<p>The objective of the plan4res project is to provide a well-structured and highly modular modelling framework to enable consistent insights into the different needs of future energy system. Three case studies will highlight the potentials of this framework by dealing with different aspects of a future energy systems.<br> Case study 3 will focus on cost of RES integration and impact of climate change for the European electricity system in a future world with high shares of renewable energy sources. <p>Following the Wellcome Trust, the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) makes its publication costs spent in 2013 (esp. for Open Access) publically available.</p> <p>An aggregated version of this dataset is already published in FWF's annual report 2013 (p. 86), http://www.fwf.ac.at/de/public_relations/publikationen/jahresberichte/fwf-jahresbericht-2013.pdf</p> <p>The dataset includes payments for journal articles of authors funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) via the program ‘Peer Reviewed Publications’, http://www.fwf.ac.at/en/projects/peer-reviewed_publications.html</p> <p>The dataset distinguishes between three publication cost categories:</p> <p>(1) Gold Open Access and (2) Hybrid Open Access are defined by FWF's Open Access Policy, see: http://www.fwf.ac.at/en/public_relations/oai/index.html</p> <p>(3) ‘Other publication costs’ are defined as additional costs to subscription prices charged by subscription journals (i.e. submission fees, colour charges, page charges, figure charges, table charges, supplemental charges).</p> <p>Based on this data and the data of Web of Science (WoS), we roughly estimate for 2013 a share for Gold and Hybrid OA of around 33% of all articles (incl. reviews) that result from projects supported by the FWF and which are listed in Web of Science.</p> <p>The analysis of this dataset together with the report “Developing an Effective Market for Open Access Article Processing Charges” (http://www.wellcome.ac.uk/About-us/Policy/Spotlight-issues/Open-access/Guides/WTP054773.htm) will lead to an adaption of the FWF’s Open Access policy within the next months. 5 Tips to handle Open Access Publication Costs
<p>This video (duration 1:51), produced as part of the project "Austrian Transition to Open Access 2" addresses employees at research institutions involved in processing invoices for scientific publications (especially accountants, departmental assistants, secretaries). It aims to sensitize this group to the importance of OA cost monitoring and the correct handling of OA invoices. The video also provides tips on how to detect (e.g. by means of pertinent publishing houses as creditors) and post OA invoices adequately.</p>

If an author has covered the costs by the global budget of his/her research project, by other resources or the publisher provides a Gold OA service free of charge, this information is not included in this dataset. </p> <p> </p> <p>Payments are either reimbursed to the authors or directly paid to the publishers by the FWF.</p> <p> </p> <p>The data slightly differs from FWF's annual report 2013 because this dataset does not include payments for Proceedings, Open Access Books, repayments by publishers in the case of double payments or submission fees for articles which were not published. </p> <p><strong>The dataset contains the following elements</strong><strong> </strong> </p> <p><strong>DOI/PMID</strong></p> <p>Usually the DOI-number (Digital Object Identifier) of an article is listed, and the PMID (PubMed ID) where DOI is not available.
