Descriptions of SNSF-funded research projects
<p>This repository contains the data to replicate the analyses performed in Meier, D. S., Mata, R., & Wulff, D. U. (2021). text2sdg: An R package to Monitor Sustainable Development Goals from Text. <em>arXiv preprint arXiv:2110.05856</em>.</p> <p>The <a href="../api/records/11060662/draft/files/GrantWithAbstracts.csv/content" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GrantWithAbstracts.csv</a> data is originally provided by the Swiss National Science Foundation and can also be downloaded from their <a href="https://data.snf.ch/datasets">website</a>. This data contains information on research projects funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation between 1975 and 2022. Among other things, the data provides information on what the funded projects were about and how much funding was provided.</p> <p>The <a href="../api/records/11060662/draft/files/backtrans_table.RDS/content" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">backtrans_table.RDS</a> data contains 1,500 randomly selected projects from the <a href="../api/records/11060662/draft/files/GrantWithAbstracts.csv/content" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GrantWithAbstracts.csv</a> data that were translated from English to German and then from German back to English.</p> <p>The <a href="../api/records/11060662/draft/files/benchmark_table_revision.rds/content" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">benchmark_table_revision.rds</a> data contains runtimes from benchmarking the text2sdg R package. </p>

<p>This is the dataset underlying the report "Monitoring open access publishing of NWO funded research" (<a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7041897">https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7041897</a>)</p> <p>The report presents statistics on the extent to which publications from the period 2015–2021 funded by NWO are available in Open Access. The analyses presented in this report also cover publications funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development ZonMw. This report builds on two earlier reports, published in <a href="https://zenodo.org/record/4446042">2020</a> and <a href="https://zenodo.org/record/5056043">2021</a>, covering publications from the period 2015–2018 and 2015-2020, respectively.</p>

Funding programmes for interdisciplinary research
<p>Data set with 127 funding programmes for interdisciplinary research. Table summary (excel) and documents (pdfs).<br> <br> This data set covers funding opportunities to support interdisciplinarity (and other forms of crossdisciplinary research) in Europe and North America. The data has been collected in two rounds. The first round was between November 2018 and February 2019, and the second January–February 2022. Data set covers funding opportunities from both public and private sources, and all scholarly disciplines in both STEM and SSH. The database covered all Pan-European funding and national data sets from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, Sweden and the United Kingdom.</p> <p>I collected the guidelines for applicants from each of the funding programmes selected. These were usually in PDF format, and are included in this file. I used the data set to analyse the role of social sciences and humanities in interdisciplinary research. This study will be published in Social Epistemology. Quantitative research - green organizations and green competencies - Miniatura 5 funded by the National Science Centre in Poland 2021/05/X/HS4/00974
<p>The questionnaire consisted of a general section meant to identify the type of the company, the region of its activity and the average number of employees together with with details of the respondent’s job position. The purpose of the second part of the questionnaire was to define the variables that make it possible to describe the company. These included the following ten: 1) sustainable<br> manufacturing; 2) green human resource management; 3) knowledge and awareness of ecology and sustainability; 4) environmental management; 5) green marketing; 6) environmentally friendly product design; 7) green supply chains; 8) closed-loop waste management; 9) zero waste buildings; 10) minimising the use of resources, including energy. Subsequently, based on the literature devoted to green competences, the questions were divided into four categories: knowledge, skills, attitudes and performance-related managerial skills. A total of 80 concepts were defined that were then assigned to separate categories and evaluated by respondents.<br> 100 manufacturing companies were surveyed (quantitative research). </p> <p>The research was funded by the National Science Centre in Poland 2021/05/X/HS4/00974</p>
Research and Innovation Funding Cycle
<p>This figure broadly sketches the cycle of research and innovation funding from the perspective of funding agencies (RFOs). Depending on the specific workflows and regulatory framework within which an RFO operates, some steps may have greater weight or overlap with others. For instance, strategy development and program development might go hand in hand, while a program evaluation might inform the development of a new program without the development of a new strategy. </p> <p>As an output developed in the context of the H2020 project PRO-Ethics, the graph showcases where within an R&I funding cycle participatory engagement may be undertaken. </p>
Research Funding in the Middle East and North Africa: Analyses of Acknowledgments in Scientific Publications (unified funders)
<p>This dataset is the result of the unification of funder names acknowledged in scientific publications indexed in the Web of Science with at least one author affiliated to an institution located in the Middle East and North Africa.</p> <p>This list contains 1,039 unified names of funders from the 22 MENA countries as of 16 March 2023 along with their type and country.</p>

Dataset: The availability and completeness of open funder metadata - Case study for publications funded by the Dutch Research Council
<p>Data and code belonging to the manuscript: <strong>The availability and completeness of open funder metadata - Case study for publications funded by the Dutch Research Council </strong></p> <p><strong>Abstract:</strong><br> Research funders spend considerable efforts collecting information on outcomes of the research they fund. To help funders track publication output associated with their funding, Crossref initiated FundRef in 2013, enabling publishers to register funding information using persistent identifiers. However, it is hard to assess the coverage of funder metadata because it is unknown how many articles are the result of funded research and therefore should include funder metadata. </p> <p>In this paper we looked at 5,004 publications reported by researchers to be the result of funding by a specific funding agency: the Dutch Research Council NWO. Only 67% of these articles contain funding information in Crossref, with a subset acknowledging NWO as funder name and/or Funder IDs linked to NWO (53% and 45%, respectively). </p> <p>Web of Science (WoS), Scopus and Dimensions are all able to infer additional funding information from funding statements in the full text of the articles. Funding information in Lens largely corresponds to that in Crossref, with some additional funding information likely taken from PubMed. </p> <p>We observe interesting differences between publishers in the coverage and completeness of funding metadata in Crossref compared to proprietary databases, highlighting potential to increase the quality of open metadata on funding. </p> <p><strong>This dataset contains the following files:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>DOIs_unique_CR_Lens_Wos_Scopus_Dim.csv</strong><em> - </em>Dataset of unique DOIs (n= 5,004) with collected information from Crossref and presence/absence of funder information in Lens, Web of Science, Scopus and Dimensions </li> <li><strong>NWO_funder_names_Crossref.txt</strong><em> </em>- List of funder name variants for NWO found in Crossref</li> <li><strong>Google_Apps_Script.js</strong> - Google Apps Script for retrieving information from Crossref and processing Dimensions results </li> <li><strong>DOI_cleaning.R</strong><em> - </em>R script for cleaning DOIs</li> </ul>

<p><b>Abstract</b></p><p class="dhik-abstract-content">Horizon Europe (HE) is the 9th European Research & Innovation Program (2021-2027). In the organization Euresearch is mandated by the Swiss Government to inform and advise researchers and innovators on how to apply for funding through HE. Dataset on grant fund mismanagement and funding the researcher
<p>This dataset was collected in December 2017. Participants (N=53) were graduate students in psychology. Questionnaire was self-report. The survey asked questions about grant and publishing experience, pressures associated with grants or publications, and demographics (e.g. age, gender, family income, year in graduate school, etc.). Participants were asked whether they preferred a funding the researcher or funding the project design. There was also an experimental component, whereby participants were randomly assigned to the experimental or control condition. In the experimental condition, they read a false APA ethics code concerning grant fund management. Participants then read through 7 ethically gray scenarios regarding grant management, and indicated if they would act similarly.</p>
Research funding for male reproductive health and infertility in the UK and USA [2016 – 2019]
<p>There is a paucity of data on research funding levels for male reproductive health (MRH). We investigated the research funding for MRH and infertility by examining publicly accessible webdatabases from the UK and USA government funding agencies. Information on the funding was collected from the UKRI-GTR, the NIHR's Open Data Summary, and the USA's NIH RePORT webdatabases. Funded projects between January 2016 and December 2019 were recorded and funding support was divided into three research categories: (i) male-based; (ii) female-based; and (iii) not-specified. Between January 2016 and December 2019, UK agencies awarded a total of £11,767,190 to 18 projects for male-based research and £29,850,945 to 40 projects for female-based research. There was no statistically significant difference in the median funding grant awarded within the male-based and female-based categories (p=0.56, W=392). The USA NIH funded 76 projects totalling $59,257,746 for male-based research and 99 projects totalling $83,272,898 for female-based research Again, there was no statistically significant difference in the median funding grant awarded between the two research categories (p=0.83, W=3834). This is the first study examining funding granted by main government research agencies from the UK and USA for MRH. These results should stimulate further discussion of the challenges of tackling male infertility and reproductive health disorders and formulating appropriate investment strategies.</p>
