Dataset of "Hybrid modeling on 3D hydraulic features of a step-pool unit"

In this repository you can find the data for the submission "Hybrid modeling on 3D hydraulic features of a step-pool unit" by Zhang et al. to Earth Surface Dynamics.

The topographic models of the step-pool unit made of natural stones after FAVORization in FLOW3D for the six flow rates are kept in .stl files which were named after the flow rates (L/s). The mesh size for the step-pool feature is 2.5 mm for X, Y and Z directions. The locations, water level and flow velocity for the inlet boundary in all the numerical models are presented in the excel file.

Dataset: Bed Stability of Step-Pool Channels with Macrorough Sidewalls

The data set includes the cumulative sediment outflow data and the digital elevation model (DEM) data of flume experiments conducted at the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology, and Glaciology (VAW) at ETH Zurich.

Calculation template for the unit-scale framework for designing step-pool sequences

This is the calculation template for the manuscript titled "A unit-scale framework for designing step-pool sequences" by Chendi Zhang, Marwan A. Hassan, Matteo Saletti, André E. Zimmermann, Mengzhen Xu and Zhaoyin Wang. The design method described in the manuscript is specifically for river restoration using artificial step-pool sequence (Zhang et al., 2018, 2020; Zimmermann et al., 2020). Version 1.0 of the calculation template was applied to a total of 21 artificial step-pools built in the Maso di Spinelle River in Italy (Lenzi 2002; Lenzi and Comiti 2003; Comiti et al. 2009). A natural step-pool sequence including 20 units in the Erlenback in Switzerland (Golly et al., 2019) was used in the Version 2.0 of the template. The instructions are included in the file. With changes in the inputs, this template can also be used for other cases where design for artificial step-pools is needed. The flow competence estimation method (Richardson and Carling, 2021) has been incorporated in the Version 2.1.

On how episodic sediment supply influences the evolution of channel morphology, bedload transport and channel stability in an experimental step-pool channel

This repository contains experimental data used in the manuscript "On how episodic sediment supply influences the evolution of channel morphology, bedload transport and channel stability in an experimental step-pool channel" submitted to Water Resources Research by Wang et al.

- The docx file contains the information of experimental sediments and the names of the four txt files.

- The four txt files contain the post-processed experimental data on hydraulics, bedload transport, bed surface characteristics, and the threshold for motion, and step information.
