Kh. iii. 56; Flügel, Hdss. Wien, iii. 148; and Aumer, Hdss. Münch. 53 sq.</p> <p>Written in a large plain hand, with vowel-points. A <em>Persian </em>translation is added between the lines, and prefixed (foll. 1-6) is an introduction in <em>Persian</em>, by one Aḥmad b. ‘Abd al-raḥmân, containing rules for forty days of devotion. Both were made for the use of one Shâh Hâshim, at Makkah. The introduction begins: حمد متوافر و ثناء متکاثر.</p> <p>The last two pages contain another prayer, دعاء استخارة کل یوم بعد الرکعتین. It begins: اللهم انی استخیرک</p> <p>The Arabic Text was collated subsequently by Muḥammad Ḥusain b. ‘Abdallah Multânî Makkî Ḳâdirî.</p> <p> </p>

Thirteen lines in a page.</p> <p>A fragment of a treatise on pious charms and remedies, arranged in 100 paragraphs (فائدة), and probably entitled کتاب مائة الفوائد.</p> <p>The author is not mentioned. He frequently quotes Bûnî (d. A.H. 622), the “Imâm” Aḥmad b. Mûsa عجیل, Majd al-dîn Shîrâzî (<em>i.e. </em>Fîrûzâbâdî, d. A.H. 817), and various old authorities. One of his Shaikhs was Sulaimân b. Ibrâhîm ‘Alawî. He also mentions (fol. 4) that he wrote at an earlier period a treatise with the title الطریقة الواضحة الی اسرار الفاتحة.</p> <p>This MS. is imperfect at the beginning. The first words are: تعالی ان لا یدانس اسمه, from the first فائدة, which treats of the magic powers of the Basmalah. The second فائدة (fol. 4) is inscribed: فی فضل سورة الفاتحة.</p> <p>The latter portion, from the sixty-second paragraph. Is wanting. Only the last fol. is preserved, which concludes as follows: تمت تمام شد فوائد القران.</p> <p>The last three pages contain an amulet for horses, with directions in Turkish.</p> <p>Cat. 233, v.</p> <p> </p>

Nineteen lines in a page.</p> <p>کتاب دفع العاهات فی الصلوة علی افضل المخلوقات تالیف الشیخ الامام العالم العلامة مولانا السید محمود القادری المدنی الشافعی حفظه الله آمین</p> <p>A fragment of a Book of Prayers for Muḥammad, consisting of extracts from Jazûlî’s دلائل الخیرات, with paraphrase and explanations, and a few original additions, so as to form a sort of commentary on that work. The author, Saiyid MAḤMÛD ḲÂDIRÎ, of Madînah, was still alive when this MS. was written, <em>i.e. </em>A.H. 1107 [= 1695-96 CE].<em> </em></p> <p>Beginning (fol. 1<em>v</em>.): فصل ثم ادرجْ فی قرّة عینیک بقیّة الادعیة المرغوبة و الصلوات المحمودة من الکتاب المشهور المسمّی بدلائل الخیرات</p> <p>The division of the دلائل الخیرات into quarters and thirds is also marked here. The first quarter ends on fol. 6. At the end, as additions by the author, are two prayers for Muḥammad, ascribed to Abu Bakr and ‘Alî, and after these a drawing of the three tombs in the Mosque of Madînah.</p> <p>The colophon offers a different title:</p> <p>اقول و قد تم بحمدالله و توفیقه الکتاب المسمّی بالنجاة من العاهات فی نحو کراسین ولکن بخط المؤلف حفظه الله تعالی و نفعنا بعلومه و برکاته و هذا کالشرح الاعظم عند العقلاء للاقوال و الادعیة التی اختلف [فیها]<sup>1</sup> العلماء من کتاب دلائل الخیرات و خیر الکلام ما قلّ و دلّ العبد الفقیر تاج الدین المقدسی عفی الله عنه سنة ۱۱۰۷</p> <p>Well written, with vowel-points, but injured and defective in several places. A.H. 902) القول البدیع,<sup>1</sup> are added on the back of fol. 3, by different hands.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Foll. 4-10. A fragment, containing various prayers for Muḥammad.</p> </li> </ol> <p>Some of these prayers are attributed to Muḥammad b. Abu’l- Ḥasan BAKRÎ Ṣiddiḳî (probably Abu’l-Ḥasan Muḥammad Miṣrî, d. about A.H. 950), and are described thus: صلوات کان یامر المریدَ بقراءتها بعد فریضة الصبح.</p> <p>One prayer is by ‘ABD AL- ḲÂDIR GÎLÂNÎ (fol. 6). Others are taken from the جوهرة الغوّاص و تحفة اهل الاختصاص, by MUḤAMMAD B. ‘IRÂḲ, who derived them from ‘ABD AL-‘AZÎZ MAHDAWÎ, etc.</p> <p>Of the prayers by ‘ABD AL-ḲÂDIR B. JUNAID, entitled الکبریت فی الاحمر الصلوة علی النبی الازهر, which begin on fol. 10, only the first few lines remain, the rest having been lost.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Foll. 11-19. Twenty-three lines in a page.</p> <p>A copious Commentary on a Religious Manual (اوراد) by “<em>Shihâb al-dîn.”</em> The commentator styles himself ‘ALÎ B. AḤMAD GHÛRÎ (الغوری),<sup>1</sup> of خطه کره (?), a disciple of Shaikh Rukn al-dîn, and he entitles his work کنز العباد فی شرح الاوراد . See Ḥ. Kh. v. 254, who identifies the author of the manual with the celebrated ‘<em>Omar Suhrawardî</em> (d. A.H. 632). This work is written in <em>Persian, </em>but the commentary is in Arabic. The latter was compiled from various works in both languages, on rhetoric, lexicography, grammar, and law.
