Opinions and Views of the Population of Ukraine: May 2024 (KIIS Omnibus 2024/05) – Data from a nationwide public opinion poll conducted by KIIS in May 2024
"Opinions and Views of the Population of Ukraine" is a regular omnibus survey, conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) among Ukraine's adult population and covering a wide range of topics. The data presented here is a subset of the survey conducted in May 2024 and include KIIS's own research questions. Questions included are: readiness for concessions for peace, views on Ukraine's relationship with Russia, perceptions of the war between Russia and Ukraine, views on security agreements, perceptions of Ukrainian society's unity, attitudes toward criticism of the government, attitudes toward the legalization of medical cannabis, and perceptions of Ukraine's statehood during the Soviet era. Data collection took place from May 16 to 22, 2024, with 1,067 respondents interviewed. The data is available in an SAV format (Ukrainian, English) and a converted CSV format (with a codebook). The Data Documentation (pdf file) also includes a short overview and discussion of survey results as well as the relevant parts of the original questionnaire.
Opinions and Views of the Population of Ukraine: February 2024 (KIIS Omnibus 2024/02) – Data from a nationwide public opinion poll conducted by KIIS in February 2024
"Opinions and Views of the Population of Ukraine" is a regular omnibus survey, conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) among Ukraine's adult population and covering a wide range of topics. The data presented here is a subset of the survey conducted in February 2024 and include KIIS's own research questions. The questions cover the following topics: readiness for concessions for peace; perceptions of Russia, its people, and leadership; sources of information; perceptions of the war between Russia and Ukraine; views on Western support for Ukraine; factors contributing to Ukraine's success in the war; perceptions of recent investigations into large businesses and businessmen in Ukraine; state control over online information; state policy on the Russian language in Ukraine; the level of democracy in Ukraine; opportunities for personal success; and favorite national holidays. Data collection took place from February 17 to 28, 2024. Some of the survey questions were asked to all respondents (n=2,008), while others were directed to a sub-sample of 1,052 respondents. The data is available in an SAV format (Ukrainian, English) and a converted CSV format (with a codebook). The Data Documentation (pdf file) also includes a short overview and discussion of survey results as well as the relevant parts of the original questionnaire.
Public opinion poll "War, Peace, Victory and the Future" – National face-to-face opinion poll representative of the population in government-controlled territories of Ukraine on the war-related issues (June 2023)
The face-to-face survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation in cooperation with the Centre for Political Sociology from 5 to 15 June 2023. A total of 2,001 respondents aged 18 or older took part in the survey in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Chernivtsi regions, and the city of Kyiv (in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions – only in the territories controlled by Ukraine and not affected by hostilities). The sampling technique used in the survey is multi-stage, with a random selection of localities in the first stage and a quota-based selection of respondents in the final stage. The random selection is representative of the demographic structure of the adult population in the areas covered by the survey at the beginning of 2022. The maximum sampling error shall not exceed 2.3%. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account systematic deviations in the sample caused by the forced migration of millions of citizens due to the Russian-Ukrainian war. COMPOSITION OF MACRO-REGIONS: West – Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, and Chernivtsi regions; Center – Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions, and the city of Kyiv; South – Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiiv, Kherson, and Odesa regions; East – Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions. This dataset contains the original survey data. The SPSS file (.sav) is the original file. It has been exported to an Excel file. The content of the corresponding XLSX file should be identical to the original SAV file. The SAV file contains the questions and answer options of the original questionnaire in Ukrainian. The original questionnaire and an English translation have also been included in this data collection as separate PDF files. In addition, the dataset includes a file of "selected findings", which documents some of the key findings of the survey in the form of analytical summaries and descriptive statistics. The report was prepared by the civil society organisation OPORA.

Disease and lesion maps - part of the Scientific opinion on the evaluation of public and animal health risks in case of a delayed post-mortem inspection in ungulates
<p>EFSA was requested to assess the impact on effectiveness of <em>post-mortem</em> inspection in terms of any change in the sensitivity of detection of animal diseases of domestic and wild ungulates listed according to Article 5 of Regulation (EC) No 2016/429 and septicaemia, pyaemia, toxaemia or viraemia, when carried out after up to 24 hours or up to 72 hours after slaughter in comparison to when it is carried out immediately after slaughter. In order to identify the main lesions associated with the target diseases, a so called “disease map” was built, with the information about the clinical forms of the diseases (acute, subacute, chronic, or latent forms) and clinical signs, as well as potential lesions that could be observed on the respective diseased animals.</p> <p>The following information is indicated for each disease/condition in the disease map:</p> <ol> <li>The susceptible animal species</li> <li>Whether there is any surveillance programme in place in the EU</li> <li>The signs associated with the disease that could be detected at <em>ante mortem </em>inspection;</li> <li>The lesions associated with the disease that could be detected at <em>post mortem</em> inspection</li> <li>The probability of detecting the disease during the PMI as normally carried out.</li> <li>Whether carcass swabbing and/or laboratory tests are normally carried out.</li> </ol> <p>From the disease map, the list of organs to be considered at <em>post mortem</em> inspection and the lesions, a “lesion map” was built by connecting animal species with organs, lesions and corresponding disease. This was done to facilitate the construction of a questionnaire where, for each organ and the five types of lesions, the respondents (meat inspectors) had to provide a numerical answer about how many carcasses out of 100 with the given lesion, will be still detected after 24- or 72-h of refrigerated storage.</p>
Dataset Public Opinion of UAE and Sentiment Analysis Process
<p>This article explains the UAE public opinion towards Indonesia in the era of President Jokowi's administration. In the digital era, in IR studies, it must be understood that public opinion influences a country's foreign policy, including in the economic field. The research team crawled data from Twitter (X), a data set (raw data), to find out the UAE's public opinion. The raw data was then processed using SVM machine learning to find out the UAE public's positive, negative, and neutral levels regarding Indonesia. After that, the results of public opinion were compared with the UAE's and Indonesia's economic cooperation to determine whether there was a relationship between public opinion and the level of economic cooperation between the two countries. So, the data in this study are the UAE public opinion data collection, which involved tracking and analyzing public sentiment in various UAE-based media outlets and sentiment analysis processes.</p>
Public opinion about management strategies for a low-profile Species across multiple jurisdictions: whitebark pine in the northern Rockies
<p>1. As public land managers seek to adopt and implement conservation measures aimed at reversing or slowing the negative effects of climate change, they are looking to understand public opinion regarding different management strategies.</p> <p>2. This study explores drivers of attitudes toward different management strategies (i.e., no management, protection, and restoration) for a low-profile but keystone tree species, the whitebark pine (<i>Pinus albicaulis</i>), in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Since the whitebark pine species has a range that traverses different federal land designations, we examine whether attitudes toward management strategies differ by jurisdiction (i.e., wilderness or federal lands more generally).</p> <p>3. We conducted a web and mail survey of residents from Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, with 1,617 valid responses and a response rate of 16%. <a name="_Hlk36455244"></a></p> <p>4. We find that active management strategies have substantially higher levels of support than does no management, with relatively little differentiation across protection and restoration activities or across different land designations. We also find that support for management strategies is not influenced by values (political ideology) but is influenced by beliefs (about material vs. post-material environmental orientation, global climate change, and federal spending for public lands) and some measures of experience (e.g., knowledge of threats).</p> <p>5. This study helps land managers understand that support for active management of the whitebark pine species is considerable and nonpartisan and that beliefs and experience with whitebark pine trees are important for support</p>
Data set on public opinion on differentiation as policy choice
<p>The opinion poll has been conducted with the support of a Dalia Research GmbH. The aim was to involve a representative sample of citizens from all 27 EU countries and 4 non-EU countries (UK, Norway, Turkey, Ukraine). Data has collected through device agnostic surveys with responsive design for desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone. It develops a set of eight specific questions – two horizontal and six targeted ones, two for each policy area addressed by the project (Economic governance and single market, foreign, security and defence policy, area of freedom, security and justice, including migration policy). The dataset produced on the basis of the selected questions includes demographics of respondents (age, gender, education, rural / urban status etc.).</p>

Data from: Public opinion in Japanese newspaper readers' posts under the prolonged COVID-19 infection spread 2019-2021: Contents analysis using Latent Dirichlet Allocation
<p><span>These data are based on free description from <span>readers' posts on Japanese hardcopy newspaper articles in the public domain</span>. </span><span>Upon searching for "coronavirus," we found 412 reader submissions during the April 7, 2020 to May 25, 2020, 521 during January 8, 2021 to March 21, 2021, 458 during the April 25, 2021 to June 6, 2021, and 519 during July 12, 2021 to September 30, 2021. </span><span>Topics of content were extracted by Latent Dirichlet Allocation, and then calculating the ratio of topic occurrence in each description.</span></p>
