio channel sounder measurement at 5.3 GHz, carried out in downtown Helsinki, Finland, in April 2004. The uniform rectangular transmit (TX) array was placed at 10 m height in Aleksanterinkatu-street (an approx. 15-m wide street canyon), in front of the Nordea building, broadside pointing westwards (towards Stockmann building). The semishperical receive (RX) array was moved at 1.6-m height and for about 50 m along Aleksanterinkatu-street in line-of-sight (LOS), i.e. from in front of Kluuvi shopping centre westwards just across the crossing of Kluuvikatu-street. The TX and RX arrays cover the relevant azimuth and elevation ranges, so that this plane wave propagation path data can directly be combined with the polarimetric directional radiation pattern(s) of an antenna (array).</p>

Ultrasound Plane Wave Raw Data 75 Angles - Breast Phantom and Calibration Phantom Dataset
<p><strong>Summary</strong></p> <p>This dataset is a collection of raw ultrasound plane wave data from a breast mimicking phantom and a calibration phantom. The breast phantom data contains samples of hyperechoic lesions, hypoechoic lesions and no lesions. Whereas the calibration phantom contains samples to experimentally validate resolution and contrast. This dataset was acquired to do experimental validation of physics based deep learning for image registration, about which a paper is a current work in progress.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Description</strong></p> <p><em>Sample information</em></p> <p>One the one hand this dataset contain 220 samples of in-vitro breast phantom ultrasound plane wave data (identified by CIRS073_RUMC). This data consists of three lesion types: hyperechoic lesions, hypoechoic lesions, and no lesions. On the other hand this dataset contains data from a calibration phantom (identified by CIRS040GSE). This data consists of: 5 samples of hypoechoic cysts, 5 samples from wire targets of 100 micrometer, 5 samples with -6dB and -3dB lesions in the field of view, and 5 samples with +3dB and +6dB in the field of view. All recordings were obtained twice: once in a low attenuating area 0.7 dB/cm/mHz, and once in a high attenuating area 0.95 dB/cm/mHz . The calibration phantom used is: Multi-Purpose Multi-Tissue Ultrasound Phantom Model 040GSE (CIRS, Norfolk, USA).</p> <p><em>Acquisition Information</em></p> <p>Data was acquired using a Verasonics Vantage T256 R256 system with an L12-5 50 mm linear array ultrasound transducer operating at a center frequency of 7.8 MHz. Plane wave data has been acquired consisting of 75 steering angles with an angle range of -16 degrees to +16 degrees. Verasonics scripts used for the acquisition are provided along with the data.</p> <p><em>Image Reconstruction</em></p> <p>The <a href="https://github.com/RALSchoop/DeepUS">GitHub repository</a> contains code to subsample any amount of angles from the 75 acquired angles and to do image reconstruction with the f-k migration algorithm on this dataset.
