Deliverable D2 (D1.4) - Functional quantum device grown with FEBID

Superconductors are one of the building blocks for most nanodevices used in quantum applications. The direct local writing aspect of the Focused Electron Beam Induced Deposition (FEBID) technique allows for flexible deposition of any materials and especially metals and superconductors. As clean bulk material tungsten (W) has a superconducting transition temperature Tc = 15 mK only and a critical field Bc = 0.12 mT. Tc can be increased by introducing disorder and carbon incorporation to about 5.5 K and Bc to 9.5 T using e.g. ion- induced deposition techniques [3, 4]. Superconducting tungsten fabricated by FEBID has been so far reported only twice in the literature [1, 2]. Here we report the use of tungstenhexacarbonyl W(CO)6 molecules as a precursor for fabricating superconducting tungsten by FEBID.

EUV-Induced Hydrogen Desorption As A Step Towards Large-Scale Silicon Quantum Device Patterning

Dataset: STM, XPS and PEEM raw data, processed data and the codes used for data fitting our published work are all available here.

Abstract: Atomically precise hydrogen desorption lithography using scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) has enabled the development of single-atom, quantum-electronic devices on a laboratory scale. Scaling up this technology to mass-produce these devices requires bridging the gap between the precision of STM and the processes used in next-generation semiconductor manufacturing. Here, we demonstrate the ability to remove hydrogen from a monohydride Si(001):H surface using extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light. We quantify the desorption characteristics using various techniques, including STM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and photoemission electron microscopy (XPEEM). Our results show that desorption is induced by secondary electrons from valence band excitations, consistent with an exactly solvable non-linear differential equation and compatible with the current 13.5 nm (~92 eV) EUV standard for photolithography; the data imply useful exposure times of order minutes for the 300 W sources characteristic of EUV infrastructure. This is an important step towards the EUV patterning of silicon surfaces without traditional resists, by offering the possibility for parallel processing in the fabrication of classical and quantum devices through deterministic doping.

Data and fitting script for "Direct measurement of a sin(2φ) current phase relation in a graphene superconducting quantum interference device"

This repository contains data and Python analysis scripts used for the publication "Direct measurement of a sin(2\phi) current phase relation in a graphene superconducting quantum interference device (https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2405.13642).

The repository is organized as follows: the raw data are encapsulated in a QCoDes database (https://microsoft.github.io/Qcodes/) named 'D-SQUID-06.db'. Post-treated critical current data are included as .csv files and are indexed by measurement ids.

The principal analysis is realized in the Jupyter notebook 'Fits_and_Figures.ipynb', which includes all article figures as well as fit functions for fitting both critical currents Ic- and Ic+ simulatenously, first using analytical expression from equation 3 then using numerical expression from equation 5. All fits mentionned in the article are performed there. The repository includes a generic notebook "Extract_Critical_Current.ipynb" used to explore the raw data in the Qcodes database and features an enhanced peak detection script that we used to automatically extract critical current data despite having some artifacts on raw differential conductance versus bias current and magnetic field.

We acknowledge the contribution of R. Kerjouan for developing the Python fitting script.

Companion Dataset for Manuscript "A Roadmap for Simulating Chemical Dynamics on a Parametrically Driven Bosonic Quantum Device"

On the relation between the non-vacuous vacuum and quantum mechanics—A self-made double slits device

The movie (Time-lapse at 4X with 0.12-second interval) shows the so-called interference pattern of particles with a self-made apparatus. Small disks with nail are driven into the wooden wall in staggered order forming a hexagonal network, a two-dimensional Galton board. Next, attach double-sided adhesive tapes to the center of the board to form a two slits system, each about 2 gaps wide separated by a distance of 3 gaps and to the bottom of the board to form a collection system. Then dropping small black beads from the top one by one, we can clearly see three distribution peaks rather than two, like interference patterns, which is in good coincidence with the theoretical prediction of this scheme.
