Swiss public's acceptance and sustainability perceptions of food produced with chemical, digital and mechanical weed control measures and the influence of information source on technology perception in agriculture

This data was obtained from an online survey conducted with the Swiss public from the two biggest language regions (German and French) in Switzerland. The survey was conducted in February 2023. Participants were recruited through a professional panel provider and quotas were used for age, gender and language region. The final sample contained 542 respondents. In the first part of the survey, respondents provided basic sociodemographic information. In the second part, their sustainability perceptions regarding four different weed management practices (full-surface spraying, hoeing machine, spot spraying and precise spraying) were investigated. Respondents were then assigned to one of five information source groups, in which information on a hoeing and a milking robot was presented, using 5 different information sources (male/female farmer, male/female scientist, no source). Technology perception was assessed using several questions and aspects. Finally, respondents answered several questions assessing their attitudes towards the perception of farmers, food technology neophobia, chemophobia and the importance of naturalness. The survey can be used and adapted to different contents, aiming to investigate public perception of smart farming technologies and the influence of information sources on technology perception.

BRAIN Journal-The Presence and Activity on Facebook of the Informative Travel Organizations in Romania-Figure 2. Online presence through a website of Romanian tourism entities with informative role Source: authors

According to research results (Figure 2), almost 68% of the entities with tourist information and promotion role own a proper site for the presentation of the work, while 18.35%, most probably do not realize in pragmatic terms the usefulness of such promotional tools. The situation can be cataloged as quite worrying, especially if we consider that today, due to the fulminant development of smartphones, more and more tourists choose to seek information on the Internet, even during their trip to a new destination (Wang el. al. 2012).

Replication data for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury: identifying information sources and risk factor awareness among the general population

Creating awareness about a disorder is important for prevention from the perspective of public health. However, for sports injuries, like the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, there is no study which has investigated the awareness of risk factors for the injury and prevention methods among the general population, to the best of our knowledge. The sources of information among the population are also unclear. The purpose of present study was to identify these aspects of public awareness about the ACL injury.

A questionnaire was randomly distributed among the general population registered with a web based questionnaire supplier, to recruit 900 participants who were aware about the ACL injury. The questionnaire consisted of two parts: Question 1 asked them about their sources of information regarding the ACL injury; Question 2 asked them about the risk factors for ACL injury. Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine the information sources that provide a good understanding of the risk factors.

The leading source of information for ACL injury was television (57.0%). However, the results of logistic regression analysis revealed that television was not an effective medium to create awareness about the risk factors, among the general population. Instead “Lecture by a coach”, “Classroom session on Health”, and “Newspaper” were significantly effective in creating a good awareness of the risk factors (p < 0.001).
