The effects of visual distractors on serial dependence
<p>Datasets and analysis script for two experiments on behavioral serial dependence, using discrimination & orientation adjustment tasks.<br> The datasets are used and described in:<br> Title: "The effects of visual distractors on serial dependence"<br> Authors: Christian Houborg, David Pascucci, Ömer Daglar Tanrikulu & Árni Kristjánsson<br> Year: 2023<br> Journal: Journal of Vision<br> The link and DOI to the related paper will be available soon.</p>
Data for: Serial dependence: a matter of memory load
<p>The dataset of each experiment is stored in csv format for each experiment separately. Tables are stored in long format, with rows coding the event in each trial, and columns coding variables.<br>The subject identifier (number) is coded by the variable <strong>obs</strong>. <strong>theta</strong> is orientation of the presented gabor, <strong>error </strong>is calculated as the acute angle between the reported and true orientations, expressed in degrees. <strong>nitems</strong>: (1) load trial, (0) no load trial.<br>The meaning of the other variables should be self-explanatory by the column headers name.<br>Additional information on each variable is described in the method section.</p>
Serial Dependence improves performance and biases confidence-based decisions
<p>We uploaded all the sessions in one file for each participant.<br> Each file contains a single matrix called “RESP1”.<br> The columns contain the following information:</p> <ul> <li>1st: Orientation of top stimulus.</li> <li>2nd: Orientation of bottom stimulus.</li> <li>3rd: 1 whether current top orientation was equal of previous top orientation; 2 whether current bottom orientation was equal of previous bottom orientation.</li> <li>4th: 0 whether top orientation was as right orientation. 1 whether top orientation was as left orientation.</li> <li>5th: orientation of left stimulus.</li> <li>6th: Stimulus chosen to judge (1 top; 2 bottom).</li> <li>7th: 1 whether chosen stimulus had same orientation of previous in the same position, otherwise 0.</li> <li>8th: Orientation response (1 left; 2 right).</li> <li>9th: 1 response correct, 0 response wrong.</li> <li>10th: Timestamp of start presentation of the stimulus.</li> <li>11th: Timestamp of end presentation of the stimulus.</li> <li>12th: Timestamp of chosen stimulus.</li> <li>13th: Timestamp of orientation judgment.</li> <li>14th: 1 whether variable stimulus was up or down (2).</li> <li>15th: Noise level of top stimulus.</li> <li>16th: Noise level of bottom stimulus.</li> <li>17th: 1 whether participant chosen the variable stimulus, otherwise 0.</li> <li>18th: 1 whether variable stimulus was a continuous stimulus, otherwise 0.</li> </ul>
