Dataset for "The influence of the amount of recycled material on the microstructure and properties of the second generation of single-domain YBCO bulks"

The development of a recycling process for various REBCO materials is crucial considering both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency, particularly in light of the upcoming large-scale applications. In this paper, a novel general recycling process based on chemical dissolution was employed to grow REBCO bulks; recycled material obtained by recycling defective YBCO single-domain bulks was added (15 wt. %, 30 wt. % and 45 wt. %) to raw materials to prepare recycled YBCO precursor powder. Subsequently, recycled single-domain YBCO bulks were produced using Top-Seeded Melt Growth. The waste recycling related to of single-domain bulks growth was chosen, as it represents the most challenging form of waste in the context of REBCO superconductor production. The properties and microstructure of recycled bulks were further analyzed to determine the influence of the amount of recycled material used and compared to commercially produced bulks. Single-domain YBCO bulks were grown successfully from the recycled precursor powder. Furthermore, it was found that their properties could be tuned by varying the amount of the added recycled powder, allowing the use of vast amounts of REBCO waste for the preparation of bulks, when achieving the best possible properties is not essential for a given application. Given that the underlying recycling process is designed to work for all REBCO systems and any form of waste, it has significant implications for the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of REBCO superconductor production.

Selected properties and microstructure of concrete with tire rubber granulate as recycled material in construction industry

The paper explores the use of recycled materials in the construction industry to promote sustainable development. There is a growing demand for recycling and innovative materials in engineering. The study specifically investigates the potential of tire rubber recyclate as a recycled raw material, comparing two different mixtures in an experimental program. These mixtures highlight the importance of utilizing local resources, aligning with the principles of the circular economy. The experimental program focuses on evaluation of mechanical properties in addition to specialized tests. Findings indicate that higher proportions of rubber granulate not only impact mechanical properties but also significantly affect durability when exposed to environmental factors.

Dataset of "Affordable metod for synthesis of composite nanoobjects from recycled materials by hot plasma arc from basic plasma cutter "

Metal remnants from battery waste can be utilized in some advanced composite materials together with other materials like cerium dioxide nanoparticles which repeatedly show interesting application potential in the field of decomposition of environmental pollutants. It is important to avoid uncontrolled leakage of the nanoparticles into the environment. Therefore immobilization in composite is important. In this contribution, ceria nanoparticles were aggregated and immobilized with the addition of nanoparticles, metal sheets, and the usage of a plasma beam. The obtained material was characterized in detail using optical microscopy, XRD, SEM, and EDS. The composite was also compared to the non-treated ceria nanoparticles. The absorption of pollutant samples was performed in aqueous solutions of Eriochrome Black T. The results show promising potential considering the morphology change and aggregate formation, together with fast reaction times.

Dataset of "Influence of the used solvent on the efficiency of the extraction of cathode materials for direct recycling"

Lithium-ion batteries are playing an increasingly significant role in modern mobility and energy storage. Their increasing quantity and the limited amount of material resources available on earth will place great demands on the most efficient recycling in the future. In this paper, we focused on the first stage of the so-called direct recycling, i.e. the extraction of electrode material from the current collector, using six types of solvents in combination with three types of the most commonly used cathode materials in lithium-ion batteries. Three selected lithium-ion batteries were aged for 500 cycles and disassembled for the next step - cathode material extraction. The extraction was carried out by a method that is least energy intensive, cost effective and preserves the structural stability of the cathode materials after extraction. Of the used solvents, Dimethylacetamide (DMAC) was found to be the most effective solvent for the extraction. At the same time, Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) was the most effective solvent in terms of solvents considered to be biologically harmless. The study also included an analysis of the degradation of the cathode materials after their extraction from the current collector. It was found that all materials remained stable even one month after the extraction.

Investigations on recycled aggregate material behavior and its effect on concrete strength

The fundamental behavior of the concrete materials has significant effects on its performance characteristics and, hence it can bring influences on the strength of the materials. This paper investigates the essential behavior of recycled aggregate materials recycled concrete aggregate materials that are manufactured from C&D wastes. It also evaluates its impact on the performance of concrete material, which is made from recycled aggregate as a substitute for conventional aggregate materials. Hence, the volume of C&D debris generated annually has been growing increasingly in most localities; there should be improvements in recycling and utilization of these materials. The recycled aggregate materials manufactured from C&D debris were then used as a substitute for conventional aggregate materials at a rate range from 0% to 100%. Recycled aggregates from C&D wastes measuring 10 – 40 mm collected from recycling plants for mixing purposes. Different concrete grades are used to evaluate the suitability of the material for utilizing it in various civil engineering and construction projects. The paper examined the fundamental properties of concrete for the M30 design mix that ranges up to 100% substitution of recycled aggregate material and conventional aggregate material. The overall material properties have been tested. The concrete materials that are produced from recycled aggregate as a substitution were used for various tests that check the performance of the materials. As a result, it shows that a noteworthy enhancement of strength detected in the concrete sample cubes that contained recycled concrete aggregates rather than mixed C&D waste recycled aggregates (RA).
