Species names are followed by GenBank accession numbers (preceded by voucher number for sequences produced in the context of this study). Country of origin is given for Hydroporus gyllenhalii sequences. The two sequences without species names are from Ribera & Vogler (2004) and were produced from two unidentified North American Hydroporus specimens. Numbers associated with the branches are bootstrap values calculated with Maximum Likelihood (first value) and with Maximum Parsimony (second value). A dash indicates bootstrap value lower than 50%. All branches are proportional to inferred number of substitutions per site (scale bars) except for the branch in purple in the 16S tree, which has a null length in the ML analysis despite significant bootstrap support.
