Dataset used for validation of the Danish 20-item Spiritual Needs Questionnaire.

This material comprises the datasets to support the validation works of the Danish 20-item Spiritual Needs Questionnaire (DA-SpNQ-20). There is data on the questionnaire instruments: Spiritual Needs Questionnaire (danish translation of questionnaire will be published in Zenodo later) and the World Health Organization Well Being Index (WHO-5). All data has been fully anonymized and thus stripped of age, gender and religious/spiritual denominations. The sample is a convenience sample of (healthy) adult Danes with a large body of university students in the sample. Mean age of sample is 43,9 (sd: 16,3) and 73% were women.

Information on the SpNQ is available at www.spiritualneeds.net

Files included:

(1) dataset of the full sample.

(2) dataset of a randomly selected half (sample A) that was used for the exploratory factor analysis.

(3) dataset of a randomly selected half (sample B) that was used for the confirmatory factor analysis.

Data on the Model of Loneliness and Smartphone Use Intensity as a Mediator of Self-Control, Emotion Regulation, and Spiritual Meaningfulness in Nomophobia

The data collection was conducted in June-July 2022, with 355 participants completing the scales provided through offline paper-pencil surveys in the classroom. The research data was collected from three cities, namely Palembang, Jambi, and Yogyakarta, and consisted of junior high school and high school students, as well as university students. The university student participants were recruited from Ahmad Dahlan University, Jambi University, and Charitas Musi Catholic University. The participants completed the Nomophobia NMP-Q scale (Yildirim & Correia, 2015), the R-UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russell et al., 1980), self-control (Tangney, Baumeister & Boone, 2004), The Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS; Gratz & Roemer, 2004), and Spiritual Meaningfulness which was developed based on the theory of Pargament (2007). All the questionnaires for data collection were in the Indonesian version.

The Impact of Nomophobia: Exploring the Interplay between Loneliness, Smartphone Usage, Self-Control, Emotion Regulation, and Spiritual Meaningfulness in an Indonesian Context

Previous research on nomophobia has been conducted mainly through an exploratory approach. Few studies have tested the theoretical model of nomophobia through a confirmatory analysis approach. Thus, this research contributes to filling the existing gap by testing a theoretical model of nomophobia.

This cross-sectional study was conducted in Yogyakarta, Palembang, and Jambi, Indonesia. We used purposive sampling to recruit 689 students from various levels in those three cities to participate in this study. Specifically, the participants consisted of junior high school students (n= 245, 35.5%), high school students (n= 235, 34.2%), and students (n= 209, 30.3%). Among them, 380 (55.2%) were women, and 309 (44.8%) were men.

Our findings revealed that emotional regulation, spiritual meaningfulness, and self-control had significant indirect effects on nomophobia. Furthermore, the intensity of smartphone use is an important mediator in this fit model.

SEM analyses of self-control, emotion regulation, and spiritual meaningfulness about loneliness and smartphone use as mediators of nomophobia have not been performed, particularly in the context of Indonesia. Previous studies have primarily treated loneliness and smartphone use as independent variables directly linked to nomophobia. Therefore, this research aims to fill this knowledge gap by investigating the mediated model of nomophobia, contributing valuable insights to the field.
